I was surfing on his website and found this recipe. I have to try this.

It isn't a smoothie, guess it is okay to post here.

Bean and Vegetable Chili

Recipe By : Susan Voisin (based on a recipe by Lorna Sass)
Serving Size : 6

Here’s a delicious, fast chili suitable for the Fuhrman program. You can omit the corn completely and just use more zucchini if you’re trying to cut out grains. This is thick enough to serve as a filling for burritos.

1 medium onion — coarsely chopped
1 green bell pepper — cored, seeded and diced
2 cloves garlic — minced
3 cups pinto beans*, cooked — (or 2 cans)
2 14.5 ounce cans diced tomatoes — (I used 1 can w/ green chilies, 1 can regular)
2 teaspoons chili powder
1 teaspoon cumin
1 1/2 cups corn — fresh or frozen
1/4 teaspoon salt — (optional, to taste)
1 1/2 cups zucchini — diced (about 2 medium)

In a non-stick pan over medium heat, sautι the onion, bell pepper and garlic just until lightly browned, about 3 minutes. Add the beans, tomatoes, and seasonings. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat, and simmer uncovered for about 10 minutes. Stir in the corn and zucchini and continue to cook until the zucchini is just tender, not mushy, about 7 minutes.

*(Black Beans or kidney beans may also be used.)

Bought my blender at Target this a.m. It was on sale just when I wanted it so I guess it's in the cards. My son, who lives with his girl, was very pleased because they have a blender which they never used. He loves yogurt & fruit and all the other good stuff and can't wait to start using it.

I have a 2 family house & he has the upstairs apartment so he spends his week split between both houses. Trying to watch my diet while he's here isn't very easy but I do try. He's very much into vegetables as am I so I just try to work around those. However, as "they" keep preaching. WATCH THE PORTIONS. Not easy, but doable.

I like the Juilian Michaels protein powder and I get it at Super Walmart. Read the label and make sure there is nothing in it that you can't have. I drink smoothies all year round.
Good luck. I got a wonderful little blender at our Publix and it was cheap. It is just enough for one smoothie. I also have the Magic Bullet one. I like my cheaper one better. :)

I knew I'd get my answer from you great people. Now (tomorrow) I have to buy a blender because I have no idea who I gave mine to. Only know I can't find it. My niece was giving me hers but she can't find hers either. I don't feel so bad because she's 45 yrs. younger than I am.

I mentioned smoothies to someone & was told people only drink them in the summer. True? Seems that something so nutritious should be year-round. Also, what is protein powder and where do you buy it. My stomach can't handle flaxseed so I can't use that.

welcome back, DOGLVER! Any one who loves dogs, is a friend of mine.
So welcome back friend.

my SMOOTHIES are similar to Marsha's.
I sometimes add Greek yogurt, and fresh fruit as well as the protein powder, and frozen banana. and about 4 ice cubes. You can also add a little flax seed or even some fresh veggie . You will be surprised how good it is.
if you experiment with what you have on hand you can't go wrong .
Have fun and tell us what you come up with.

What I do, is 1 cup almond milk, or skimmed milk in blender, then I add a scoop of protein powder, and frozen fruit (enough to make it thick), you can also add some ice to it to make it thicker. I also put in a pkg. of sweetner. I love banana strawberriy, I freeze my bananas when they get too ripe to eat, and buy a pkg of frozen strawberries, I also freeze grapes if I get too many.
Hope this helps.

Again too much time has passed since I was on this forum. I should have a reminder in front of me at all times. If I let time pass before I do something it just leaves my head entirely. However you notice that I thought of you when I need something. An easy & good recipe for smoothies. I think these should help me with my diet instead of just eating everything I see.

Can you wonderful people help? I sure don't want anything "exotic" like the new generation seems to think is the most important way to go. Just something simple. Of course I was looking for my blender & have absolutely no idea who I gave it to. So long ago.

Thanks in advance as I know you'll come through.
