2008 slipped away and so did my healthy eating habits and exercise. But giving up is not an option because this is my health and my life and I only get one. I think you are on the right track, Sarah, with the increased fiber. Be gentle with yourself just like you would be to your friend. Jenny Craigers are not any different from the rest of us. 95% will gain the weight back unless they have made permanent lifestyle changes. By permanent I mean following a path not seeking a destination. People who maintain a healthy weight (whatever that is for them) do so with mindfulness and persistance. There is no end point. There is only healthy, loving self care. We are worth it.

I guess it's especially hard for you since I imagine you can't exercise more in those bursts!

I'll see if I can manage to exercise more- I was doing 40-60 min 3x a week before starting these tablets, I'm currently managing 5x but I have to return to work on Friday so I guess my available time will cut back a bit.

Thanks for your support emoticon

I understand this frustration. Thank goodness it's only temporary. If you can up your exercise (either time or intensity if not both), that may help to offset the appetite issues. I have asthma and restrictive lung disease. On occasion I get an asthma flare or other respiratory infection and have to go on a "prednisone burst" (usually 5 days of prednisone). That helps the breathing very much, but while on it, I will eat anything not nailed down and can't sleep. Thankfully, it's not often I have to take it.

Well, now I'm OK when I haven't eaten for a while, but when I've just eaten a meal I'm starving. I'm having to watch for post-meal binges- yesterday after dinner I had second dinner. I mean, it was "healthy" food but it was still calories I don't need, you know? emoticon I also ate half a box of chocolates the day before. It doesn't help that I'm going through lots of stress at the moment.

At least I'm on top of the exercise at the moment. 40-50 minutes of vigorous exercise 5 times a week.

I am eating just like you. 100% pm my plan but eating and hungry all the time. I am at Maintanence and have been for a month. So far I have not gained any weight but it is a full time job watching my food. Thankfully I am able to eat tons more food now that I go to the gym 3 times a week.

I think that kind of statement is wishful thinking and advertising hype! I've lost and gained twice and I hope I'm losing again... In my experience, I have to think about what I eat all the time and journal to keep track of calories and nutrients or else the weight just floats up again!

I try to think of that hungry feeling as my body using up the stored fat - a sign that I am eating right! (not that I can always convince myself LOL)

It's not a nutrient issue, it's an issue with the medication I'm taking, and a well-known issue emoticon

The pharmaceutical company claims an average of "only" a 5lb gain but working as a nurse I've seen an average of maybe 20lb or more for the patients taking this medication.

It's so frustrating.

Hi Sarah, It's just a thought but if you journal your food as per the Your Nutition youu can sometimes pick up on what nutrients you are low on that might be causing the hunger. I know that I need to have carbs and a bit of fat in my diet or I feel hungry all the time. All the very best and welcome.

You are not alone. I look aty Valerie Butinelli on the Jenny Craig commercial say that on January 1st she will wake up and not have to worry about her weight. I sigh and tell myself how I COULD be there. I SHOULD be there. I feel somewhat guilty for not being there. However as Joyce Meyer says, you can either be pitiful or powerful but not both. It really hit me when I couldn't even fit in a size 8 suit skirt. When I was buying jeans for myself in December I had to resign that I'm a size 8/10 not a 6/8. I bought two sized 10 jeans and one size 8 and they fit me well. I let myself go this Christmas. With God's help I'll loose it though. I'm going to start exersising 1 hour per day. One bright spot this Christmas is that a found a pair of boots at Target that was not a plus calf and yet fit plus size calves and I did not eat my way out of a pair of boots. I wore them last Sunday. Today I have done well. I have not gone off my diet 1 time.

Fan Tan Fanny

Fan Tan Fanny was leaving her man,
Fan Tan Fanny kept waving her fan,
Said 'Goodbye, Danny, you two-timing Dan,
Some other man loves your little Fanny, Bye Bye!'

In the ice box, you'll find in a can
Some leftovers of Moo Goo Gai Pan.
Fan Tan Fanny has found a new guy.
His name is Manny, He's good for Fanny,
So goodbye Danny, Goodbye!
Bye bye! Bye bye! Bye bye!

The trouble is I'll eat the popcorn then the banana and the oatmeal and the brussels then another banana... I'm just so hungry all the time.

I don't know if you ever did the 40 hour famine at school (raising money for starving people)- I always feel like I'm half way through, even when I'm in the middle of eating.

I'll be rooting for you! I have found maintenance or goal weight to be much harder to maintain. We both know it's worth it, but it is a full time job. Try to have some food around the house that you can eat but won't destroy your goals. May not be your favorite foods, but I have found that if I eat these (like brussel sprouts), it's fills the void and I can get through the "I have to eat" feeling. Microwave popcorn, apples, bananas, sweet potatoes, vegetable sandwiches, and oatmeal are just a few things that I eat.

But I gained back 1.5kg during a hospital stay so I'm a little way off again.

I started a new medication, so along with the challenges of maintaining weight when there aren't new milestones to hit, I'm always hungry. Much hungrier trying to maintain weight than I ever was trying to lose it. Last time I took this medication, a few years ago, I gained 1kg every week I was on it because of my uncontrollable eating. emoticon On the other hand, if I can maintain weight for the 3 months I have to take this medication, I can be pretty confident about my self-control.

Also, hi, I'm Sarah, I'm a RN from Australia, and even with my 1.5kg of weight gain, I'm at a healthy weight for the first time in my adult life! Before I went to hospital I could run 5km and I'm hoping within a fortnight I'll be able to get back to that.
