I'm a relative newbie here and still learning lots everyday about how to stay at goal (or within range). Seems the journey doesn't end just because we've made goal. It's a lifelong adventure and these are a great group of Sparkers to share the journey with.

Many maintainers increase their calories once they reach goal so they stop losing weight. For example, I averaged about 1,500 a day while I was losing weight and am now at about 1,800 a day in maintenance. Once I reached goal, I gradually increased my calories adding 50-100 per day, staying at that level for a few weeks, then adding more until my weight leveled off. I then experimented with what worked best for me and found that I liked eating a bit less six days a week so I could have a bigger treat meal on the seventh. As long as I'm on track the rest of the week, my big meal doesn't affect my weight for more than a day or two.

Thanks Maree. Maintaining is new to me. I've lost weight a few times over the years, that I knew how to do. I have never educated mysel to keep it up!
I traded in my Harley 883 last summer for a heritage softail classic. I just learned to ride three years ago. I put her away two weeks ago for the winter. Very cool you are a boater!
Thanks for the support!

Welcome Kelliebean! I concur with all the comments of my fellow team-mates. Lots of interesting discussions here, scientific info! What kind of bike do you ride? I have an old Harley Sportster 1200, but I'm more of a boater than a biker once summer gets here. All the toys are winterized now, though :(((, so I can relate to you comment about winter. I try to list home projects to keep me focused and on target. I wish you much success in maintaining your goal weight!

Thanks everyone! Great links, I will look into those!
My calories haven't changed. Is that something that happens automatically or do I need to change that? I have to look into that. I'm not clear yet how increasing calories now works but I have heard that.
Always good to hear from the Harley ladies :-)

This is a good place to be - there is so much support and everyone is very encouraging. Same as you, I am here to not slip back! I also ride a Harley by the way.

Kellie! Joining this team is the smartest thing you could do to ensure maintaining successfully. I reached a maintenance range 6 years ago, but that's far from the end of the story. You WILL experience weight swings, but the good news is that you can learn how to control them, tolerate a little leeway, and limit how large they are.
Are you at the point where you're adding some calories back into your daily plan, or still in losing mode?

Hi KELLIEBEAN! Congratulations on reaching goal and welcome to the team! Believe me, you're not alone in your struggle to stay at goal. Many of our members here (myself included) have experienced exactly what you're describing. There are a few things around our team page that may be of interest to you as a new maintainer and someone who's struggled to stay at goal in the past. We have a Daily Accountability thread where a small but dedicated group of members check in with each other every day to help with staying on track:
We also run maintenance challenges where the goal is to stay as close to your chosen goal weight as possible. We've got one that's just finishing now, so I'm sure another one will be starting up soon. You can get an idea of what we do here:
If you have any questions that you'd like to put out to the team, please feel free to start up a new discussion thread. The team is pretty active so you'll be sure to receive lots of helpful suggestions. If you ever need anything, please don't hesitate to ask me or one of the other leaders.

Hello one of my spark friends suggested your group so here I am. I reached my goal today after many years of starting and stopping. Now I'm nervous. This is where I get comfortable and slip back into old habits.
Winter is here and that is never good for my motivation. I think I am in a good place this time around so I want to make sure I stay here! I look forward to getting to know all of you.
