I am currently doing two official SP challenges.
SP Official Stress Busting Challenge (in week TWO), and SP Official Better Sleep Challenge (in week TWO)

Here are the changes I have made so far:
1. Planning meals on weekly basis
2. Drinking 2.2 L of H2O per day
3. Keeping fruit in bowls throughout my house
4. Tracking my food calories
5. Working out every day
6. Eating 5 fruits or vegetables each day

I am working on new workouts and I have a 1200 calorie a day diet. TIME TO DO THIS!

Welcome Brenda, you will find lots of great recipes here on this site....

I understand the lazy part. :) lately I have been trying to cook more here at home, but we are retired, and I remember how tired I used to be when I got off work.. Crock pots, and George Forman Grills are wonderful! emoticon

Hello,
I'm new to this team, the reason for joining this team is to get new ideas for cooking healthy food. I have been a spkr for about 3 - 4 years off and on. This time though I am on and trying to stay on. So I have the daily mealplans for tracking but usually cook my meals close to what the meal plan suggest. I am a receptionist, wife, empty-nester mom, and nana. I love to sing and go to church. I love the word and work of God in my life. I also like to cook as long as it is simple or one-dish. I have gotten a little bit lazy in the kitchen since the kids are not at home. Husband is not to picky about what I cook, he enjoys it all. I am just trying to find dishes that are new.

Thanks for having me here.....

WW is the best plan that I know of, because it is a lifetime commitment... It is a liveable way to lose and really not feel deprived..... Most of us here have been exactly at the same place you are in. The most important thing to do is commit to attend your weekly meetings where you get the encouragement and ideas, and to track, track, track! This Spark People group are awesome also!

Hi, I rejoined a WW meetings last month. I have been in/out of WW for years now, but never reached my goal or made lifetime. I have tried quite a few other programs, but WW is a healthy plan. This time around I have found a great leader/members. I understand now that this is a lifestyle change and if I work the WW plan it will work. My problem has been wanting a quick fix to weight loss; and not sticking to any plan long enough to see it through. So I am back, taking it one day at a time!!! Looking forward to being a part of this great team.

Welcome to our team.
I understand very well how the "yo-yo" game is played because I played so many times before I really got serious.

I'm glad to see that you are really serious now, not only to lose the weight but more important, to maintain your weight loss.

Enjoy our wonderful healthy recipes

Good luck and best wishes

Good Morning, and welcome Greeneyes!!

Yes this is a great group and you will find so many tools to use here on SP. The best thing you can do is use the Food and Workout trackers and get on a daily program of doing that. I know, for me, if I don't track my food intake, I start going to go back up the scale. The encouragement here on SP is so good......

Good morning! First I have to say that this is the best organized Team that I have seen since I joined SP. I am sure that isn't saying much since I have only been here for 10 days or so but I do pride myself on my organizational skills and your Team is incredibly well run. Therefore, I would love to be a part of it.

I had 38 pounds to lose when I started, joined here when I needed to lose 32 and I now need to lose27 more to get to the goal I have set. I think this group will be the one that will keep me interested in staying focused.

I am not new to weight loss as I lost the same 100 pounds three times before losing 130 pounds the last time and keeping it off for 5 years. I just kept putting that same 100 pounds back on each time so the last time I was determined not to let that happen. Since May of 2008 I weighed 150 pounds or less until I quit smoking in December of 2012 and that is when I gained the 38 pounds. I spent most of 2013 playing around with one diet or another but never being serious. I am now. I want that healthy body back. I miss it.

So, here I am because I know that SP is the kind of support and motivation I need and with my experience, I can probably give back a bit as well. So, I can't wait to check out some of the recipes here and the websites as well (I have already saved some of them!).

I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.

Your are so right, 5 years of maintenance. I had a spell about 2 years into it, where I was 5 SILLY pounds over my goal. I continued to go to the meetings, and paid at every one.

I just knew that if I quit, like so many do, I would put the 50# I lost back on, just like I always had done. So after a year, of this...... I know it is stupid,...... 3-5 pounds over during that time........ I sort of slapped myself in the face........and got my head screwed back on, and lost it.... I know it was stupid, but my point is, we are addicts and need accountability, and that scale and the meetings are so important to me.
I, like you, love the meetings and the new friends I made..... And I am so happy I found this group on SP. Thankyou for your suggestions, I will check out the recipes, etc. emoticon

9 grand children and 13 great grand children. So wonderful.
Welcome to our team.
I'm glad to read that you go every week to WW to keep the weight off. That's wonderful.
You're 5 years (am I correct?) at maintenance. Congratulations!

