Hi all, I'm new to the team, but not new to sparkpeople. I gave birth a month ago and managed to lose the 20lbs I gained, as well as a couple more. Looking to keep going with my weight loss.

I'm a huge book reader, though I've not had a lot of time lately with a new baby lol. My favorite genre is horror, thrillers, paranormal. I mostly stay away from the over done romance stuff. Lol. I like books that make me think as well as are good reads. I'll admit I have a hard time getting into a book sometimes if it doesn't catch my interest right away. But I have a bookshelf full of books and a kindle full as well. Just can't bring myself to get rid of any!

Have an awesome day!
Andrea

Welcome! I loved Duma Key.

As for working in a library, I think that would be great. I keep saying if I win the lottery, I will definitely donate a chunk to the town library, but I also want to build one of my very own.

Hello,

I'm a life long reader. Since I began working at my local library a year or so ago, I've been reading much more outside my comfort zones of mystery and sci-fi. I'm looking forward to joining the readers here.

Hi, I'm new here and I love to read! My hubbie even bought me an ipad so I can "pack" around a whole library and I'm never without my books! I like fiction mostly, things like Stephen King, Robert Jordan, and C.S. Lewis. I have read the Twilight series and Harry Potter series as well. When I find a book I absolutely love, I usually read it multiple times.

One of my absolute favorite Stephen King books is Duma Key. I highly recommend it!
Also, a really long series but very enjoyable one is The Wheel of Time by Robert Jordan. If you haven't read them you should. It took me until about chapter 5 or 6 to get hooked but once you do, you will be glad.

Hello all,

My name is Sandy and I am an avid reader. I too like to read several books at a time. I read the Bible daily but also read a book on my ebook reader and one hardback book at a time. Right now I am reading the Wizard of Oz with my client, Lady in the Tower by Alison Weir, and
Evil leaders in History at night.

Hi all! I'm new here in the last day or so. I love reading and hate it when life interferes with my book time. I will typically have 3 or 4 books going at a time... one actual book, at least one on my Nook and an audiobook. This way I am never without. :)

Hi there,
my name is Fran and I recently joined to SP. I found this team browsing through the site and I think it's simply marvellous. Right now I'm being forced to read some books on linguistics, as I have some finals coming up, and as a pleasant side to those I'm currently reading Leblanc's "The Countess of Cagliostro". I hope I'll find some time to read the book of the month. I usually love mystery and fantasy books, but can read almost anything.
I can't wait to receive suggestions on books from you all emoticon

Welcome, Bonnie. I have a feeling our bookshelves might be similar.

Welcome, Flutter. I've been trying to add books I am "supposed" to read into the rotation. I'm currently on Last of the Mohicans. I really liked it at first. But if I see or hear (I'm listening to it in the car and reading it at home) the word "countenance" one more time.... Let's just say that I'm more than 1/2 way through, but I have to force myself to keep going at this point.

Hi Everyone, I'm an avid reader, have been all my life. I read pretty much anything. (Even the back of cereal boxes) emoticon I gravitate toward mystery and spy novels, paranormal, historical novel, some biography, some history (factual), no self-help books, please. This sounds like a group of kindred souls and I'm looking forward to getting to know all of you.

Hey Everyone... I'm new to the team but was very excited to see it existed lol I love to read, but most of my reading consists of Chick Lit - Romance, Suspense type stuff. I'm not big into horror reads or medical dramas. I have been trying to read more sophisticated books (currently trying to work my way through David Copperfield) but feel like I'm back in school by trying to bring the material more modern.

Good morning :)
I am excited to join this group because I am a bookworm! I'm a teacher so reading for enjoyment during summer vaca is one of my favorite things to do. I've already read several books this summer...some of which I have finished in one day (I'm a binge reader). I read on my kindle and LOVE it though I still love paper copies the best. The kindle is just soo immediate...new book in under a minute. I've also made it a goal to go back to school slimmer than when I left. I've been trying to exercise regularly (cause I have PLENTY of time for it now) and eat right. I'm buckling down for this last stretch of summer. Slimmin down this summer :)

Hi Everyone.
I joined spark eight months ago. But I was too overwhelmed with the site to truly appreciate the book teams. Now that I've been sparking a while, I feel more comfortable with the team concept. I look forward to sharing the spark journey with fellow book-lovers.

