The biggest thing is to not overly criticize yourself if u need extra breaks in the process. It's much easier to get back on track after an extra rest day if there is no guilt due to taking that extra rest day. This is something I still struggle with and I have been going a little longer than 21 days.
Regarding the knees, tony horton talks about having a bum knee in one of the workouts. This disclosure helped me to accept modifications were okay, expected even. So know if you are doing p90x with a weak area it can still do wonders for you.
Good going! Knees are usually vulnerable for lunges and squats. For lunges make sure you have perfect alignment...for squats focus on sticking your butt out more than bending your knees. One of the most excellent things about Tony Horton is that he demonstrates perfect form. His moves are very pliable...meaning you can make them your own. Listen to your body. Go at your own pace. If one move isn't for you make it your own with whatever modifications necessary that day...as time goes by go back to the perfect form that is demonstrated and give it a go....you will be surprised at how your body becomes stronger and more flexible.
Im planning on starting p90x this week. any advice? my knees are pretty bad and I'm only 31 yrs old. Im scared of the toll it will take on my knees. I did Jillian micheals shred dvd for 4 months and lost all the weight but 10 lbs..and now i've been stuck on my plateau for 1.5 months. I want to get out of it and thought of p90x. I lost 30 lbs with Jillian (30 mins a day/4-5 times a week)...which was great for my knees. Wish me luck on this new journey to lose the last 10 lbs and tone up! I have to lose this baby belly flab that just wont go away!!! I'm planning on doing the Lean version.
Awesome! You can do it. Just tell yourself "Once i get my workout done today, i can get back to work". Research shows that people are more productive after they workout. So use it as a way to stay productive and more efficient. :D
I tried p90x before but didn't make it very far. I'm a self-proclaimed workaholic so I tend to use my need to succeed at work as an excuse not to fit a workout in daily. They say it takes 21 days to make a new task a routine. I'm going to stay focused on completing Phase 1 and then start a new goal. I started Core today and although it was tough, I felt completely awesome! Day 1 down.......89 more to go......
