My BB birthday and AA anniversary are close too (I actually got sober 2 days before my birthday). I didn't need another opportunity to celebrate. Keith is absolutely right. First things first...you have to put sobriety first. I'm not telling you to go out and binge just please don't stress about the weight loss this first year. Some people do lose, some gain, some neither. There will be time for that when you are more ready and we're here for it all. Congrats on the sobriety!

I've been sober for 15+ years and using Spark for almost 3 months. I actually put on over 80 pounds when I got sober. "Eating is my last vice and no one is taking it away from me". Then I was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes --- time to get healthy! Make your SOBRIETY FIRST at this point, but do what you can to stay healthy. Beecharma, I actually lost 80 lbs my first year sober ( I just passed the 2 yr mark) by coming here and tracking food, making myself eat a few small meals instead of a bunch of junk, and making some new "friends" to chat with when i'd want to drink or eat. Hi Beecharma I was many years in AA before I began to really deal with my obesity. I use the 21-day-binge-free team to deal with bingeing behavior. I am also reading the great book, Dr. Gould's, Shrinking Yourself, which deals with emotional eating. A very lucid and how-to book dealing with the emotional aspect of overeating. Hello Everyone My name is Darla R. I am 5mo sober and am on step 9. I went into AA on my own and go to 4 or so meetings per wk. I am so grateful for AA and the changes in my life. Then I went to the doctor and she said I am obese. I really believe I am working on enough right now with my sobriety but I eat healthy food just not enough times per day so I am here to work on healthy right now. I have flushed out 10lbs by drinking so much water but I am not willing to mess with my sobriety to be skinny right now. The weight will happen but not drinking is a must for me. Belly button B-day 11-2 AA 6mo. 11-2-08 really it is!!!!
