Toning up the muscles may help, and time. It won't put everything back into place, but some of it may start to look better. I lost about 70 lbs from my top weight in my 20's and still have some loose skin, stretch marks and jiggly parts. Like someone else said, clothes hide a lot of that, and it sure feels great to be healthy even with some loose skin!

addendum: you might try Yoga and/or Pilates -- exercise that focus on strenghtening your core and extending your spine -- and/or Rolfing, which is a massage modality that helps bring your body into healthier alignment. Better posture makes everything look better -- and feel better!

I have lost about 150 pounds from my highest weight. A lot of the skin did go back down, but I have had 2 doctors tell me the rest will require surgery. I am 31 and I will be considering this once I have the money. I would not however trade it for being the fat girl again!

Sorry, no great answers from me either.

I lost 90 lbs and do have loose skin but I have been walking steadily for several years now and I think that might be what is helping me. Walking and using the Walk Away The Pounds videos.

I will be 58 in 2 months so we are about the same age - I only know that surgery is not an option for me.

It has been 3 years and 50 pounds ago for me! At 58, I just chalk it up to abuse of myself as I still have "wings on my arms, sags and bags..., but now a better and healthier lifestyle. Stop by my sparkpage and sparkblog and read me....been there, done that...get into a routine, stop to smell the flowers, enjoy life, enjoy your routine, exercise with your friends, get a buddy, don't worry what you can cover with pretty clothes! I exercise with a group of ladies my age and we have a ball!

First, congratulate yourself again on losing 50 pounds!that is an awesome accomplishment. Second, keep working out and eating well. Skin does shrink. Although I ran into a woman at the Y who lost more than 150 pounds, and her doctor told her that the only way to get rid of the extra skin was surgery. (she complained she had to choose between the extra skin and her bellybutton!) So, no answers from here, but an appreciation of the issue.
