Hi all, I'm new to the team.....but not new to the Beck Diet Solution! I just love this book and it has helped me re-train how to think about myself, my habits, and my relationship with food.
Recently I realized that, despite making all these healthy choices, I am experiencing "sabotaging thoughts" about my actual achievements.
"The scale is going down? It must be broken."
"I have lost 1/2 off my thigh? The measuring tape must be broken."
"Someone said they can tell I'm losing weight? They must have cataracts."
My train of thought is so used to going downhill, that Dr. Beck's methods really work to turn my thought processes around again.
I will say from experience that her principles will have a lasting effect if you keep the book nearby and refer to it often and for long periods of time. It's not the kind of system that will change your whole life if you only read it once then donate it, or use it as a door-stopper. It will become part of your life and really guide you to change the habits which have kept you in the binge/guilt cycle for so long (like me).
