Yep- we may as well be in different areas of the country. Well.... we are! LOL! I'm as far North as you can get without either going into Oklahoma or the Panhandle.
Welcome, Leslie. You have done a fantastic job! Good for you. I have found this group so supportive and am relying on the help here to not return to my yo-yo ways.

I am So South of you :) Brownsville. Can't get any more South than that. And yes, this time I have changed a whole bunch of things about my life to set it up so that I can maintain. This time is for real. But what you say? I quit smoking 40 years ago, but had one or two cigarettes multiple times for the ten years after that. Funny though. This time I feel very different. I don't have a "stop" and start eating more place. I eat what I eat. Enough to supply the nutrients my body needs and not more than that. Never been in that place before.

Hello and welcome to a great team. I think we all know that feeling of being knocked off course by Life. You have done incredibly well and should be proud of yourself.
The past is our definition. We may strive, with good reason, to escape it, or to escape what is bad in it, but we will escape it only by adding something better to it.

Hi Leslie, and welcome!
You know how they say smokers try to quit an average of.... what was it?...... 7 times?.... before really quitting? I often wonder if that applies to ANY big habit you are trying to quit, including weight loss. The fact that you are cognizant of the pitfalls and willing to do the work to keep from falling into the same patterns again tells me that you are more than likely ready to finally make the change for good. And even if you don't, well, you are one more time of trying closer to truly making the change.
Completely different subject, but where in Texas are you? I am in Wichita Falls

Welcome to the team, Leslie, and congratulations on your weight loss. That's a HUGE accomplishment! Lots of our members, myself included, have struggled with yo-yo dieting over the years so you'll find lots of support here. If you have a look at our team "Links" section, which is under the Team Stream, you'll also find lots of articles about maintenance that you might find helpful. If you have any specific questions, please feel free to start up a new discussion thread and if you ever need anything, please ask me or one of the other leaders.

I need to be here. I have not stopped losing weight yet, but I am probably getting close to a stopping point, 10 - 20? pounds more maybe to lose. I will be entering a healthy BMI range sometime soon. I was at a normal BMI for 4 years in the past, and have been part way there for a good 30 years almost, but I tend to periodically lose focus due to stresses. Things happen, and I gain some of it back. I want to get there this time and Stay there, no more big waves that hit and cause me to find myself 40 or 50 pounds from my healthy weight. I am a member of the National Weight Control Registry, a lifetime member of Weight Watchers, and I was featured in Prevention Magazine a long time ago. The only thing I want is to keep the waves in a ten pound range instead of a 50 pound range. Hello to everyone and I hope to see feedback! Leslie in Texas
