I also feel full eating legums (beans) and whole-grains.
Fruits and vegetables don't make me as full as beans and whole-grains, but they help.
My favorite satisfying meal is what's now in the slow cooker. So easy to make!
I saute until carmalized with 1 teaspoon of olive 3 (three) JIANT sweet onions, sliced.
I put in the slow cooker and add:
1 cup dry lima beans (not even soaking them)
1 cup of hulled barley
1 small marrow bone (for flavor)
Lots of spices (I love spicy foods)
2 cans (14.5 ounce each) of low sodium beef broth
Add water to cover it all
Cook 1 hour on high and then 8-10 more hours on low in the slow cooker
Sometimes I have to add a little more water.
It sould be like a stew.
Legums and whole-grains make it a FULL PROTEIN.
