Hello, my name is Kelly and I am walking now more instead of jogging because of vertebrae issues. I live in Kansas City area, but I am originally from Michigan. I am engaged to be married next year to a wonderful guy and I just want to be my healthiest and my fittest! I work full time afternoons and I plan on starting graduate school also next year, so I do have a full plate!

Hi I'm Annie from the uk and am super pleased today after my first week on weightwatchers to have lost 6.5 pounds. Walking is my only exercise at the mo and yeaterday I did my first virtual 5k walk spark race in 61 minutes. I felt so good after! Looking forward to getting to know you all.

I have 97 lbs to lose and could use some support along the way. Since reaching my 50's it's been a real challenge to get any weight off. But I know with hard work and determination, I will lose all I need to lose to get back the body I know I have under all this fat.

I am recovering too from 2 surgeries back to back with the last one 5 weeks ago.

I started walking last week to regain strength & energy and I am so delighted.

I am averaging 40 minutes/12 blocks about 4x per week.

Hi! I am new to this group! I have been with SP for 61 days. Prior to SP I was attending Weight Watchers and lost 15 pounds.

Married with 2 grown children and two grandchildren. I work full time. I do not belong to a gym. My method of exercising is walking.

Currently my goal is 15 miles per week. I seem to be reaching this goal quite often so I plan on increasing my goal to 20 miles soon.

I am just now getting to the point that I can walk enough to use walking as exercise. I try to walk outside everyday, regardless of the weather (not in lightning storms!).

I love walking and have been tracking my miles on http://exercise.lbl.gov where you take a virtual walk across America from Virginia to Oregon. I've done about 80 miles since I started in October. My current goal is to walk 10 miles per week. Nice to find this team.

I'm new to the team but not To Sparks! I install shelving and racking with my husband. Now that work has slowed down again my focus is back on working out at home! Recently I change my some of my teams so that they will help me to maintain a healthy lifestyle. My favorite cardiovascular exercise is walking outdoors!

I'm new to the team but not to Spark. Trying to shake things up a bit to keep focused. My walking goal is 10,000 steps per day. It's difficult when you have a desk job. But I come close most days and am trying to find more ways to incorporate walking in my life. I take a 20-30 minute walk most days during my lunch break. I dream of one day getting up early enough to walk before work. The more I walk, the easier it gets.

I cannot make myself be thin today, but I CAN be healthier by making a few smart choices. I focus on what needs to be done today and tomorrow takes care of itself.

I am a huge walker, on my treadmill, in the streets and along the quiet country roads of Essex, England, where I spend a lot of time.

Hi Everyone

My name is Deby... I am 51 years old...
Last Aug. 2008 I weighed in at 215 lbs. and said no more.......
I started Spark People Feb. 5 2009 weighing in at 192 pounds....
I would love to see the 130's again its been over 20 years ....

Hello all. I am a Canadian-born but have lived in West Africa for most of my adult life. Over the years, one pound at a time crept on this body (5'1") of mine and I am finally rebelling. Since I love walking, I decided to join this team because it is gentle on knees, good for osteoporosis, etc. This weight just has to be come off! Hope to 'meet' you all at some point.

Hey, Gary! I'm new to this blog and just read your email. Good luck to you in this journey. Just take it 10 pounds at a time and the goal will be easier to reach. Celebrate the many successes along the way. Studies have proved that a half hour of walking or any cardio exercise can be just as effective if it is broken up into three 10 minute workouts. So if you can't do the whole half an hour at once, do what you can and take breaks in between. That's how I started. 10 minutes at a time and I still reaped the benefits of it. Good luck to you. Keep us posted on your progress. We are all rooting for you!!

I started walking just 10 minutes a day for about a week. I work in a large open atrium office building so it's easy to keep up my walk plans if the weather outside is bad. After a week, I upped it to 10 minutes twice a day. Then 15 minutes twice a day, now it's 30 minutes at one time and then perhaps another 15 minutes a second time that day. What helped me tremendously was putting upbeat music on an ipod. I put my favorite old dance/disco music on the ipod and it not only paces my walk, but it brings back fun memories to think about while I walk. I so look forward to it now. On the days when I forget to bring my ipod to work, I use the time to pray while I work. It's nice to have some time with the Lord and thank Him for my courage and dedication and to ask Him to continue to help me on this journey.

My name is Holly, I am new to group and sparkpeople. I started walking yesterday and loved they way it made me feel!! I was more alert and more energetic. I am looking to continue my walking, but I am really good at procrastinating and making excuses. So I am in desperate need of support and I know sparkpeople is the place to give and receive a ton of support!!!

Hi everyone!

I'm a newbie in this group and also in sparkpeople.

I like walking but I have a hard time before and after the action. I hate people saying to me "No pain, no gain!" but unfortunately they're right.

