Yes, I've a corgi and she is the perfect dog IMO! Her name is Polly and she's 7, been with us since we adopted her from a shelter at the young age of 6 months. The smartest, sweetest dog in the world and such a well behaved girl at that. Of course, I think that's what every dog owner believes about their own dog :) Oh and the walking that we do is just as good for her because she loves food like her momma ;) Got to keep her at a healthy weight though, because of her elongated back. Walking is the perfect exercise for us both!

Welcome! Dogs rock big time and yours is a doll, corgi is it? It's ok to love food, it's all in how you learn to love it the right way that can make your life better.

Welcome to the group! And I totally agree, dogs do make the best walking partners...to them, it is always so exciting to go...no matter how many times they've been around the block.

Welcome to the group and best of luck to you. Aren't dogs the best?!! Mine makes me feel guilty if she doesn't get her daily walk.

Hello all, I'm excited to come back to Spark People after quite a long hiatus. I tried this when I had my first baby (almost 8 years ago) but found it too time consuming and frustrating having to log food/exercise and deal with a very colicky baby. I kinda put this site and my health on the back burner and well, it led me to where I am today, 260 pounds and just a few years shy of my 40th birthday and not too happy with myself. I've now two boys (7 and 4yo) that while still demanding, are nothing compared to newborns! It's time to take care of me for a bit. When I say that I'm coming back to basics, it's because I've tried almost everything out there, from the low carb diet, to eating like a caveman, to slim fast etc. Nothing has worked, obviously. I believe what has failed is that I love food, plain and simple and I can't just do protein, I need a bread roll every now and then, well, not need, more like relish :) Here, I can eat anything and as long as I can track it and keep it fairly healthy and good, as long as I can keep within my caloric requirements, I'm golden. Exercise-wise, I've tried it all as well, most methods of working out have not been too kind to me but what I've found to be the least pain inducing and most enjoyable for me has been walking. It has been the one aerobic activity that I have stuck to throughout the years. I believe, because of my walking, despite my weight, my blood pressure and blood sugars are well within the normal range. And with my walking, here comes the reason why I joined this group, my never-failing walking partner, my dog Polly. She is always ready for a good long walk and never, ever complains about anything! Without her, I may not have the desire to get out as much and I will forever be grateful to her for that. That being said, this is the perfect SparkPeople group for me!
