You don't need low carb, but more complex carbs. Eat lots of fruits and veggies. You will feel stuffed, but they are low calorie. Those carbs don't matter. I have gone over the recommended carb a fair amount, but as long as my calories are in check, its fine. The key is to make sure you have adequate protein and a little healthy fat with each veggie or fruit meal so you don't feel hungry later on.
