Thank you so much for your reply. You're words are so encouraging....it's hard to just put that foot out there for the first time. But I am gonna try.... you keep on going with your pups...they sound they are sweeties.

Thanks!! My best advice is to just do it!! Like the Nike commercial. The only way to enjoy yourself is to go out there and walk your little heart out... turn that part of your brain that focuses on what other ppl are saying (b/c honestly 99% of the time you just think they are)... turn it over to a new subject. Something you enjoy, or make up a story in your head... and let your imagination take you away. I find walking quietly a great way just to communicate with myself... and in this busy world sometimes that's not so easy to accomplish.

For me, it was the pups who helped, and who inspired me to get out there. I get to go wherever and whenever I want, but they only get the pleasure when I accompany them. I just couldn't deny them that. Plus, (I'm a little on the self conscious side as well) with them beside me I figure everyone is looking at them and not me, which is pretty much true. They light up not only my life, but everyone we meet on the road. Do you have a dog, or have a neighbour with one that you could offer to walk??

Just a couple suggestions that worked for me. When you're self conscious, the best thing you can do for yourself is modify your thinking. I wish you all the luck in the world... you are worth it!!! Did you hear that...?

Congrats to you on walking!!! You're doing a great thing for you and your dogs. I have the problem of just "starting"...you know what I mean? I have over a hundred pounds to lose, and I'm too embarressed to even start to walk....I guess you can say I'm afraid. Any suggestions?

Hey everyone... glad I found this group. Walking the main exercise I do right now. I have been walking an hour a day... I have two pups, and each pup gets half an hour to an hour, depending if my hubby comes with me or not.

Anyways, I'm Sandra, 34 years old, work at a desk, and on my offtime I spend loads of time with my dogs. Also have a cat and two bunnies. Hubby has a room full of fish. No children... could you tell lol!!!
