Hello, I've been a member but not active for a while. I'm trying to be more active on SparkPeople in general so I'm reintroducing myself. I find myself reading very different genres than I used to. I'm really excited about it. I have my to be read pile listed on goodreads.com. I found this helpful because several books were part of a series. It also helped me go through them and I sold many that no longer interested me. I still have so many. So far this year I read:
Together Tea by Marjan Kamali
Lamb by Christopher Moore
Tigers Destiny (CD) by Colleen Houck
Alaska Twilight by Colleen Coble
Pirate (CD) by Clive Clesser
Lilac Girls by Martha Hall Kelly
The Anatomy of Ghosts by Andrew Taylor
Land of Love and Drowning by Typhanie Yanique
White Oleander by Janet Fitch
Dead Dog Like Me by Max Davis
Almost Moon by Alice Sebol
The Church Builder by A.L.Shields
And currently reading
Wilderness Rising by A.L.Shields

Hello :) I just joined the group and I'm already super excited. I even went ahead and ordered the November book on Amazon. I love reading but none of the people around me like to read so I'm happy I have people to discuss books with!

My name is Taylor and I'm 25-years old. I'm a stay-at-home mom. My son is 2 & 1/2 years old. I definitely want more babies (I want one now!) but I know that I have got to lose this weight and get my health in order before I even consider it... My highest weight is 320 pounds... Currently I'm 277.8 and my goal weight is to reach 160 (recommended by my doctor). My doctor has recommended weight loss surgery but I'm wanting to try this on my own first.

I am an emotional/binge eater so I'm hoping that this group will distract me from that behavior! I could use as much motivation/support as possible so feel free to add me :)

Hello I just joined the team. I love to read every day. I prefer fiction - psychological thrillers are my favorite. I also read crime, mysteries and occasionally I mix it up with a cozy family story.
Reading relaxes me so most of the time I will read a few hours before bed. Looking forward to extending my reading interest here by your many suggestions.

Welcome to the team. I started listening to memoirs at the gym. I'm not as good at audiobooks as I am reading, so it's taken some practice. It's pretty cool listening to someone read their own words. It's almost like just listening to them talk to me.

Hello! I am an avid reader, tending to read a little bit more on the literary fiction side. Although lately I have had been reading a lot of memoirs... all sorts of people. I am looking forward to opening myself to new genres and finding new books to love.

Welcome to the team. I'm not sure if I'm gravitating more towards nonfiction or not, but I did notice a lot of my books were nonfiction this year. I'll have to see if that is a new pattern.

Hi I love to read and read most every genre although in recent years I have moved more toward non-fiction. I particularly enjoy research based non fiction. Right now I am reading a biography of Alexander Hamilton. I have just started the September book for this book club and think it is excellent! I am looking forward to being a part of this book club and finding new good reads through it!

I have been an avid reader since I first learned how to read. I have read from most genres and found something I have enjoyed in each of them. My favourite author is Neil Gaiman and my favourite book is The Book of Flying by Keith Miller. I am always open to new book suggestions and love talking about books!
I am really looking forward to meeting some fellow bookworms while on this journey to a healthier lifestyle!

I have always loved to read from the time I first learned, I have devoured books. I've been through all kinds of phases liking different types of fiction and non fiction. I started with my fairy tale phase in 3rd Grade followed by Bobbsey Twins, Hardy Boys and Nancy Drew. Then came my real science phase and real history. Then science fiction and historical fiction. Then I went back to mystery novels and read all of the books by Ellery Queen, Agatha Christie and Raymond Chandler. Now my tastes are very eclectic. I will try the first 100 pages of any book recommended to me. I ask friends and read reviews and belong to a book club in my community. I have lots of favorite authors but I am always adding new ones and deleting others. Right now I like books by Gregory, De Mille, Baldacci, Cornwell, Sanford, Reich, Slaughter, Grisham, Ware, Coben, See, Trigiani, Child, Brown, Chevalier, Shreveport, Archer and Gerritsen. My husband reads a lot of non fiction and always recommends to me the ones he thinks I will like. I am looking forward to making new friends who love to read and are also trying to lose weight and get healthy.

I like to read modern day fiction, drama - Brokeback Mountain by Annie Proulx- Jodi Picoult & Joyce Carol Oates & Anne Tyler (loved their stuff) I went through a horror phase Stephen King read all his stuff. Back in early teens my favorites were Trilogy of the Rings and all of Agatha Christie's mysteries. James Patterson is in my stacks, I still have too many of his novels to read. When I can't put my hands on a good gut wrenching drama then I rely on suspense via crime mysteries. Sometimes a good spy novel (but really, I ask you... who is better than Ian Fleming's 007 back in the day)

Hello ~ My name is Lynda and I love to read. I head up the local book club in our town. We read one book per month that is on a booklist. Some read more and some read many, many more. I have been a Spark People member for a few years now. I try to get on the computer at home a few times a week and at least once on the weekend. I am looking forward to being a part of this team ~ Happy Reading! emoticon

I am a 68 year old woman who has been married for 35 years. I have 6 grandchildren and 2 great grandkids. I am an avid reader and have been since I was 7. I talked some old man to sign my permission slip so I could get my first library card and it worked...lol. I've had an active card since then.

