Hello and welcome to the Team! I, too, didn't find a Catholic Team until farther into my spark journey. I guess I found it when I needed too.
All the best with your healthy goals.

Hello! I don't know why I didn't think to look for a Catholic team sooner! I am a craddle Catholic, first time Mom to a 9 month old girl. My husband is military (craddle Catholic too) and we are very blessed to have found a church that we love and hope to send our daughter to for school when she is bigger. Glad to be part of the team!

Hi Ashley! Welcome! The official term for where you are is Catechumenate. A Catechumenate is attending the RCIA classes and will be officially welcomed into the Church with the sacraments received together at the Easter Vigil mass next year. My SIL became a Catholic in 2010, and it is a beautiful service. Many blessings in your journey, in Christ and here on Spark.

Hmm... what to say, what to say.
Um... Hello?
My name is Ashley. After 6 years of contemplation and study, I'm FINALLY converting to Catholicism (yay!) I never know to say if I am catholic, becoming catholic, or "not there yet, but soon... next year, officially". I mean, where is the starting line?
Anywho... I'm not new to SparkPeople, but it took the summer (and some huge changes) to set me strait about being serious with things.
I know this is brief, but I wanted to at least say Hi and introduce myself.
to the team! It sounds like fun at your house, with all the pets! Leslie

Hi Mary! to the Team!
I agree about needing God, especially with something challenging like getting healthier. That's pretty funny about the cats. My mom always reminds me that my younger daughter acts just like I did at her age.

Hello! I'm Mary and I just found this team and decided this was the perfect place to be. Better to be with God than without him, especially with something challenging!
I live with my parents and our three cats and dog, and it's never a boring moment in the house. My mother likes to kid that the cats are like I was when I was two. Makes things terribly amusing.

I will be doing my last year of homeschooling this year for my 17 year old son. I love my Catholic faith very much and am excited about getting into better shape.

hi all, i joined the other night but forgot to introduce myself! im just getting back on spark after a few months of chaos and no time. But with that came no time to focus on what i ate too, so while i've been gaining weight, I've also been gaining a relationship with God. :) Although I'm not happy with my weight, I'm happy with where my life is headed. So anyway, thought I'd say hi!

Hello!
I've been Catholic happily for the past six years through RCIA. I was raised protestant in a fairly liberal denomination. Ive been singing in the church choir for the past five years. I'm 56 and twice widowed. I had gastric bypass in 2002. I lost 230 pounds over the next two years. I've maintained over 210 of that weight loss for all these years! Woohoo! I live alone, have four step children who were young adults when I married their dad in 1995. I was happily married seven years to my first husband and happily married a little over eight years to my second husband. I've been a middle school special education teacher for 29 years. I expect to retire in six more years. I watch over my widowed mother who lives in a senior housing apartment. My only sibling passed away six years ago. I plan to remarry and celebrate my 25th anniversary or even better!
I'm happy to join your team!

Thank you for the welcome. I'm looking forward to retirement--nursing today is so demanding and everyday there is something else we have to do besides taking care of our patients. My youngest will be a sophomore in college in the Fall--three years then I can retire. There is a light at the end of the tunnel.

Hi Darlene, and to you! I'm a retired RN, but recall the 12-hour shifts very clearly! Good for you for still working. It sounds like you have a wonderful family. My son is my only living child, and I have 2 grandsons. How great for you that you and your husband are both cradle Catholics and active in your church. This is a great team, and I'm glad you've joined us. Leslie

Thank you so much for the kind words of support, CJ! I am feeling much more hopeful and motivated today. I decided to try the "No S Diet" because it fits my personality: no calorie counting, no extreme eating plans, allowances for sweet treats. Here's to moving forward!

Hi Tierra. So sorry that you are feeling unmotivated right now. I am feeling the same thing. Fortunately (unfortunately?), I have been here before, and so know what to do.
Pick something. Any one thing. Something small. Do it. Then do it again. Keep doing it until it is a habit, or until it triggers you to want to do another good thing. Building on our small successes can sometimes nudge us into wanting to do more and more.
Keep it small, though, so as not to burn yourself out, and so you can build on it. If you start out huge, it can get discouraging very quickly.
Ideas of what to start with:
* park far away from the store so you walk further * drink some plain water (more than you are doing now, however much that it) * have single servings of things instead of seconds * measure everything you eat for one meal a day, making sure that you watch the serving sizes * exercise for 10 minutes * turn down a treat
etc.
Good luck to you!

Back on SP after being gone most of a year. Gained back all 9 lbs of the weight I lost last summer. Tried to get back on track and actually GAINED 1.5 lbs. Feeling very unmotivated. I had some serious personal and health crises last year (neck injury and my mom, my amazing mom, developed lung cancer), so I got off track with exercise and eating. Seems so daunting to start back, but I feel called to pray and listen, so I thought I'd post here for support/advice on getting back on track.
Thanks to all!

Hi, I'm new to the team (but been on Spark a while.) I'm Angie, 36. I'm married to Scott since Sept 25 '04, and we have a daughter Rachel who will be 2 on June 15. As far as weight loss, I'm down about 30# since commiting to Spark on Jan 2. I did slack off the past couple months and gained a couple pounds back, but am back on track now. I've been Catholic since '06 but still feel like there's a lot I need to learn yet.

Glad to hear that your knee replacement recovery is going so well. But sorry to hear that your parents have passed on. May God have mercy on their souls. That must have been difficult to care for them at the end.

Carmen! How interesting that you used to be a nun. Are you the only child who was able to help care for your parents? I'm so sorry that you've lost them both now. I'm glad your knee replacement is working well! I have had one hip replaced, and it was wonderful to be free of the pain. I'm so glad you've found this team! Leslie

Hello : My name is Carmen. I live in Puerto Rico . I used to be a nun until my parents got really sick 20 years ago. My mother died seven years ago of complications with alzaheimer. On November of last year my father died with neumonia after having two strokes. This march I got a knee replacement , and Thanks to God I'm having a wonderful recuperation. A had a lot of people praying for me. It's the first time I saw this team, and God knows that I need something like this. Love, Carmen

Hi. I'm new to the team and glad to be here. My spirituality is very important to me. I used to use this website strictly for my weight loss journey. But I decided to look through the different teams and have joined a few that are not so much about weight loss and about that specific thing... For example others sharing the same career or hobbies like the knitting team I joined. And now I have found this team. It is nice to interact with others who are interested in the same things and are on their own weight loss journey. Reading the threads and this team helps me with my daily prayers and reflections and it gives me comfort knowing that there are others that I haven't even met that are praying for my intentions
