Hello Everyone! My name is Michelle, and I will be moving to Omaha at the end of the week. I'm looking to hopefully settle down finally. I've been somewhat of a gypsy moving every few years. I'm moving from my home state of California this time, I moved in with the parents because my husband wanted to try his hand at working full time as a boat mechanic, unfortunately he didn't think about the laws and regulations that came with moving to CA with his favorite things to do like hunting and fishing. So I decided to call up a friend in Omaha and found a position was open in a company I worked for and now I am moving at the end of the week. I'm looking to lose 80lbs in the next year.

I decided I didn't care what I looked like in a swimsuit I was going to buy one and go to the pool with my child. I'm sure people thought I was crazy walking back and forth in the pool, but again, I don't care. When the kids had a rest break and only adults were allowed to swim, I remained in the pool walking back and forth. All I can say to the mom's that were looking at me like I was out of mind, maybe they should try it. Not sure how many calories if any I burned, but when I exited the pool, my legs felt a little rubbery.

Hi Everyone- I am new to the group. I joined sparkpeople in 2009. Invited my cousin Carolyn (Carolyn0107) I was under a different name. I was here to lose weight. I have type 2 diabeties and have had it for a while but ignored it most of the time. I was feeling that my sugars were changing. Had my Dr test my A1C and I was right, it wasn't good. 8.8. Greetings Sparky people.. I am Larissa and I am not so new to SP, but have been inconsistent for several years. I am back on calorie counting and hoping to lose 10lbs and focus on gaining upper body strength and losing my pooch. Previously I joined SP after I had my first child in 2009 and have had another 1.5yrs ago.. my body lost the weight much quicker and more easily than my first. So I am super thankful for that! Overall, I do want more kids and I want to be in the best shape as I can get before my 3rd surprises me. But spring 2013 is here and I want to feel and look better this summer... hoping better than I have ever before. In the meantime, I am becoming more active on SP and hope that I am a regular.. rather than an off-on again kinda gal. I will be 32 this summer and will be married 5 yrs this year! I am content w/life and I am blessed w/a new day every day. :)

Hi!! My name is Brooklynne, and I have lived in Omaha for 8 years. Since retiring, I have discovered I have gained some weight and my muscles have "softened"! Since I have a back and hip problem, I recently found low-impact exercises that have started to make a difference. I want to lose a total of 30 lbs, but have reached a plateau that just won't budge! I need some advice as to what I can do when it is cold and/or snowing outside to keep me motivated. I use plastic soda bottles (16 oz size), filled with sand as free weights, as well as weighted ankle wraps, but what else can I do? I am so glad to be on the team!!

I've lived in Omaha all my life. I turned 49 on March 30th and my goal is to lose 50lbs by my 50th birthday. I also have 2 daughters who joined Sparkpeople in order to make some healthy life style changes. Glad to be on the team!!!

As for creating your own page, it's a lot of clicking. They do have tutorials if you need help. I didn't create my page until I was done losing weight. I really wished I had set it up earlier so I could have received the excellent support that I get now! Be patient with the site. There is a lot to see and do!

Hello,
I am new to Spark. I have just started my journey. I am wanting to feel better and look better. I have done a week and made it through it okay.

My biggest challenge is....I am not creative in the kitchen and don't really like to cook. So finding foods that are healthy and inexpesive is huge for me. Finding easy things to make for lunch and snack is hard for me.

Also, I have no idea how to get to my page and customize it like you have all done. I love the weight tracker features.

Hello everyone. I am not really new to Spark. I lurked around the site in the past. My weight has been up and down in the past few years. After chemo where I lost 40 lbs, the weight seemed to reappear quickly and then a few lbs more. I decided I need to take control! When this site was suggested in the work place I knew I was familiar with it so decided to join. Ive lived in Omaha all my life and have 3 darling Grandchildren. Hello my name is Chrissy, I was born & raised in Omaha. I am a stay at home mom with 3 boys. I have been trying to lose weight since Jan. My husband & I quit smoking & I didn't want to gain anymore weight. My starting weight in Jan was 200. I am now 193. I am frustrated that I am stuck at a 7lb weight lose. I work out 4 to 5 days a week since May and have been eating between 1500 to 1700 calories a day. I have had my thyroid checked too, and that was fine. Here is hoping the SparkPeople is the push I need. Good thing is, my husband & I are still non-smokers!!!

