I will tell you something about my beginning of Beck. It was a couple of weeks before Passover, and I just KNEW that there was no way for me to do this on that particular holiday. For eight days, the food is so strange and restrictive and everything is loaded with OIL and EGGS and matzah. It was almost hopeless!
But, there was a group about to start, a teleconference, and it was being run by my coach's husband. (She is a life coach, and I had used her for a while for business, health, lots of things, and her husband is a therapist.) It was just too good to pass up. And it turned out great! He ran the teleconference, and she was my diet coach.
My coach helped me figure out how I wanted to approach the holiday. And there was no wrong answer. It could be anything that I wanted it to be. She asked me to picture how I would feel if I gained weight. She asked me to picture how I would feel if I had to skip some of my favorite holiday foods. We talked and talked, and I arrived at something that felt like it would work for me.
And the best part was, it did not stop me from getting started. I'm not saying that is the right thing for you, and it might feel like too much to tackle this right now. Maybe if you wait, you will be more fierce about how you do it, and if you do it now, you will "learn" how to give in to eating too many times to get back your mojo.
But either way, whatever you decide is fine. Your "diet" is happening right now, no matter what you decide to do. You are eating a certain amount and exercising a certain amount, and your body is reacting in some scientific way. It is already happening! (Kind of scary!)