I'm considering to add walking exercise to my goals, I plan to walk 30-45 minutes at weekends. I know it isn't much for a regular person, but it really is a challenge for me. :)

Hi. My name is Sandi. I love to walk. I have been getting my husband to do some walking with me. I am from PA. I am a truck driver, which makes walking hard sometimes. I'm hoping that joining this team will add more motivation for me to get my walking in. I always feel better after I get it done, but getting started is getting harder and harder. I guess I'm looking for inspiration.

Hi I'm Pam and walking is for me. I'm new to the team and a member of Sparkpeople since Nov. '08 but I have really been inactive. I am going to get back on track because feeling all them pains is not fun and I know most it comes from my weight. glad to be a member of the team. I like walking because I figure I don't have to pay for it and I can do it anywhere. I was use Leslie Sansone's dvd and I gave it to someone to give them a helping hand. I don't think they even use it. I need it back because it is so convenient.

I have been overweight too long, and really want to get healthy. This past year I have watched my mothers health decline because of her life long obesity. I don't want to go down that path. Hi, I'm new. I live in Virginia. I need to lose weight for health reasons and because I just want to feel better about myself. I have asthma and when I'm heavy I have a harder time breathing. I joined this group because I am just starting to train for the Avon Walk for Breast Cancer in May in Washington, D.C. I will walk a marathon the first day and a half marathon the second day. I didn't quite do the entire walk this past May but I did do 32.5 miles. If anyone has tips on how to prevent blisters when walking long distance I would greatly appreciate the tips. I really need support because I have a tendancy to revert back to old habits of turning to food for comfort. I look forward to getting to know others who are walking to get the weight off. I decided to walk for a cause while I am at it because my mom is a survivor of breast cancer.

Hi everyone! I'm Tracy, and I've been with Sparkpeople for two years now. Over those two years, I've managed to loose 45 pounds. I never thought I had the time to exercise, but while working a full-time job that I have to bring home with me, finishing grad school, keeping up a house, and a family, making sure exercise was put into my schedule was done. I started out with a 8 - 10 minute workout three days a week. Before I knew it, I was doing it everyday, until I started adding longer workouts. You can do it. I know you can, you just have to want it bad enough.

Hi there. I have been walking for many years, but just joined SP 3 days ago. I'm training to walk the Flying Pig 1/2 marathon in May 2009.

I don't think I would have noticed before, but I have been in a kinda funk today. I think it is due to that I canceled going to Curves with my friend. I feel like I let her down. I just told her that I am incorporating so many changes--like this new SP stuff, and planning a gluten-free diet that it took me longer to get ready this morning. I think I am feeling guilty for self-care.

I wonder if I will feel better after my re-scheduled Curves workout after work.

Something's got to give.

I've been here at SP since June but just joined this team today. I love walking, especially when I can walk outdoors, and have been doing 30 to 40 minutes at least 5 mornings a week. Also just bought a treadmill so I can keep walking when the snow and ice arrive, as they will soon here in western NY. I'm looking forward to being part of this team.

Hello everyone!
I'm not really new to sparkpeople but new to this team. I have been walking daily and as soon as I find my pedometer I will start trying to meet a goal of 10,000 steps daily.
I recently hit 300 on the scales and freaked so I've turned to walking instead of eating.

Hello. My name is Sherica and I am fron Houston, TX. I am not new to Spark People, but I am starting over my weight loss journey now. Instead of gaining the freshmen 15, I gained the newlywed 15. :-)

My goal is to lost 15-20 pounds. I am starting off by walking 3 - 4 days a week on the treadmill for 20 - 30 minutes. I have a pedometer, but I don't usually wear it the days that I don't walk on the treadmill.

Hello I'm Selene from California. My goal is to loose 50-55 pounds so I can get my confidence and be active with my kids. But most of all I don't like me and I get depress when I see my self in the mirror. I will start with 6,000 a day this week.

Hello I am new to the team. I am on my feet most of the day and I have just gotten a pedometer to track how much walking I do. Now if I can just figure out the best place to put it for accurate tracking I will be in good shape. The first 2 days I wore it I walked over 5500 steps. The third day I moved it to my sock and stepped over 13000. Day 4 was over 6000 steps.

Any suggestions??

I have been married almost a year and stepped on the scale for the first time in almost as long and did not like what I see. For myself, my husband, and the children that we may be blessed with I have to get healthy and lose some weight.

Hello, I am new to this team but have been on Spark People for a little while now. I walk alot usually 3.5 miles in the early mornings. I try by the end of the day to have 8 miles or more,( or so as my pedometer says). I have always enjoyed walking/hiking and still do,it makes a big difference, anyway just saying hello.

Hi, I'm Pat (fran3ord) and I took a break from SP for a while. My weight didn't suffer since I knew the basics ab=nd just have to brush up on recent additions. Now O hope I put me new weight in correctly, It should read that I went dow from 165.4 to 164. Well see. :)