Hi everyone emoticon

I was a member here months ago and just now got back into reading. I missed the enjoyment and relaxation reading brings so I picked up my Nook yesterday and started a new book. I couldn't believe I read for hours! (and I'm a slow reader...lol) In my Nook library, there are just 4 books left to read but I'm hoping to add to it. I live in a small town and my library is very small and old. Once in awhile, I do drive to the next town over which is quite a bit larger and visit their library. Have a great day!

Hello everyone!
I am quite happy to have stumbled across this group! I am and have always been an avid reader! I never go anywhere without a book and often neglect doing housework to grab an extra few minutes on the coach with a good book.
I look forward to getting to know everyone!
Cheers!

emoticon D'Ann, Becky and BZMOM5! We are so glad you've joined our team! There are so many avid readers here and you can find some ideas for good books on several of the threads. The "What are you reading" thread and the "Books Read in..." thread are full of titles of books and many people leave comments or descriptions, too. Be sure to let us know what you are reading, too!

The July book discussions are underway. Pick up a copy of one or both if you are interested and then just start posting any comments or questions. We are a pretty casual group and as far as I know, nobody has been blasted for sharing their opinions here.

If you have any questions or suggestions for our team, feel free to message any of the team leaders. We look forward to getting to know you all better!

Hi there everyone, My name is Becky I'm new here and I LOVE to read. I always have trouble figuring out what to read next and have been out of the reading game for awhile so to speak, lol. I've always wanted to be a member of a book club and there aren't any in my area. I'm so grateful for a virtual book club. I know it may sound silly. Thank you for creating this and for keeping it going. I'm anxious to get started reading with all of you. July book I'm ready for ya.

Hello, my name is Aubrey. As of today, I am exactly two weeks from graduating nursing school! This will suddenly open up a world of free time, which I hope to spend improving my health and catching up on reading.

The genre I read most is fantasy, but I'm open-minded for most things in the fiction category. I may include some non-fiction after a while, but until then, my brain just processes it as another homework assignment!

Hi! My name is James and I have been on sparkpeople all of 4 days. lol. I enjoy reading, but find myself very picky about my books. I want something that challenges what I have thought before and adds to my world view. High standards. I joined this group as sort of a replacement behavior for my binge eating. I find that nothing makes me feel as good as the food, but I need to find something to entertain me and make me feel good that is not a binge on chocolate. So here I am trying it out with books. I was an avid reader from a very early age. My mother and father used to read to me at night. "The Giving Tree" is the one book that really stands out from those early days. Some of my favorite authors include W. Somerset Maugham, Frans De Waal, William Shakespeare, Edgar Allan Poe, Bob Woodward, and John Feinstein. Anyway, I am here to have lots of fun and I hope to be active in the community. Have a good day and good luck with your goals.

We are so glad you've joined our team! There are a lot of avid readers here and you can find some great ideas for books to add to your To-Read pile. Let us know what you are reading on the "what are you reading" thread. You can also rate books read each month to share with others whether a book is worth picking up or not. We are currently taking suggestions for June's book discussions and will be voting soon, so check out the "monthly reads" threads if you are interested in joining in. Looking forward to getting to know you better, too!

emoticon Birdee! I have always wanted to volunteer at our library to be around all those books! I'm sure you have found a lot of books to add to your "to-read" pile that all true book lovers have. We are currently voting for our May book discussions, so take a look at the threads and cast a vote. We would love to have you join in!

Howdy! I'm Birdee and I'm a book addict! I'm currently working as the director of a small public library. Now that I'm always working with books, I find that I have less time to read, so I'm excited to find a book club here!
I'm 30 (almost 31) and I've been married for almost a year. I work a lot of hours and have longish (40 minutes each way) commute so I'm looking to be more active in the little amount of free time I have.

P.S. Chicka-Chicka-Boom-Boom brings back memories~the days of children's books will be gone before you know it :)

Hi everyone, New here. My name is Jennifer, I am a married mother of two boys, working retail. I am so excited to find a book club on here. I really need help finding good books to read and to talk to others who like reading as much as I do - my children are young and there must be more to life than chicka-chicka-boom-boom.

The most important thing is to keep trying. You never hear a real success story ending in "and I sat on the couch the whole time."

