Welcome Kimberpeas. The nice thing about the Beck's group is that someone is always going back to previous days to work them over. (and over and over) It is a great program. Just when you forget a key part of the program someone is always there to remind you.
You certainly have an exciting goal to achieve! I think health reasons seem to motivate us more steadily than those temporary reasons we have all used before. Like the bathing suit, or the wedding dress, or the class reunion, etc...
Good for you! Best of luck in your journey. For me, I've had to constantly remind myself to just focus on each day and what I need to do that day, and to set achievable weekly goals (like riding my bike 3x/week). It feels good every time I achieve those goals, and easier to keep from beating up on myself if one day is not so stellar.
Welcome. I have found Beck very helpful but I actually think the most helpful thing for me is my motivation. I no longer want weight loss to look and feel better (that is just an extra). I want it to be healthy now and forever. Some health issues in my family and among my friends have convinced me to take care of myself.
Hello, everyone! I'm new to this team and to Beck, but not to SP. I've been struggling to lose weight for the past 5+ years and am ready to really commit to change. The epiphany that this was due to my mental attitude towards food led me to Dr. Beck's books and I'm ready to change my thinking!
Background: I'm living in a small town in the West Texas desert with my hubby and our two dogs. I gained weight after we married and have 80 more lbs. to lose. I've already lost 26, but that took five years and it's always threatening to come back. We're ready for children and I'm confident that my weight is a hindrance to conception, so we're putting that on hold until I'm healthy.
I'm on Day 1 and am meeting with my weight loss coach tonight. I'm feeling very positive about this and would love any hints you have! Thanks!