I do the same. I couldn't stay at maintenance without the weekly meetings.
After every meeting, a group of us go for breakfast and have so much fun. That's the best part..smile....
When you have the time, you can look at the top two topics on our team's page:
1. How to find our team's healthy recipes
2. Websites of healthy recipesand so much more.
Enjoy

Hi! New to this team, but not to Spark or WW. Joined WW for the 3rd time around Christmas and got serious - on program mid-March. This team looks like it has some amazing recipes and links to great websites with recipes. I am also following the Blood Type Diet / Genotype Diet - Type A/Teacher and looking for more recipes that include my beneficial foods and stay within my points target. Getting away from processed foods and fast food. I am looking forward to cooking up some new recipes!

Glad you to have you back. WW is a good program, and as you know we are here for support.
I am doing a similar thing as I chose the on line program for a few months to help me structure my routine. I find my Spark friends to a wonderful support system, and feel much more connection than I would beginning with new meetings.
Best wishes as you continue to pursue your chosen life goals. emoticon

Hi, I'm Janet.
I am a Lifetimer. I joined WW in 2002. I reached 'goal' in Dec. of that year. Over the course of time and family life-threatening issues, I have wound up regaining my weight and then some!

I went back once; and, it didn't work!

I went back on 04/15 of this year! Yesterday was my first weigh-in. I lost 3#! My DD2 went back in Feb. and has lost 17+#!

This week our focus is one or two simple activities to get us moving! I can do that!

I was sadden to see both times I am the oldest person there! Doesn't anyone else in my age bracket care how they look?

"All things work together for the good of those who love the Lord, and are called according to His purpose."

HI. My name is Gisela and I've been at this weight loss thing most of my life. I lost about 30 pounds using Spark several years ago but some how I found it again. I've since become a full time RVer which can has it's own drawbacks. This winter season has been a lot of socializing but I have been able to take off 6 pounds since I came in Jan. I love to cook so I'm hoping to get some more healthy recipes here. Thanks for all your postings.

Thank you Mimi, I cut down the teams I joined. I was overwhelmed with emails, so I think this will be more manageable. I am walking on my treadmill. Weather here in Kansas is not good enough to walk outside right now. Thanks again for the welcome!

Hi everyone. I am just starting on here and going back to WW. I will have to modify the WW plan because of my IBS and problems that fresh fruit and vegs. cause me. One person suggested roasting them and I am going to try that. I need to lose around 50 lbs. I am 72 years old and my metabolism has slowed considerably plus "ole arthur" gives me fits when I exercise too hard. Going to stick to walking and try to build up some endurance. I am anxious to try the recipes on here. What a great Team! emoticon

emoticon emoticon Good morning, Mimi!

Thank you so much for the welcome and the link for some Core plan recipes. I plan on using that link a lot. I'm excited about this new phase I'm planning on doing with the Core. Thank you for the encouragement and support that I already feel!

Have a grand and glorious Thanksgiving emoticon week!

Have a blessed day and wonderful journey to the new you!

emoticon emoticon Howdy from the DFW area of Texas!

I am so glad that I found a recipe forum for healthy dishes and meals on SP. I have come a long way in my journey (Please read my spark page), but have more to accomplish. Many, many years ago, I was on WW, but like everything else then, I didn't stick with it. My journey this time began March 2009 and I have been on it ever since. My style has been portion control only, and watch fat and sodium. Now the doctors have put me on a new medicine for extremity tremors which the main side effect is weight gain....45-80 lbs per year and while they were at it, gave me even more weight to lose for a goal! emoticon Go figure! It is the last resort medicine for me now. It is really helping me tremendously, but I am on a daily "dread and fear" regarding the weight issue. I am disabled with numerous health issues which includes minimal to no exercising. I do try to walk emoticon emoticon to the end of my driveway and back and now since my husband bought me some new tennis shoes ( I haven't been able to wear any, nor put them on myself since the 80's.....please read my blog about tennis shoes) I am really excited about getting out and using them.
Well, all of this to say is, I'm beginning WW the old Core plan and still utilize my portion control and fat and sodium watching. I think this will be a winner for me.

Have a blessed day and wonderful journey to the new you!

Paula emoticon

emoticon Jeannette! I am glad you have joined our team! The leader is very knowledgable about WW, and the members have a collective insight as resulting from their own experience on this jouney. I am certain they have many recipes to share.
I, too, love to collect recipes, and enoying trying new things. emoticon FYI
I am also a long-term Spark member. I grew up with the exchange plan, but just as I became an official member, they went to the point system. I was placed on a diabetic diet, which was more familiar to me. My personal plan is similar, I just don't follow the points.
I am looking forward to knowing you better.
Any suggestions, comments, or ideas welcome.
Best wishes as you continue to pursue your chosen life goals! emoticon

Hello my name is Karen and I am new to WW but not new to losing weight. I have tried so many times throughout my life lost and gained and now I am determined that I am going to keep it off . I want to be around for many more years to enjoy my grandchildren. I am always searching for healthier food to eat.

