Hi welcome, I had that epiphany also, counting calories and staying under your limit is the only thing that works. I am sorry to say I joined this team with the intention of checking out the Beck diet solution, but I really haven't, however, SP's philosphy is that you are never a failure, you may have days that are over your calories, but just get back to it the next meal, or the next day and never, ever give up.

I can't seem to find an on-going introduction thread and I wanted to make sure I properly introduced myself before I jump into any threads.
My name is Valerie and I lost between 25-30 lbs. about 3-4 years ago, using Beck a lot of that time. I don't even remember what happened, but I never finished the book (stopped during week 2! Doh!) and over the period of about a year put all the weight back on. ARGH!!!!
I've been trying off and on since then to get the weight back off, doing everything from Atkins to South Beach to whole, unprocessed foods and nothing has stuck. The bottom line is that NOTHING has ever worked besides counting calories and exercising. So I pulled out my Beck book and started over from page one. I just finished day 1 and redid my Advantages card (interesting to see that my reasons have changed).