Hiya Sparkpeeps! I'm new to the team but not new to Spark. My name is Daisy, I'm an avid reader (I usually aim to read 100 books a year) and I even work in a library so I think I'm fairly lucky in that department, lol! I've been on Spark for five years now and I hit goal weight in 2010 but then regained some of the weight so I'm trying to get my head back in the game. All in all I think I might love this team! Good to meet you all!

Mare~50 books in a year is great! My goal is to read more books than I did the year before. Good luck getting through your to-be-read pile :)

Gypsylady~I *try* to read at night, but usually fall asleep after one page~lol! I love that you've found a series that fits both your favorite genres :)

Hi Everyone. I'm pretty much the same avid reader and writer as the majority of all of you are. I read every night before I go to bed. It helps my brain to shut down and I love all the vivid dreams I have. I tend to lean toward the horror and fantasy genre, but really no genre is safe from these word devouring eyes of mine. I love them all, depends on my mood. Right now its fantasy and post apocalyptic books that have my eye and right now I'm reading an anthology of post apocalyptic fantasy stories, how cool is that!?
I'm new to this forum and have been a sparks member for a while but haven't really gotten serious, serious about it like I should. So that's why I'm hear. To make myself accountable. So this is the first day of the rest of my life.

Hi my fellow bibliophiles! I'm Mare and I've been deemed a bookworm since I was a kid. I love writing and reading. I'll read any genre - fiction or nonfiction - depending on my mood or if someone recommends a book. Since starting my weight loss journey at the end of August though, I haven't been making the time for reading like I used to unless it was a must-read book. I'm currently working to get back on track. I used to be able to read at least fifty books a year.

My reading goal this year is to read what's been sitting on my book shelves in my never-ending to-read pile. I kept putting it aside for library books and now I'm determined to get through them.

I usually have several books going at once, too. I try to read our monthly book, but I don't always finish them before the month is up. Hello, Fellow-Readers,

I'm loving combining reading and getting healthy. I've been retired--from secondary education--for 4 years now and am enjoying focusing on improving my quality of life by becoming healthier and spending more time reading. I'm part of several reading groups on goodreads.com, so I always have 3-5 books going at a time; don't always finish them--too many good ones to "force" myself to finish one--but that doesn't mean I won't go back and try again; different books speak to me at different times.

I live in Illinois and am married--my husband retired this year--and we have one daughter, now in her mid-20's. I really enjoy her.

I look forward to being a part of this team and participating in the monthly reads as I am able to.
Thank you for your warm welcome.

Hello all, I just joined both sparkpeople and the team. I'm currently living in New Orleans (and presently listening to a Mardi Gras parade). I work as a zookeeper and read whenever I can find the time. I've been in love with reading since 8th grade and haven't gone anywhere without a book since. I'm looking forward to finding new books and authors to explore.

Hi everyone! I'm new to this team but not to Sparkpeople. To be honest, I'm not even sure how I was subscribed to this forum but I'm so glad that I am! I'm a mother of a 7 year old and a 2 month old. I've been married to my junior high sweetheart for 8 years. I absolutely love reading! I've tried to participate in a local book club in my area (Charlotte, NC) but have found no luck so this is going to be a great opportunity for me. I work in the HR field and love what I do. I look forward to hearing from all of you and being able to participate in great discussions. Happy Reading!

Hi, I'm new to this team. I am a retired elementary teacher and am now tutoring. I volunteer at one of our city museums. I have always been an avid reader. As a child it was not unusual for me to have anywhere from 2 to 8 books going at one time.

Hi I am new to the team, but not to Spark. My name is Jacque. I live in Colorado, am the mother of 3, a special education teacher and I am an avid reader. I have to read everynight before going to bed or I can't sleep. I have been finding myself looking for new titles to read and am hoping to hear about some good reads here. I have requested from the library both of the books you are reading this month and the first one I get will be the one I read first. They both sound interesting. I am an introvert and I make way too many excuses. I look forward to getting to know you all and I wish you luck with your goals.

So happy to have you join our book club! We are discussing 2 books this month, so be sure to check out the discussion threads if you are interested in joining. Also, we have a monthly challenge which is a fun way to stay accountable and we'd love to have you participate in that, too.

CMCGUIRE~I love that you read a variety of books! I am reading Pride and Prejudice right now and confess that I am having a hard time with it. I LOVE the movie, but the book is taking me awhile to get through. I won't give up, though :)

DOILIEQUEEN~I am usually involved in a Bible study, too. I especially like Beth Moore and some of her books are free on Kindle right now.

