I learned about Sparkpeople on PBS. Okay, now I have another addiction in addition to books! I am very happy to be here. I know I need to get myself back on track eating healthy and being healthy. I've got over 50 pounds to lose but for once, I feel positive about it.
On PBS, I'm babsscifi and yes, I love science fiction although my shelf reflects my other love of romance novels LOL.
Rewards to look forward to:
5 pounds--buy self nail polish and give self manicure. DONE!
10 pounds (approx 5% body weight)--buy new skin care stuff I've been wanting to try.
10% body weight (20 pounds)--spa treatment at a spa.
25 pounds--I think I'll need some new clothes by then (or take stuff to be tailored)

Hi, I just joined Sparkpeople yesterday so this is my first full day. I'm glad to be part of this group. I've been using Paperback Swap for several years now and I love it. I love the idea of sharing my books. I just two in the mail today: The Autobiography of Santa Claus by Jeff Guin and Sabriel by Garth Nix. I have eclectic taste.

For Heaven's sake, that would really count as northwestern US! Glad to hear from you, Firefly. Now I'm realizing that I've not had any book requests from either Alaska nor Hawaii. Do we have many other members out there from these states? I see that you've been snowshoeing. This a.m. we don't need snowshoes but for the first full day of spring, we have entirely too much snow. Snows in March here in Kansas is not rare as I remember several but it isn't the norm either. We had temps in the 70s Thursday and Friday of this past week - then Saturday we had a blizzard. Today freezing temp but little snow is falling but the wind is strong and we certainly have drifts higher than our knees. Good luck with your goals. Jean
Leanmean...I'm in AK. Does that count as northwestern US?
I find it hard to find which forums I've posted in, and when I select that I want to see replies to the topic, my inbox fills up. So...I pop in once in a while. I'm around though! And probably reading Hand, Hand, Fingers, Thumb with my DD, LOL!
Hello everyone! I've been a PBS member for almost 4 years and love it. I swap alot, read alot, and play in the games, and also volunteer to help with data images, etc.
I joined Spark about 2 years ago and didn't really use it until about a month and a half ago and have found that this time it is really helping me alot.
My name is Michelle, I'm a 30 year old SAHM of three kids, and married to Kevin. I've been battling my weight for about 13 years or so now. I got "serious" about my weight loss in August 2007 and have lost 50 lbs since then but have hit a plateau the past year or so and have gained/lost the same 10 lbs. LOL Hoping to finally break that plateau and get under 200 lbs soon!
I am also part of the Weight Loss Challenge on PBS and love the support and friendship there. Hope to be more active in this group too!

Hello, I also love PBS. Besides trading wonderful books for just the price of postage, it is fun to check out where they came from and then where you get to send them. I live in Kansas so have seen the travel to all directions from Kansas. One thing that I have noticed, though, is that it seems that none have come from or gone to the northwest section of the U.S. Is there anyone out there from that part of the country? I don't spend much time in chat rooms nor posting to forums because I spend too much time reading.
Slowly and surely wins the race.

I just became a co-admin on this page. I love PBS and am often in the chat room with several other regulars. I would like to get this page back up and running, if anyone has suggestions, send me some mail or reply to this thread. I hope to set some new goals going for this team as well.
