Welcome! So glad you have joined us on the At Goal and Maintaining. Check out the Maintenance Center in the Healthy Lifestyles section. There are lot of good articles.

If you have the mindset that you've changed your lifestyle to lose weight, not that you did a temporary diet, then maintenance is not so hard. You just keep doing what you did to lose the weight, only with a little more food. And more food is definitely easier! The forever part of it is kind of intimidating, but you just take it one week, one day, one meal, one bite at a time. Doesn't have to be so hard.

Again, welcome. Glad you are here! -Marsha

Welcome, Bookophile. I love your Username. You sound like my kind of person. My favorite haunts are bookstores and libraries. Oh, yes, and bookstores with cappuccino bars nearby go to the top of my list.

I'm finishing up my 8th week at goal, and, yes, you're correct. it can be a bit tough. The previous advice is spot on. Add calories a bit at a time. Enjoy this victory, and congratulations.

emoticon and congrats on your weight loss! Maintenance certainly requires dedication! I know for me if I don't pay close attention to my diet the scale goes up! Yikes!

Congratulations and welcome. The only thing that I find works is just to stay with the lifestyle and with Sparks. You can add a little more nutritionally but work your way up by about 100 calories at a time until you stabilize.
Making new goals is another way, especially if they mean you need to maintain your exercise regime in order to achieve them. Many people start aiming for marathons etc, for me, it is preparing for a pilgrimage.

All the very best. There's nothing taste better than being healthy feels, especially at my age. emoticon

Welcome! emoticon

I'm certainly not a "pro"... I joined in January, when I still had four pounds to go to goal. For me, maintenance has long been a harder issue than losing. I'm hoping that with the support that is here at Spark, I'll be able to pull it off... like for the rest of my life.

Hi! I reached my goal this week after losing 26.5 pounds since mid November. I decided to come and see what I can learn about maintenance skills. I think that maintenance could actually be harder than losing the weight in the first place. I appreciate any advice you "pros" can give me!