My name is Michelle and I'm from Southwest Colorado. I've been on SparkPeople off and on (more off) the last few years. Started back yesterday and joined this group today.

I enjoy reading books about the Amish. Beverly Lewis and Wanda Brunstetter are my favorite authors on that subject. Also love reading Bible study books.

Currently I am reading "Freedom From Your Past" by Jimmy Evans and Ann Billington. Actually I'm re-reading. Didn't read it all the way through from Bible study class.

Hi everyone!

I'm Colleen. Like all of you, I love to read. Jane Austen is my absolute favorite author. I've read most of hers numerous times, and have finally read Persuasion and Mansfield Park for the first time this year (definitely NOT my last time either!). I also love the Harry Potter series (grew up with Harry, Ron, and Hermoine). I'm also into historical fictions (Susan Higginbotham), and Dan Brown books. I recently saw the Mortal Instruments movie, which has sparked my interest in reading that book series. Here's hoping I get a Barnes & Noble gift card for Christmas so I can add that to my Nook Library :)

Be sure to check out the "what are you reading" thread for some great ideas for books. Be sure to let us know what you are reading, too. Enjoy your new Nook! Hi everyone! I have been reading since I was a child. Loved the Nancy Drew books as a kid. In my 20's, I went through a period of Dean Koontz. I didn't read all that much in my 30's but have been pretty active with it in my 40's. I like fiction... horror as in Koontz, romance as in Sparks, and have been reading a few Dr. Wayne Dyer books which I have found very thought provoking!!

I ordered a Nook on Monday and it will be here next week. That will be a little different but I'm looking forward to it. I've been perusing the Barnes and Noble website for my first Nook book purchase. I think I'll try a totally different genre for something out of the ordinary for me emoticon

Hello:) I've been off and on SparkPeople over the past few years. Giving it a go and hoping that the 3rd time will be the charm:) I'm an avid reader and book blogger. I read almost all fiction genres except horror and westerns and have actually started reading some YA over the past few years...never read it when I actually was a Young Adult! I love talking books and am excited to find this group!

emoticon RKEENE67! We are so glad to have you join our team! Be sure to stop by the "What are you reading" thread and let us know about your current read. You might also find some good suggestions for your to-read pile. In December, we will have a new book to discuss and a new challenge to motivate us through the holiday season. Be sure to check out the team page and join in wherever you are comfortable. Happy reading!

Hi All,

Well what can I say? I like to read! I just finished The Twelve from Justin Cronin and am ready to start something new. I mostly read high fantasy and sci-fi but occasionally enjoy thrillers, westerns, and non-fiction such as history and astronomy/astrophysics. I am also an amateur writer and am working on a novel of my own.

I had the privilege of moonlighting at Barnes & Nobel for a year and enjoyed being around the books but my main job became too hectic so I had to quit.

Looking forward to meeting new people and giving and receiving support to become a fit and healthy person!

Usually I can't read a book in one sitting either but I was having a bout with insomnia and just didn't stop! Haha

emoticon Lairin, Sonya and Kimb3rl33!
We are so happy to have you join our team! We have some avid readers here and you can get some great ideas for books on the "What are you reading" thread. We are taking suggestions for our December book and will be voting soon, so be sure to join in if you'd like to.

Lairin~It sounds like you have to do some heavy reading for school! Glad you can take a break with some lighter stories. When I was in school, I didn't have any time for outside reading and I missed it terribly. Sounds like you've found a balance :)

Sonya~I joined goodreads, but I haven't done anything on my account. I do go there to get suggestions for books, though. I also love the library, but since I got my kindle, I don't go as often.

Kimb3rl33~I don't know if I've ever read a book in one sitting~lol! I am not the fastest reader and I find I can't sit still that long, but I like to read all kinds of books, too. That's one of the main reasons I joined this book club~to challenge me to read out of my comfort zone.

Happy reading and sparking to all of you!

Hi everyone! I'm new to Spark People & saw this group and just had to join. I love to read, the last thing I read was The Fault in Our Stars by John Green. It was great and I read it in one sitting. I will read just about anything as long as it catches my attention. My favorite book of all time though is a tie between To Kill a Mockingbird & The Scarlet Letter. I read both in school, but they just stuck with me. Looking forward to getting to know you guys!
