Are you new to spark? If you're competitive, maybe you should join one of the challenges. I know they motivate me to exercise, which is what I really need help with.

Hi, I'm Vicki, and I need to lose at least 50 lbs. Possibly more. I'm currently 224.4 lbs and my goal is 175 lbs. Once I meet the goal I may work to go a little lower.
I gained 90 lbs in just over 3 years when I went into full menopause and just can't seem to lose the weight as I had in the past. I lost 105 lbs in the early 80's and kept it off plus more for about 18 years.
Now I find myself sitting more on the fence; some days finding it really hard to stay motivated to get this weight back off. I have little energy and simple things like getting out of the bathtub are difficult for me to do.
I can use all the motivation and support I can get.

Hi! Thanks for the welcome. I am a PhD student and studying bio. engineering. I have just started writing my dissertation and feels like its a very long LONG process. I am married to a loving husband who also can cook very well :) He has managed to keep a perfect BMI body for the last 14 years and I am struggling to get down to proper shape.

I used to run, walk, and play a lot and had a normal body. Recently for the last 7 years little by little by weight has crept in. I blame partly to my car-driving tendency. Actually at that time also I bought my 1st car. I am trying to do most of the walking as possible, eating healthy, getting back in track and being consistent to my routine.

I LOVE to walk and it's something I felt at least I would make myself to do even I do not feel like doing exercise. So, I think its a good way to stay healthy for me.

Hope to get introduced to the spark friends here.

Hello! I'm a recent law school grad, who is studying for the bar at the end of July. I'm a sexual submissive married to a wonderful, loving, man, who also lost 45 lbs. here on sparkpeople.

I love to be active, but I have VERY bad knees. I used to break records running, but I've always enjoyed walking. I used to walk everywhere as a teenager and it was very therapeutic. Whenever I was upset or confused, I would walk and figure things out. So, it's no wonder that when I decided to make this lifestyle change, walking turned out to be the center of my workout routine.

I look forward to getting to know everyone!

Hello Ladies,
My name is ERNA and I'm a mom of 3 grown sons (ages 36,31, and 18) from Kentucky....
They have grown up too fast.... how about your children? I walk my dogs 2 times a day. in the morning and late in the evening after the sun has gone down (about 7:00 or 7:30pm)

I already prayer walk. I walk around our football field in town on the track. I pray for the boys who will play there, thier souls, their strength and no injuries. I'm a youth minister and a teacher. Did I mention a cheerleading coach. I love my kids and they love me, but I just got my pics back and gosh, I'm fat. I'm ready to lose it starting today. 100 mile walking challenge with my cheerleaders starting on May 19th for 12 weeks. Join us if u wish. O, I'm Trish from Oklahoma

I live in Dalla Texas and I have a cholesterol and thyroid problems.
I decided I don't want to take medication for my cholesterol so I started walking 20 minutes more a day and have increased a minute every week.
I can't say that if I can do it you can too.
Take one step at a time. Increase your activity when you feel you can and don't overdo.

Nick and I just got back from a mini vacation to Branson and Silver Dollar City, we tend to go there about 5-7 times a year and now we drag along my Mom and her sister and brother in law meet us up there some as well.
I love Branson so when you go that way next let me know.
We were planning a weekend in Dallas just last night so will let you know. Would be nice for my birthday 5/22 but we have a family reunion on the 24th so will not be that weekend, maybe the next.

Texas does have some nice weather in parts of the year that is for sure.

I live in Dallas and work downtown.
We pass by Fort Smith on our way to Branson Missouri
1st day we went to Mi Tierra and had a big meal.
The next two days we eat at the stands, they give small portions and the price is little more than going to eat inside. You don't think about the price because it' fun eating differently.
I love living in Dallas. If you like jazz, starting Thursday May 22th Dallas Art Museum has Jazz Under the Stars every Thursday night for six weeks. They are a lot of fun. We take our picnic basket, wine, blanks, chair and enjoy the music and friends.

Well, I have a brother in LaMarque and one in Texas City and my parents were in Vidor(along with another brother) for years.
Nick and I did the Riverfront Mall and the Alamo there in 2003 and we loved it. Weather was great and the walking was good and there was a UK Pub in the Mall that we really enjoyed the food.
We did the space center that year as well.

Usually my brothers come this way so they can see Mom so we have not been that far back into Texas in a while, but we love Dallas so go there at least once a year.

Are you in Texas? I am in Fort Smith, AR.

Sounds like you all had lots of fun and you kept up with your exercise.................how did you do on your eating?

My husband and I along with a couple friends of our went also on a mini vacation. We went to San Antonio Texas and we walk almost all day long the 3 days we were there.
San Antonio has a annual Fiesta for 10 days and we went the 1st week end. It was so much fun, a lot of walking, dancing and eating.

My hubby and I just went on a mini vacation to Silver Dollar City in Branson, MO and we decided that instead of the trolly's and such we would WALK it and I bet we logged 50 miles this past 4 days. I did gain 2 pounds but then I ate like a "lumberjack" but am back on track and know that I will whip that off in no time.

Hello all I am Karla. I was looking at my #1 motivational friend ClassyLadyMay and saw this as one of her teams and decided this is where I need to be.

I was until recently one of those "I hate to exercise" girls. What I really have found out is that I was just LAZY.

Now I am doing the Paul McKenna program and the technique he showed us about liking exercise is really working for me. I am walking outside 2 times a day on my breaks for 15-20 minutes and loving it.

And Classy and I did a treadmill challenge and that was so much fun I just kept it up 3 days a week.

I look forward to being here and seeing how motivated everyone is and how that effects me.

HI EVERYONE,I'M NEW HERE.STARTED WALKING ON TREADMILL ABOUT A MONTH AGO, 30 MINS 5 DAYS A WEEK.BIG IMPROVEMENT IN MY BG LEVELS,CAN'T WAIT TO GET OUT IN THE WARM WEATHER AND WALK LONGER.I HAVE A LONG WAY TO GO TO REACH MY GOAL, I GUESS IT WILL BE ONE STEP AT A TIME. LISA

Hi emoticon I am new to this forum. I am glad to be here. Currently I like to Mallwalk emoticon . the winter and me did not go hand in hand this yr. I will be married 20 yrs. in July. I like to do some crafts, take pictures, listen to music what I'm in the mood for. I care for my precious gifts, my animals. AmySue is Austrailian shepherd and Husky. BrandyMae is JackRussell mix. SusieRenee is my cat. She is Calico. I have pic's in my sparkphoto. I will be going to the Mall and walk on Monday. Everyone have a blessed Easter.

Hi I am Geri 56 live in calif.. been on this site since Jan and lost about 10 pounds! i have a lot of teams i am on and have so much support really has helped me thru my journey. I did find a walking buddy on this site by posting a message on the main board in calif area.. so walk every day except weekends witch really has helped cause have someone to air out each day to. so glad to be here and hope to meet more new friends!
