Hi faye. yes, I'm blond. I just said the obvious when they said they needed a user name. I'm also almost 62 , so that fit. I am not good at choosing names. Anyhow, it works for this. I didn't loose again this week, but I have lost 15 since starting, so I have to expect a plateau. it is hard, though, and I hope it doesn't last long. My class reunion in sept., and I want to be down 10 more pounds at least .

Never , never give up !

Hi , you can call me Faye ,,,, my first name is Velora and so I stuck that in there and thought it was suppose to be my name , duh ,,,,, . I am blonde as I take you may be also ? I am a retired hairstylist . I have one daughter in law that is a grade 3 teacher . I have officially started my diet today for food wise . : ) I had to make up my menu and list so now I can get going ! I HOPE ! I do love all foods trust me . Ilove sweet potatoes all that you listed . The dr. took my prunes away from me as I was eating a lot of them for snacks back a while ago for the fiber I need , and my carbs was way to high from them and there natural sugar . I will add just a few now and then now . I needed to put more fiber in my diet becuase I had my first Coloscopy done and I had three pre cancerous polyps removed ,,, and have diverticulitis or what ever .
So , fiber it is . I have to watch fats for high cholestrol and tryglycerides ,,, very high . I take Tricor and levostatin or something like that , as he just changed me after a few years on lipitor and gemfibrozil ,,,, with out meds my chol.level is like almost 900 and so is the try's. !!! I have reduced sodium and that has kept blood pressure now back to normal and that I can handle with no problem . So , it has been hard for me to watch carbs , fats , fiber and and sodium ,,,,, I gained 11 pounds when I tried watching all this ! So I really need help
from some one who knows what I am going threw and hints as to how they handle it all . : )
I have walked , and like you , its about 30 min at a time . I have a bad knee and hip from a car accident I was in three years ago , from which I almost lost my leg . So guess we are birds of a feather . hahah
I am enjoying doing up the menus and keeping it at about 25 to 30 points on the weight watcher point system and it seems to work out well , down the road I will do more of my own subs , but right now , to follow this menu plan that Sparks has and groc. list and receipes ,it is a plan for me that I can easily get going on .
I am going to go wall paper at my moms now , and will walk there , not far ,,,, : ) it is nice for a change today in Maine ,,, and very welcome !
You have a great day , to nice to sew today for me !
I may see my little grandson's later and that will be great also . They are about 3 miles from here .
I have two .
talk again soon and thanks for writting a reply to me !!!
Hugs, Faye

to Velora Hi. I am 61, a retired nurse who sews and quilts. I joined 6//5 and lost 13 pounds by lowering my sodium. I'm in a plateau now and will continue the program and walking. I walk 1 hr per day , but do it in 2 -30 min times due to my hips and knees. I have 2 kids who are teachers and 4 grandkids. I also am trying to lower my blood pressure and cholesterol. I don't know what you like to eat, but I have found sweet potatoes, melon, red peppers, and pumpkin to be goood sources of potassium. Also, prunes and raisens. I also found a no-sodium broth in chicken or beef that tastes good and works for making soup. Good luck. Take your time on the various sites and you will learn where it all is. it's fun and rewarding. The support and encouragement is great. emoticon

Never , never give up !

Hi , my name is Faye , I am from Maine and live in the country . Love to quilt and also make PJ's for my grandson's and I like to make all types of handbags that are quilted or not . I am 53 the end of this month , I just joined Spark's last week , and have been trying to figure all these pages out they have. I just found this site with quilters and it hit me to a tee ! lol I am a gramma to two beautifull boys , one is 3 and one is 10 and I sit them during the school year , mommy is a teacher and is off , works great for me ! lol I have sewn since I was a child and have done many quilts and love quilt books . I need to lose 50 pounds and I also have to watch sodium . I weigh in at 183 right now , and the doctor is on my case big time , high cholestrol and the blood pressure was creeping up there , but the loss of sodium intake it has came back down to normal range . I started walking at his request , last week ,,, about a mile in 30 ,,, good ole country air early in the morning ! hahahah
I need motivation and support to trudge along . I love being busy inside and outside . So , I hope to get healthy with this site and lost those 50 pounds !
Have fun doing it ! I am always happy to get new quilting ideas or give them ! I love to sew and love my machine ! Hopefully I will find new friends and supporters in here !! Enjoy the day and I look forward to finding out all the things that can be found in this Sparks diet site ! Looks like fun !

Hi. I'm a gramma and fairly new quilter. I also like to sew clothing. I especially like to come up with new ideas. I have made a lap quilt, wall hanging, and 2 quilted jackets, also 2 denim jackets from jeans. I am a snowbird, spending 6 months south and 6 mo. north.I have 4 grandchildren. I started this program 2 weeks ago, and love it. I like making up my own dietary plan and trying to stay within the perimeters of nutrients needed by my body. I'm concentrating on reducing sodium and increasing potassium in order to see how my blood pressure is affected. I lost 9 pounds already, but I think it was the water lost by dropping the sodium.I hope we can support each other and share quilting news.

Never , never give up !
