I am a member of PBL, and post occasionally there. Was wandering around Spark today and found this team. If I join here I'll have to DC another team, as I try to participate in the teams...
About me, I am a 66 y/o life long political junkie. Observed but really didn't participate much. I retired a few years ago and found wandering around the internet was good mental therapy. I found Daily Kos (early, I have a low user ID), and became hooked.
I was devastated when Kerry lost. Emotionally it was tough. I stuck with Kos and other Dem blogs. Decided to go to the DK Convention in Chicago and got to see one of the earliest Dem Debates. Everyone was there but Dodd.
I went to two smaller breakout sessions while there, Edwards and Clinton. Was much more impressed with Hillary than I thought I would be, she is one smart lady for sure. Was much less impressed with Edwards than I thought I would be. (At that time I was a strong Edwards supporter.) I must have had a gut reaction that later turned out to be his affair.
At lunch one day my friend and I were sitting at a table next to the one where Wesley Clark was. Was much less impressed with him in person, arrigent and loud.
To make a long story short, even though Obama was not that much of a debator at that time (this was the 2nd debate I think), since I gave up on Edwards and wasn't comfortable with the idea of another Clinton, I decided to learn more about Obama.
I came to be a true believer. I sent money, much more than I should have.
I'll try to check in to this team when I can. I have a team of my own, The Last Timers, and I have responsiblity to go there first.
My name is Debbie my whole family is for Obama. I worked one of the Obama's campaign offices, went canvasing and made phone calls, for this past election. First time that I ever got this involved with a presidential election. This is a man to be in aw of he is inspirational and for the first time in a long time we have a smart intellectual president who understands what the nation needs.
Hi Miranda - I'm so glad you found our team - welcome! It's so great that you voted, even though its discouraging to do so when you know it won't turn the tide in your State. Still every vote is precious and you made it clear, even in a red State that not everyone agreed.
My family always used to laugh when my parents went to the poll together - my dad a staunch Republican and my mom a diehard Democrat. Essentially, each time they voted - they canceled each other out - but more importantly they never missed an election and the opportunity to cast individual ballots - a wonderful right and privilege.
Okay - so I hope I don't sound preachy here - just wanted to encourage you in your voting efforts! Maizey
I live in rural north Texas. The line at the voting booth was long, which was the local walmart! I am proud that my husband and I both voted for Obama, regardless of how red our state is.. the same shade of red as the blood on Bush's hands. Welcome to the team!
Hey everyone, I'm Miranda and I stumbled across this team and HAD to join. I'm a 20 year old military wife living in Nebraska and this past election was my first election - I can't TELL you how ecstatic I was to be able to vote this election! The best feeling of all is that my vote did not go unwasted - coming from a historically known Red state (both in politics, and in football *sigh*) I didn't want my Blue vote to go unnoticed -and it didn't! Hooray for a split vote!
I can't wait to get involved with the team!
