Hi, I was invited to join this team by Joy (SparkLove). I have been a Spark member for about 2.5 years and love it. I need to get myself motivated to lose 10 more pounds; this team sounds like it concentrates on losing weight and getting healthy, and that's what I need help to do. I know nothing about the Beck program but will find the book, and see if I can follow the advice. Sharon emoticon

BTW... my brother was diagnosed with diabetes last year and my father this year...which is added incentive for me to lose the extra pounds emoticon

Hello Everyone!

I am new too! I heard about the Beck Diet Solution last year on the Today Show! It's nice to be with a group of people who actually know what I am talking about! Judith Beck also has a third book out called "The Complete Beck Diet For Life". This book speaks to her ealier principles but also has recipes in it too!

I definitely will be counting on all of your support! I have lost over 20 pounds since last July but have been struggling with the motivation as of late! Now I am refocussing!!!

Some of the advantages for me to lose weight are:

1. I will live longer.
2. I will be in better health.
3. I will feel more in control.
4. I will feel sooooo good!
5. I will have ankles not "kankles".
6. I will have more energy.
7. I will not get diabetes or high blood pressure.
8. I will have more confidence.
9. I will increase my self-esteem.
10. I will feel I accomplished something very important that I have been trying to do for a long time.

I look forward to meeting everyone and pursuing this exciting yet at times challenging journey with everyone! WE CAN DO IT!

Hi! I just joined the team but I will not be posting till I get back from visiting my Mom, who lives out of State. I am looking forward to learning the program and getting to know everyone. I am busy packing today, I leave tomorrow.

I'm new too - am loving the positive vibe from this site. My advantages of losing weight are:

1. not getting nervous about what I'll wear when I'm invited to events.
2. I will feel comfortable in my body.
3. I will be in control of my eating.
4. I will be a good role model to friends, colleagues and family.
5. I will be healthy mum (when I get pregnant!)
6. I will look great naked!

I'm new to Sparkpeople. I was searching for teams to join when I came upon this one - the Beck Diet Solution. I had never heard of the book, but I just happened to be reading "The Happiness Hypothesis" and "Learned Optimism" which both discuss cognitive therapy.

So, I was soooo excited to learn that this book exists and I think it is what I have always needed ... a book that deals with the issues in your head, in your thinking, and helps you stay on a diet.

So I ordered the book and the workbook, and I am on day 2. I decided to do everything she says just the way she says to, instead of thinking that I know better, do things my way, and I should start my eating on Day 1 -- I'm going to wait and start on Day 15.

I'm really excited. I hope these techniques work for me.

I started dieting when I was in my teens and always thought I was "fat," even when I weighed 120 lbs. My weight slowly crept up over the years. After I had my first child I was stuck in the 140's, after my second child I was stuck in the 180's, after my last child I was stuck in the 190's, and now I'm at my all time high in the 200's. I wish I would have enjoyed being 120!!!!

All my weight is right on the abdomen. I've looked pregnant for years. People have always asked me when my baby is due (whether I am pregnant or not). They still do. I have metabolic syndrome and PCOS. I've got really good reasons to lose weight -- but it's always been so hard to stay on any diet.

So, I think this is just what I needed and am glad to be here!
