Sorry, forgot the introduction:

Hi, my name is Rachel and I live in Maryland. I'm a convert to the Catholic Faith and am a regular on Yahoo Answers Religion & Spirituality Section. I converted to Catholicism with the rest of my family when I was 10, but didn't really learn much about my religion until someone challenged me when I was 19.

I am now 25, married (in the Church) and have a 15 month old baby girl.

That is so wonderful, I wish I could get my husband to join the Church...it would solve so many problems in our marriage.

Hi! I sing in the choir, so I am usually at the Easter Vigils every year. (This year I was sick.) Sadly, we had no candidates this year for our Easter Vigil. It is so wonderful to share the joy of having someone join in the faith. The past couple of years we have had people join the Church and I love it when I see them in the congregation. Praise the Lord!
I wish you and your husband well and commend you for allowing God to work with/through you in so many ways. May He bless you in your desire to become parents.
Take care and God bless!

Hello, CC! I am new to this team. My husband and I married in November 2009, and he joined the church at Easter Vigil! It was such an amazing and beautiful experience for us. Now that we have united as one in our faith, we are one completely. We pray that God will grant us a child, and we trust we will be parents in God's time. I teach high school agriculture, and my husband is a student in ag business. I will start grad school in the fall to be a guidance counselor. We have 2 terrors. I mean, terriers. They are our children right now! SP has helped me to stay on track. I've lost 50 pounds, and I can't wait to get to my goal weight with hard work, perseverance, and FAITH! Together, we can support each other on our journeys and pray, pray, pray for each other!

Hi!
Happy Easter!

I am Anne and I am new to the team. I have been on SP for a little over a month and have enjoyed it. I thought it prudent to join some Catholic teams, since I am a Catholic. I am a lector, choir member, substitute religious ed teacher, and member of the Parish Pastoral Council. I enjoy reading the Bible and reciting the Chaplet. I hope to inspire and be inspired.

Praise the Lord, for He is risen! Alleluia!

Anne

Unfortunately I've been in the desert many years. I do attend Mass though, but don't have the spiritual feelings I had once experienced. You are right about even the Saints experiencing this same feeling. I had read of those and forgot, and here you are to remind me........how nice. I am going to increase my spiritual book reading think that could help and thanks for your kindness.....it's appreciated. emoticon thanks for your help and ......Incite....

Welcome to the Team!

I will pray for him! And it matters none that you are new or not, we will pray all the same!

I'm sorry to hear that you are in a bit of a spiritual desert right now. Do not lose hope. You are in great company - many of the saints felt desolate at times, as if their faith were dry and lifeless. They came through the other side, and you will too!

Hello Everyone, I am Joycee......I'm a newbie here. A convert Catholic.....many years ago. Retired as of 2005, married 50 years to my dear hubby. I am hoping to gain back my spiritual side by reading your messages. Lent had been my most spiritual time of the year, even more so than Christmas, but something has happened the last few years and I am looking to find it again. Being new right off I hate to ask for prayers for my husband Joe, but he's ill and they are trying to find out what is wrong. Please pray for him and I'll will be praying for all of you and your needs. Wishing you a joyful Easter.........hugs, joycee in DE emoticon

How exciting that you will be received into Full Communion this Easter! I am so thrilled for you. I can still remember my Confession of Faith in 1993. It's almost 20 years, and the Mass still gets me sometimes too. The whole Consecration still is such a mystery, but such a GIFT.

I will pray for you as you prepare for the Big Day.

I am so pleased to have found this team. I signed up for SP in January, but did nothing further than that until April 1st. Once I set up my SparkPage and started touring the site, I realized what a gem it truly is for weightloss and healthy living support.

Finding this team in particular is a double blessing as I am currently going through the RCIA process (being the only one in the household not born Catholic) with the Rite of Reception into full Communion coming at Easter. I am very excited about this. I envy anyone who has attended Mass all their life. It took me weeks not to cry every time I went. It's a beautiful thing.

I am from Ontario/Canada. 40yrs old, soon to be 41. The boys (pictured) will be 5 and 19 at the end of April. Last August we were filling out forms for College and Junior Kindergarten. When we were potty training one, the other was out car shopping. Makes for an interesting household.

Very cool. Gotta love middle school! My dh says that he loved teaching that age - they were still eager.

Welcome, Danielle,

I'm a substitute teacher in Catholic schools. I've been doing it since 2002. I love working in PreK - 4th, but I occasionally accept older grades. I work a LOT at my own parish school, which is really fun. All of the kids and teachers know me.

Like CJ, I'm curious to know what grade you teach.

Hi Danielle!
My eldest is named Danielle, so that's easy to remember for me.

What grade do you teach? My dh and I work at a Catholic school as well - he teaches grade 11 and 12 physics. I'm an EA.

Hello I am new to the forums here but have used sparkpeople on and off for a few years. This year it is actually my Lent goal to log all the food I eat. I am an over eater and have wondered why I can't lose weight. Now that I am logging I am starting to see why.

