Welcome, your dogs sound wonderful. I don't want to get any dogs that aren't rescues, they are so special! Good luck with your goals.

It's great to be apart of a group who is not only trying to lose weight and get fit/healthy but are also DOG LOVERS. I have just started my weight loss journey and am down 6 pounds from eating right and plan to start exercising come Monday. I am very involved in the rescue community in my area and am currently attending college and hope to one day run my own animal shelter. I have two rescue dogs of my own, who are the loves of my life, Gator and Missy. Gator is a 1.5 year old longhaired standard doxie boy that I adopted from the local shelter at age 5 weeks. He was abandoned by his "owner" with the rest of his siblings. I just recently adopted my sweet little Missy, who is a 2 year old pekingese/doxie girl (who is snoring away next to me on the couch) from the same shelter. She was found as a stray and was at the shelter for 2 months, but I suspect she was a puppy mill breeding dog as she has had pups before. She is also heartworm positive (before I got her) and we are battling that right now. Looking forward to participating in this group :]