Choice is a gift given to everyone. It is a powerful gift that can change your life. I choose to eat healthy.

emoticon to the team! I can see you have your hands full! I, too, have been a caregiver,
personally, and working in assisted living and hospice. Never for my own family members, and
I can certainly understand the emotional, as well as physical toll.
Our leader is extremely knowledgeable about the WW program. The team members have a great deal of collective wisdom from their personal experience.
If you are on a point system, It is my opinion that recipes already calculated would be the simplest. Any questions you have about the recipes on this site, just ask, and we will be happy to respond. Cookbooks, and some pre-packaged foods also list point value.
I am looking forward to knowing you better.
Best wishes as you pursue your chosen life goals.

Hi I am new to WW and I am always looking for healthier recipes that are easy and good for you all in one. I am a caregiver for my dh and also for my Dad & Mom so time is sparse. Not sure that I know how to use the WW recipes but guess I will learn.

God grant me the patience, knowledge and understanding to do the things I need to do.

emoticon SKYSPIRIT,
I agree with my co-leader Mimi, about the role of calories in vs calories out. She is very knowledgeable about WW and its benefits.
However, I am a strong believer in the importance of adding activity. I have learned a great deal about its role, and the fact it really doesn't take great amounts to create great results. I am sorry you are in pain, and I hope it can be resolved in the near future. Meanwhile, you might want to take a look at the Chair Exercise team as an adjunct to your WW plan.
Best wishes as you continue your journey towards your chosen life goals.

Welcome Jan. I am sorry you are in pain. I realize how frustrating it can be not to be able to
do the activities you enjoy. You have developed a plan to help overcome your challenges. It appears to be a good one as proper nutrition is a major cornerstone to improved health. This
team has some extremely supportive individuals who have a great deal of insight stemming from their own experiences. They can also help you with the WW program.
You might be interested in checking out the Chair Exercise team. It is designed for individuals with various levels of ability.
I wish you the best as you continue to pursue your chosen life goals. emoticon

Welcome to our team.
I'm sorry you are still in pain. Hopefully it will pass quickly.
I agree that counting calories may help you to compare it to points.
Personally, I'm still a believer in calories in and calories out.

I've lost weight many times without any exercise, (except this time around) so I know you can lose weight with no exercise. The opposite doesn't work: exercise, but not paying attention to points/calories.
There are probably upper body exercises that you can do in the meantime.

With your determination and by following the 8 health guidelines consistently (excluded exercise) you can do it.
Good luck.

Mimi

Hello, I'm not new to WW, I earned lifetime a long time ago. But I joined back up--on line and am trying to get back to where I belong. I thought that maybe SP might help me out with some problems I'm having right now. I think it is helpful for me to have a calorie count for a change to go along with my Points Plus. I started here on June 15th., but haven't lost an ounce, actually gained another pound! My problem is that my foot is injured and I can't get back on my treadmill. Looks like another trip to the foot doctor since my ortodics and 2 very expensive pairs of shoes have not helped me much! Still in pain. I am determined and I will never give up on this journey for my health! Glad that I found you!

Never Give Up!

Thank you for your kind words. Welcome to our team.
Teresa is a wonderful leader. She writes superbly. She is very smart!
We have so many members that are not connected to WW at all. They just want to eat healthier.
That means, that you're with the right team, of course!
We have HEALTHY recipes without any nutrition information, with nutrition information, and those with either with WW points only or both: Points and nutrition information.

If you have the time, please read on the top of our team's page two sticky topics:
1. How to find our team's healthy recipes
2. Helthy recipe websites and more!
What a treasure!!!

And by the way, we are not just about recipes.... we try to educate, motivate and help our members in their journey of health.
Congratulations on your weight loss.

Best wishes and a warm welcome

Mimi

Hi, I joined the team a few days ago and have wondered if I've done right . . . because I don't belong to a Weight Watchers group. I have one of Weight Watchers cook books and I'm striving to lose weight. I'm going to try the recipes you have on the threads.

I've been losing 1 lb a week for the past few weeks and when I saw your team on another member's page I thought "this is for me". But if I shouldn't be here because of not being in a WW's group, please let me know, I'll understand.

I think your leader PERSISTENCEMIMI is very knowledgeable and I like reading her posts.

Congratulations on your weight loss emoticon Those last ten pounds are the hardest.
I agree, it is quite possible to do it on your own. Accountability, is one of the keys that most who have lost and maintained find very useful.
The fact that you continue to watch your patterns, and take steps to maintain your chosen range is commendable. emoticon We have some long-term WW's who are willing to share their experiences. Our leader is extremely knowledgeable about the plan.
I wish you success as you pursue your chosen life goals. emoticon emoticon

I never went to a meeting, just couldn't afford it. My best friend shared her info with me and I lost 40lbs doing it on my own. Some people just need the accountability of having to weigh in with others. You can do it own your own if you are determined! I was just sick and tired of being overweight (I gained 20+lbs because I quit smoking!) so I stuck with it! I still count points whenever I gain 5 or more pounds. Good luck on your weight loss!