My favorite author is Nora Roberts though it doesn't matter who I read. I love her mysteries/ suspense. My favorite series is the Left Behind Series...all 13 volumes. I've read all 4 times and listened to the tapes and CD. My best single book is The Heartbreakers by......Garwood.

I can't wait to see what those here can get me into. Happy to be here.

Hello everyone! I have been a member for a while, but mostly off for a while! I am glad to be back especially now that summer reading is starting. I just finished reading a book by an author from my state of Idaho, called Idaho. It was very good, although I don't know what genre I'd put it in. It was a mystery of sorts, but a love story as well, a look into dementia... very interesting.
After that, I have picked up Charlotte's Web, childhood favorite and HP, The Goblet of Fire, which kept me occupied during a recent 4 hour flight!
Wuthering Heights is another favorite and if you can believe it, I have never read a Nancy Drew book, although I love those bed and breakfast mysteries, so I think it will be great to read an original!!

Normally murder/crime stories, when I was a girl I used to read old romance novels set in Spain, not sure why that changed so dramatically, hoping to try and get a balance in my choices

Hello everyone-I'm Sara and I love to read :) During the school year I really struggle to fit it in, (my 3 kids do an online school program so that keeps me pretty busy), but now that summer is almost here I'll have a lot more down time to read-yay! Our library has an adult summer reading program that starts in a couple weeks, and I have a goal to read at least one book a week, so I can put an entry in the prize box every week, (one book=one entry).

I have pretty eclectic reading tastes and like just about everything-mysteries, thrillers, horror, romance, book club, adventure, fantasy, PNR/UF etc etc.

I'm always amazed when people say they wish they had tome to read and then find out that they watch a lot of tv. Certainly there are people who honestly don' have much time to read (I know when I was going to school the only time I had was on the train on the way in or on the way home and mostly I was too tired to take much in). Choices. And like you, I would usually rather read than watch tv.

I have always loved to read. I belong to Bookbrowse and Good reads. I go to two libraries near my home. I have a huge library of my own too. I'm a nurse. I work full time at a local hospital. I have 9 children but only 3 of them live at home. I have 5 grandchildren. I am looking forward to reading with this team. People wonder how I have time to read. I think it's because I don't watch tv and you can always find time for what you love.

Hi. I just joined the team. I am an avid reader and have been doing my book discussions on Goodreads, but general discussions seem to be dwindling away. I don't have a lot of time to just chat but would love to talk about books and see what others are recommending.

I lead Biggest Loser and also one of the challenge teams, Black Panthers, which take much of my time when I am not reading and doing other real life stuff.

I've read some outstanding books this year and will share them as soon as I have a few minutes. I am excited to have found this team.

Hi all, my name is Sherri. I have always read a lot since I was a child. I am always looking for "books that can't be put down."

I love to read. I subscribe to Book of the Month, and I usually read at least 2 books a month. I have a pile of books waiting to be read, and I just can't stop adding to the list. :)

Hello Everyone emoticon
I've been a member of SparkPeople since I retired in 2008. For the past few years I've mostly participated on only one team and recently decided I want to branch out some. I love to read, mostly fantasy, mystery and young adult books but some science fiction and other genre's too. I'm a retired high school teacher and started reading young adult books when I was still teaching so I could discuss them with my students. I'm a big Harry Potter fan and still re-read that series from time to time. I love audio books because I can listen while I'm working around the house or when I exercise. I usually have one audio book I'm listening to and another on my eReader. I'm looking forward to getting to know some of the people on this team and participating in book discussions. For now I'll just take some time to look around. Feel free to drop by my Spark page and say "Hello."

Welcome to the team. Being able to jump in when you have a chance rather than meeting the 1st and 3rd Tuesdays of the month (or whatever real world schedule there happens to be) is great for me also.

Hey everyone! I just joined SparkPeople (and this team) today. =) This group seemed like a good way to branch out and read things I might not have otherwise picked up. I am looking forward to joining you.

Hi all.

I'm Emma. I am a New Zealander but live in Australia for now.

I am new to Spark People, and to book clubs. I am a huge reader and audiobook listener but have never been a member of a book club because my tastes are quite specific and I've never found a group that suits. My absolute favourite genre is fantasy (but I don't like sci-fi or dystopian stuff), and I like to mix it up with a massive historical epic every now and then.

I have joined this team to broaden my horizons!

Hello Rose! Welcome to A Book Club! I hope you jump right in and join us in one of our book discussion's soon. It sounds like your life is certainly busy! It's always a bonus to be able to fit in a good book here and there. It must be nice to live in Australia right now. Your summer is just beginning, while up north our winter is just about to start. Happy reading!

Hi Everyone. My name is Rose. I live in South Australia with my partner and our two soccer mad boys. When time permits I love to read. Lately I have been reading regularly and always look forward to our very hot summers when keeping cool is a priority and reading is the best pastime.