I belong to the ZUMBA group and was curious to see if there was a Catholic group. I am happy to have found you. I am 48 years old, married for close to 21 years. I have two boys ages 18 and 16.

My 16 year old son is going to WORLD YOUTH DAY, MADRID SPAIN 8/11! I am so excited for him.

My husband went through RCIA a few years ago and my family belongs to St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church, Schulte, Kansas.

For fitness I am a runner (currently training for a 1/2 Marathon). I also yearly BOYCOTT "Race for the Cure" (due to Komen foundations connection to Planned Parenthood). I also am a huge ZUMBA fan.

I am so happy to find this forum. I have have been shunned and ostracized at other fitness forums for taking a stand for our beautiful Catholic faith.

Some of you might know me as fitlibrarian from other forums (that name was taken here).

Happy to have found you.

Hi, Newcomers! Welcome to the team!!

Bellecat, just keep on trusting in the Lord - your family is in His hands - he loves them and will take care of them, and I have no doubt that the seeds planted in your daughters will eventually bloom, and they will most likely return to the Lord in His time.

TobeFit123, welcome back to the church as well!

I'm a "born-again" Catholic, having returned to my faith, and my roots, about 14 years ago.

I am Irish Catholic (my great grandparents came from Ireland during the Potato Famine) and was raised Catholic. I just kind of fell away from the Church when I was about 20.

The Lord truly does work in mysterious ways. Our daughters were baptized Episcopalians; I took them to an Episcopal church and they went to Sunday school there. When our oldest was ready for middle school, we enrolled her in a local Catholic school. The public middle schools were not a good option, and the private non-Catholic middle schools were prohibitively expensive. I decided to check out the Masses at the parish to see what was going on these days because I knew she would be attending Mass occasionally. Well, I realized that I had come "home". I met with the priest and became an active member of the parish.

Both of our daughters went to a Catholic girls high school, which was alright with my non-Catholic husband because it happened to be one of the top high schools in the city. I am grateful that they received a Catholic education. At 23 and 25, they are not attending any church, but I know they believe in God, believe in prayer, and they have learned the value of community service.

Since 2002 I have been a substitute teacher in Catholic schools, which has been a blessing. The pay is very low, but every little bit helps and I love working in the Catholic schools.

It's kind of strange being the only Catholic in my family. Not only are my husband and daughters not Catholic, but my brothers and sister left the church in their late teens.

I am glad to have found this Spark Team!

Hi, everyone! I'm joining teams left and right trying to find supportive friends! I joined sparkpeople about 2 weeks ago and love it so far! I was born and raised Catholic and now I'm sharing my faith with my little family (2 kids, a boy-6 and a girl-3, and my wonderful Protestant-raised husband)! I have sung in church choirs since I was a child. :)

Looking forward to sharing with you all!

Hello,
I am sorry, I havent introduced myself yet. My name is Astrid, I will be 52 years old next week. I am a born and raised catholic, and was born in Germany. I am happy to have found a group to relate. I am also new to Spark people and hope it can help me to loose. I lost weight before, but always gained it back. Hope through the support from the other members to stay on track this time.
I love to go to mass when I can, and love the sacraments, and prayers. I try getting closer to God through reading about the Saints. My favorite Saint is St. Francis de Sales. I am looking forward to starting a new 54 Rosary Novena
God bless

Remain in His Love

But I say to you. love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you. Mt. 5:44

Hello All,

My name is Irene and I am 25 years old. I was born and raised as a Catholic, but fell away from the church when I moved away to college. Two or three years ago, my parents and I all began attending mass every Sunday together. It has been a fantastic experience going all together.

Sorry to hear about your financial and mobility limitations. I will pray that you find some good support for your exercise restrictions (I know there are some good teams on sparkpeople for people in similar situations), and that the Lord will provide all you need.

Hello, from a newbie Catholic Critter!

I'm new to SP and this team, but have been a "solid" practicing Catholic for almost 56 years! :)
I was at WYD '93 in Denver with JPII and a whole bunch of young(er) people; that was a real blast! And, my (late) uncle was really a "priests' priest" who entered eternal life back in November of 1995... I have been to Medjugorje in 1989, but yearn for someone to leave me some $$$ so I can also someday visit Rome, Lourdes, and Fatima... so happy to have found SP team for folks like us!
I had a stress fracture of my L hip last September, orthopedic m.d. put a lid on all exercise (WB) walking for over 12 weeks, and I (sad to say) by now gained almost all the weight I lost going to WW weekly classes. Since I'm working a long-term temp job (low $) which will end in May, I had to cancel WW membership but instead came here (glad to have found you all!)
God bless! :)

I am very glad you found this team!

I will pray for you and your husband that it will become easier for you two to participate at Mass.

