Congratulations! I found this was a great team to join...joined a little before hitting maintenance, and reading the posts and articles really helped with all the "mental" things- fear of regain, buying clothes, who am I?, that I was going through...

Congratulations on getting down to goal. It is a bit of a different kind of journey maintaining, for the first time I have found it doable. Exercising almost daily has been key for me. I'm sure you will receive lots of other tips from other members.

Glad you have reached your goal, I just reached mine as well. Make the most of the all the great articles about maintaining. Seems like we just keep doing what we are doing and slowly add more calories in our diet.

I came on over early, after I hit my preliminary goal, and I'm still a little under a pound away from my "home" weight (copyright is it WalkingAnnie's term?).

I, too, find maintenance more of a challenge than the original loss. Wishing us all a lifetime of health and fitness! emoticon

I will only add my congratulations because I've only been on maintenance for 10 days so I'm a newbie at it, too. Besides, all the previous advice is great. Congratulations to all of us who didn't just diet to lose it and then go back to our old ways. We rock.

Welcome, welcome! Congratulations on your impressive and wonderful success.

You've gotten some good advice. To maintain you just keep doing what you were doing to lose with a little more food. I honestly don't know how you go from losing to maintenance on SparkPeople as far as getting your meal plans/nutrition tracker changed, because I didn't know about SP until after I got to maintenance.

My experience might be helpful, though. I added about 280 calories a day and found I was still losing, so gradually added about 550-650 calories a day over my losing intake. I've just about stabilized. It takes a while to figure out what you can eat to maintain.

If you were losing pretty fast, like 2 pounds a week, you can add more than if you were losing like .2 pounds a week, indicating that you were close to maintenance.

Maintenance takes work. It isn't easy, but it is so worth it!! Again, welcome! -Marsha

Welcome to the team and WAY TO GO, GIRL! If you could get here (at your goal weight), then it should be relatively easy to stay here! We all "fall off the wagon" occasionally...but realize that it's a lifestyle change..not a program or diet...and you will just do fine and get back on the very next meal! You will find that we maintainers constantly post about having eaten too much one meal or skipping a workout one day. It's a constant battle, but we all learn from our mistakes and manage to maintain regardless. Once again, welcome to the team and let me know if you ever need advice/support!

Currently maintaining 120 to 125 pounds for nearly a year!

Just keep doing what you are doing. I believe you can increase your calories some to maintain. I personally did not and stay in my range and I have been here since October.

Hi All!
I hit my weight loss goal 2 weeks ago, losing a bit over 70lbs. This is the first time I have ever hit my goal weight, so I am not going to lie-I am intimidated by maintenance! However, I am SO happy to be at goal and look forward to the challenges ahead. I'm glad to join your community!
