Congrats, Holly and welcome to the team! You're right when you say that maintaining is as tough as losing - but I think that's the attitude it takes to be successful at this.

Like the others have said, we need to listen to our bodies and adjust our calorie intakes, our weight expectations and our new goals accordingly.

Much succes to you and keep on Sparking!

Way to go Holly!!! It is such a learning process but you can do it! I hit my goal weight and once i did, I wanted lower. But I know my body is healthy right now and I'm working on toning and lowering my body fat.

Good job and keep up the great work.

Welcome Holly, and good for you for sticking to your goal, it can be hard to make that decision, I recently upped my weight range, and am so happy I did, as I was struggling w/ the lower range. I didn't really adjust that much, and right now am in the original range (they overlap), but I still feel like that was the right choice for me.

I think if you give it some time, and refocus on other goals, like toning, or other workout goals (a 5K, pull-ups, more cardio) you will adjust and can decide if you like where you are or if you want to adjust your original weight goal.

Many maintainers adjust their goals, so you may want to eventually, but it also helps to ease into maintenence and see how if feels. It is different than losing.

emoticon Give yourself time to adjust to this new weight and see how it goes. I thought 135 would be ok for me and stayed at that weight for awhile and then decided to set a new & lower goal but each of us feel different - it depends on how comfortable you are with where you are! Jenna

I also felt very scared...afraid that all that weight would pile back on overnight if I wasn't conciously losing, but I think I'm almost over that feeling.

Congratulations to you!!

Thanks Lynn. It's scary now since I know how easily the weight can come back on. So I know this journey will be just as tough as losing the weight. Look forward to maintaining together.

Hi Holly, I used to feel that same way. No weight was ever low enough. But I feel good at 140. And I think this is a weight I can maintain. So I am going to do something I've never done before. Maintain a healthy weight ! Let's do it together.

Starting Weight: 235 on 01/01/07

Achieved Goal Weight: 140 on 11/29/07

Hi! I just made it to my GOAL! I'm excited, but I don't really feel it. Why do I feel like it's not good enough? I almost want to keep losing. But my body could never stay at any lower weight. I just don't feel satisfied. I'm also scared to stay where I'm at too.

It's funny how TV shows are full of bumbling idiot husbands, you almost think there aren't any good ones out there, thanks for proving them wrong!

You all have picked some good ones! Of course my boyfriend just made me lunch (salad, some leftover Ahi tuna steak he barbequed the other day, and whole wheat pasta) so I've got me a good man too!

That was so sweet of him!!! When I hit lifetime I had a bunch of beautiful flowers delivered to my house from dh & the kids - - that was such a great idea! And he had it planned a few days in advance.

Congratulations - your before and after photos are a real inspiration! And your smile in your new photo tells the story aobut how you feel about reaching goal.

Maintaining so far has definitely been a challenge (2 months for me coming up on Monday) - but the support of my fellow Sparkers and the website have been great. We can do this!

Blessings, Michelle

Welcome and congrats!!!! :D

I agree, the only real difference now is that you get to eat a little bit more. You still have to eat the right things, and keep exercising. :D

I continued to track for 4 months once I met my goal. That helped me get a really good idea of how much I should be eating every day. I'm glad I did, because it was hard, at first, to eat that much more each day, and I actually did lose another 7 lbs. Now I am in a good place... I stopped tracking in mid-September, and so far, so good!

I gained a few over Thanksgiving, but it was also TOM, so it's all gone now, plus a few friends... whoops! :D

If you've really learned to eat better without thinking too much about it, maintenance will be no problem! :D

Good luck! :D

Congratulations!! I am relatively new to the maintaining game too, and so far I am thrilled that I am managing pretty well. I suggest doing the same things that you did to lose the weight...eat well and exercise..You just get to eat about 400 more calories per day, on avarage. In the past I never did maintain, because I neglected to pay attention. Continue to be aware of your intake/activity and you will do fine!!

WAY TO GO on your huge weight loss. What a great accomplishment. Maintenance is fun but some days/weeks you are on a roller coaster but you learn what your body needs & wants! You can do it - you have come so far!
