I think I forgot to introduce myself. I'm 58 and we live in Phoenix (hence the name Phoenician). I got started on this because I checked the book out of the library and liked what I read so I bought it. Years ago, I had good results using cognitive therapy methods so I have faith this will work if I work at it.
We (my husband and I) had already been working on increasing our exercise at the gym. My initial diet challenge will be not eating large portions and not taking seconds. Since I am quite overweight I should be able to lose some weight just doing that plus the added exercise.
I started by logging my meals on my computer in a word file but when I came to the step where it said to find a coach I looked for help online. First I tried another support website. It was easier to post and see new messages there. I am still not sure how to best use the forums here. I don't like having to use my email to see new messages.
But I like the calorie tracking and workout tracking features here so I am using this site. I've been working the BDS since 9/11 of this year and only lost 5 pounds so far but I feel I am really learning about myself and how to overcome over-eating. I am learning some things that I knew already but really comprehending them this time.
Anyway, I am quite optimistic about this working in the long run.