Perhaps there is a driving mission at the nearest Catholic church? Sometimes, volunteers in the parish will pick up those who cannot drive themselves. A call to the church office may prove fruitful.

Hi,

I am new to this team. I have been Catholic since birth. I was very involved in my chuch where we used to live we attended church regularly, participated in several church activities and I taught CCD. Then we experienced some hardships and I lost my way. We moved out of the town and then out of the state. I havent been to church since, its hard for us to get to church since due to some medical issues I am not allowed to drive right now and with me and my husbands work schedules. I do pray daily and try to watch some masses online although I know that is not the same. I am trying now to get into reading the bible as a way of getting back into the faith.

Sue

Welcome Colin and LMAGLUILO to Catholic Critters and to Spark. I think you will enjoy this team and gets lots of help with strength, determination and motivation on Spark pages.

LMAGLUILO, what a wonderful ministry you have, leading children to our God through His Church each day. And to give a life to children who might not otherwise be in a good and loving family, I agree with CJ, it's the best gift.

Colin, absolutely the best to you on your own special journey of honoring God by giving him your all...literally! We hope you stay with us so that we can follow your journey to good health as well as to the priesthood!

Hey everyone. My name is Colin. I am a seminarian of the Archdiocese of Kansas City in Kansas. I am currently in the middle of a discernment year were I am not in formal seminary formation. I am working at Applebee's and taking classes at the local community college. At my seminary health is a very important aspect of formation. This being so I have decided to take on two goal between now and when I return to the seminary next August. The first is to lose weight and the second to stop smoking. My grandma has had success with sparkpeople in the past so I figured I would give it a try.

Hi CJ,
What's interesting is that I only gave birth to one child. We were the others foster parents until parental rights were terminated and we adopted them. They were all under the age of 7 when they were given to us. Two under 3
Months. That was ten years ago. Time flies.

What a fantastic idea to teach them to cook!!

Five is unreal, huh? *sigh* Some people just don't get it, do they? I've been asked if "they're all mine?" and I have THREE!

I have friends who have 7 and 8, I can imagine the comments they get!

Hi everyone,
I am a mother of five. (I've been told that l have an unreal number of children.) I have two grandchildren. I homeschool using Catholic materials. I also play the organ for one mass each weekend and teach the 2nd grade First Holy Communion class.

With 4 children still at home I'm constantly asked what is there to eat. I finally decided to teach each of them to cook so I wouldn't have to constantly think about food. Spending less time in the kitchen definitely cuts out some of my temptations.

Welcome!
You sound like me a couple of years ago - I was working full time, going to school part time, and a wife and mother. *Phew* Busy!

All the best with your goals.

Hi,

well I found this team at a perfect timing. I am a working mother studying to get professionally certified, trying to stay healthy, and on top of that I am helping in a young-adults retreat.

emoticon to all three of you! It's so good to have some new (and familiar, Gloria!) faces.

MSWROBBIE - what a good idea to decide on your priorities and act on them - you're part way to achieving your goals once you've done that!

AURURA - all the best as you begin anew this new year!

Gloria - no need for a third time - second one is the keeper!

This is actually my second time around and I really don't want to wait for round three. I feel that right now I need to make friends, get encouragement and give encouragement.

I'm really hoping to become good friends with this group. Not just for the losing of weight, but to become closer and stronger in my Lord and faith.

Hello all! I too have been a member of spark for awhile but haven't been able to really "put it all together" until now. I'm excited to begin anew with the new year! I hope to find some great supports in this group as my faith is very important to me:)

If anyone here is looking for a buddy, I am also looking for one! Feel free to look me up, I'd love to give you support too!

HI Everyone; I'm ready to work harder in this new year towards my goals for self-care. I've been a Sparkpeople member for a while, but not real busy putting things into practice, and I'm really trying hard this time so far. Wanted to be with groups that were the most important to my life and certainly my Love for the Lord and my Catholic Christian faith need to come first. I am working on ordering my life much better this year; on putting my ability to choose all kinds of things that are healthy as a top priority in my life. Blessings to all and HI!!!!!!!!!!!

emoticon Helena, Sara, and Skeeter! So pleased that you have joined us!

Welcome back to the Church, Skeeter.

Sara - "crazy" Catholics. Yep. That's us. We can be a little 'nutty'. Nice, though.

Helena - will definitely pray for you. In our Rosary Novena, we pray for all of our members and for all people here on sparkpeople. We all need support and prayers!

My name is Skeeter (not on my birth certificate but it is what my Dad called me!) and I was happy to see that there is a forum and team for folks that are not ashamed to be involved in religion. I drifted away from the Church for a while but found my way back nearly 10 years ago and found I was much happier. My youngest just left Catholic school and is suffering from a major culture shock as a freshman in a local public high school. I am very happy that she has chosen to remain involved in the Church, serving at mass on the weekend and attending youth group throughout the week. I am hoping that Catholic Critters will provide the support and encouragement that I need to reach my goals. God bless!