I moved to Omaha about a year and a half ago from Oregon where I lived my entire life. The first year we lived here, we stayed w/my fiance's mom and our three kids in her 1 bedroom apartment while we got back on our feet. The day we got here, literally the next time we got into our car after driving for 3 days to make it here, the transmission went out. So, I was basically cooped up in a tiny apartment for the first year here, not working and staying home with the kids. Finally after taxes came, we bought a new car, got our place and I got a job. However, I have still not made a single friend, other than my fiance's family. Now, I am trying this whole new healthy lifestyle change and it would be really nice if I had some friends to do it with. My sister-in-law actually lost over 100 lbs by herself a few years ago and she's maintained the weightloss. So I get tips and advice from her, but since she actually isn't still losing the weight, I guess it's just not the same to me. So, I seen this Omaha Sparkpage and thought I would introduce myself and see if there's anyone else out there looking for some new buddies to help encourage each other in this tremendously hard journey we all are on together.

Hi everyone! I live out in West O and I'm a new sparker. I moved to Omaha back in 2006 to go to UNO.

I used to do Weight Watchers online, but had to drop my subscription, but when I only work part-time that $15/mo was something I had to give up to put towards other things.

I've been struggling with my weight for about 4 years now. I seem to have several months where I'm super-dedicated to eating right and exercising, but then something happens and I massively fall off the bandwagon.

I'm really hoping that this will be a great way to help me loose the weight I need to as I figure out a way to combine the resources here with some of the Weight Watchers stuff I still try to follow on my own.

Hi everyone,
I am not a new sparker, but coming back for some support. I have had a steady-but-slow weight loss of 40 pounds this year, but I am done with the yoyoing I have done in the past.
Most of my friends don't worry about weight loss. While they're not unsupportive, I don't have the support I need sometimes. I think it's nice to have a local group dealing with the same issues!

I am a student at UNO and a single mother, so exercising is difficult! I usually get my activity in during walks or on the one afternoon a week I have off. I've been eating much more healthfully and feel like I've kicked emotional eating out of my life (mostly). This has been a hard and long process, but it was worth all the struggles! Now just to amp up my diet and activity level!

Hi there! My name is Stephanie & I live on Offutt AFB. I grew up in Huntington Beach, California & my husband & I were previously stationed in Las Vegas at Nellis AFB. I'm 23 & have been married to my husband for almost 4 years, our anniversary is next month! We don't have any kids, but I do pet sit & have 2 dogs & a cat.

I work from home (I'm a blogger) & am sitting constantly. When I'm not writing, I'm organizing or prepping for future posts. I honestly just don't make time to be active & have let myself eat whatever I wanted. Oddly enough, I gained weight. Wild right? I've been successful with Spark before but then we PCSed & I totally fell off the train. I'm going to be working on meal planning, eating smart, & making time to be active.

I'm happy to be here & meet everyone! Anyone looking to workout in my area, please do let me know! I'd love to have a buddy!

Hello, I've been an Omaha resident for 1 year, so 1 flood, and 1 drought. I am father to a 6 year old girl, and an 8 year old boy. I need to lose a LOT of weight. I need to change my habits both in eating and activitiy. I heard about this site in a news article and thought I would give it a try. I have joined the Omaha group, and signed on to 3 challenges. I need to stick with this, and hope I can get excited about it!

Hello all!

I am new to Sparkpeople as of today. Sadly, I am not new to trying to lose weight. I saw an article about this site and thought I would give it a try. My family and I are newer to Omaha, and some days I really love it, others I really hate it.

About me:

I am 38, a mom to 3 boys, 12, 7, and 6. I homeschool my two youngest and I also attend the University of Phoenix. I am about a year and a half from my bachelor's degree in communication. I am getting married for the second time on October 31 of this year. Mike and I have been together for eight years and finally decided that it was time. I have some medical issues that make movement difficult and I know my excess weight is not helping. I want to be able to enjoy more activities with my boys and teach them healthy eating. I look forward to losing weight with all of you.

Hi my name is Claire. I am a recent graduate and definatly gained the freshman 15 more like the freshman 20. I really want to get back into shape because I want to live a healthy life. I am originally from Omaha but have moved around alot and now am back before moving to Oklahoma. I love working with horses and cattle. I ride western and love to break colts. Hi Everyone!

I recently moved to Omaha for a new job. I'll be here for a few months until I transfer to another part of the country (I'm kind of a nomad). I've struggled for the last few years to lose the last 15 pounds of fat around my stomach, and I think a lot of that has to do with consistent motivation. I'm hoping this group can help support me and help me stay motivated so that I can finally be successful! I'm excited to see results and make new friends!
