Welcome to the team!
I believe you're in the right place. You'll find lots of feedback here and lots of advice from long-time maintainers which will help you discover your own way of doing this.
Good luck!

Hi Zennith and welcome to the team! You can find some articles and blogs about making the transition to maintenance if you look in our Team Links section, which you can find under the Team Stream on the right side of the page here.

I basically did what you're looking to do once I got my BMI down to 25. In the beginning, I didn't change anything because I had a somewhat irrational fear that any increase in calories would cause me to regain all of my weight. Eventually I started adding 100 calories a day at a time (I'd allow two or three weeks before adding another 100) and found that I was still losing! By the time I had upped them to the point where I stopped losing, I had lost another 10 pounds and that's pretty much where I've been since then. I've since adjusted the number of calories I eat downward six days a week to about 200-300 calories a day over my weight loss levels. This allows me to be more liberal with my weekend splurges without gaining.

Hope this is helpful. I know you'll receive lots of great advice from our members here! Please feel to ask me or one of the other leaders if you ever have any questions and if you have a question you'd like to put out to the team, don't be afraid to start up a new discussion thread.

Hello Zennith and Gonewlife, and welcome to a super team. You are right - those last pounds can be hard to shed but slow loss definitely lasts longer!

Thanks for the lovely welcome :-)

I am definitely in no rush to do my last few lbs, maybe it's better that we slow down now, maybe that'll make it easier to maintain in the long run?!

WOW - GONEWLIFE - I could have written that post! Still about 8-10 lbs from where I want to be to "maintain", but have given up hope of being in a hurry to get there. As long as the scale isn't moving up! Just trying to eat like I would be able to eat to maintain and then cut back a little here and there and get more consistent with fitness in general.

Hello, just joined this team. I lost 50 pounds over the last couple of years, and gained back
15-20 in the last 9 months ! I think menopause has something to do with this, but still I need
to do better at maintaining. I know I won't go back to the 50 originally lost, but need to lose about 10 pounds and stay there !! It's so much harder now with menopause.. I started gaining again right after my last period 9 months ago ! I would recommend to those who have weight to lose, to try and do it before menopause hits, because it's so much harder now... but for sure we can do it anyways..just takes some more effort :)

Hello to a fellow transitioner!

I still have about 15-25 pounds to go (lost 95 so far in the past 9 months), but I figure I'll start my transition when I get to 31% body fat, since I want to make sure I have a healthy body composition before I go into maintenance mode.

I know that I've gotten some great input, and it's a very active group here.

Looking forward to making the transition to maintenance with you! :)

Hello, I'm new to this team and I'm currently allowing the last 10lbs to trickle off by eating maintenance calories and exercising the weight off. Not really sure how well it's going yet as it hasn't been long enough and I had a weekend away not long ago in Devon (known for clotted cream!) I'm hoping to transition slowly to mantaining my weight rather than just switch over but I'm feeling a bit lost on how to do it exactly, hoping to find some help and support here :-)
