SparkPeople Getting Fit for Cosplay Team Messageboard Do you go to Anime Conventions? Afraid to cosplay because of how you look? Want to touch up your costume by looking fabulous and feeling great? This is the place to do it! SparkPeople Getting Fit for Cosplay Team Messageboard Looking for a good convention to be my first one. I'm new to conventions and cosplay. I live in mid Missouri, so what is a good convention to attend as my first one? I will travel. How early would you suggest making travel and board arrangements? Sat, 11 Jul 2015 04:03:37 EST Hello peps My name is Shanna. I'm 29 and I've had enough of being overweight. I've been overweight since I was 13. I like supernatural fiction, sci-fi and fantasy. I'm a fan of star trek, star wars, lord of the rings, and Harry Potter. I plan to go to a convention and cosplay as a reward for reaching my ideal, healthy weight. I can't make up my mind on whether to go as Regina from Once upon a time, Tifa from FF7 or a Student from Hogwarts. Anyone have any other ideas? Sat, 11 Jul 2015 03:57:51 EST What are YOU watching? So I recently got into an anime called Parasyte The Maxim.
At first, I mistook this anime for a poor one because of the art. "What is with his hand? This art really bothers me."
But then I looked at the ratings. At the time I was looking for a good horror anime because I had just recently watched Yami Shibai. Which was interesting, but didn't give me my fill, more so laughs than anything.
Anyways the ratings for this particular anime was through the roof. So I thought why not... I admit to being very picky with the anime I like and video games. However I got back in the cosplay scene this year and can't wait to meet more and get/give motivation. Tue, 9 Dec 2014 21:30:54 EST Newbie Hi all, I'm Altria, and I obviously really love the Fate series. I don't have any particular costume in mind right now as a motivator, but I would love to do Seras Victoria (Hellsing) or Alter Saber at some point. I'm incredibly terrible at introductions. Uh.. I'm into anime and gaming, especially RPGs. Some of my favorite series are (in no particular order besides whatever pops in my head first) Arakawa Under The Bridge/xBridge, Nichijou, Azumanga Daioh, Clannad/After Story, AIR, Kanon, Little Busters (really anything Key. I'm a Key fangirl.), Dragon Ball Z, Sailor Moon, Trigun, and many others. I have fairly broad tastes.

I thought it was cool that there's a community dedicated to ... I actually managed to get back to the same weight I was last year. It's not a total win since I didn't lose anything, but I'll take it. I think I will be cosplaying Dead Master again this year since I didn't really have the money to make a new costume. What is everyone else going as?

If you see me at Otakon you should come up and say hi!
(you can find pics of me on my face... Wed, 31 Jul 2013 08:31:16 EST New to the Group Hi all! Sat, 20 Feb 2010 11:02:57 EST Suggestions?? So I'm thinking of doing something inventive for my con this year since its soooo hard to choose a cosplay costume. I was thinking that it might be pretty cool as going as the african american versions of different anime characters, from Sailor Moon to Inuyasha. What do you guys think? Thu, 18 Feb 2010 22:51:17 EST Your Costumes: Bought or Handmade? So I was just curious to see how most of you do your costuming for cosplay. I've actually never bought a costume flat-out, nor have I ever made a costume completely from scratch, but from the research I've done it seems like it generally comes out to about the same cost (depending on the costume, of course).

Typically I alter found-objects that I get at thrift stores and stuff, and I know a lot of other people do that too, but I wanted to see what the rest of you do! Fri, 5 Feb 2010 09:55:47 EST - - Sat, 2 Jan 2010 22:27:32 EST July Challenges Take your experiences from the past month, and evaluate their effectiveness.
If something worked well, then build on it in July.
If something gleaned zero results, figure out why and revamp it, or find another path.
This month is revision time. For the last 3 weeks or so I've been eating between 1200-1500 calories and exercising my butt off even though I have 0 time to do it between working two jobs and trying to finish a costume before Otakon.

But for some reason I've gained 4 lbs =(

My usual exercises are one day= DDR 40 minutes, then various strength training, about 10 different types ranging from 40-100 of each type.

Then my other day is running(the entire way) 1 mile, and doing a tape of Billys ... Fri, 19 Jun 2009 09:01:58 EST Anime/Manga Recommendations Post your favorite manga/anime, give a little info about it and maybe we can take a poll to see which ones are more popular with this group.

Mine include a myriad of genres so a here is a sampling:
Naruto - yes I am a Narutard. Sat, 30 May 2009 22:38:34 EST Monthly Goals What are some goals you have set outside of the ones already given in Sparkpeople.
Finish a costume.
Research the next series for you to become addicted to.
Try a new cuisine, fitness, hobby.
Save some dough for the next convention.
Finish planning your wedding. Alright Anifreaks. What kind of challenges would you like to see with this group.
-Lose 10 lbs by July?
-Workout so much time this June?
-Eat 5 servings of fruits and veggies week?

Let me know something. Tue, 19 May 2009 08:41:19 EST It's bold, it's new, it's me! Hi everybody. My name is Holly and I am looking to lose some weight so I can reasonably portray some of my favorite anime characters. I know a lot of times people dress up anyway regardless of their size, just pick someone without a revealing costume and make it in your size, but I don't like doing that. The perfectionist in me knows that it isn't right since that's just not how the character is supposed to look. Maybe that's just me. I know I probably won't do anything terribly revealing, no... Sat, 9 Aug 2008 21:52:27 EST Just Curious...Who's going to Otakon??? This year's going to be my first year going to Otakon, just wondering who else is going? Thu, 24 Jul 2008 09:42:13 EST Hello Hi, I'm Amanda. I just joined the group and cosplaying is one of my major motivators for getting rid of my excess tummy.

I've always wanted to do Sailor Moon from the SuperS Saga. =3 (No one wants to see a chubby Sailor Moon!)

I've never cosplayed before mainly because I'm a perfectionist and I couldn't stand dressing up as a favorite character only to make them look awful because of a poorly made costume or an overweight me. Sat, 5 Jul 2008 17:43:03 EST June Fitness and Nutrition Goal? Would everyone be up for some team fitness goals? Utakomomo and I were talking and we thought maybe something like:
- Parapara/DDR 1hr a week
- Exercise related to your character twice a week (like, if you are doing a character from a shounen, maybe do martial arts or something similar) to help you get in shape and in character.
- Eat 5 fruits/veggies a day. Cuz...we have a tough time with this one and we're guessing we aren't the only ones.

What does everyone else t... Sun, 1 Jun 2008 12:29:23 EST Juggling school, cosplay, and cons Well, I've decided to become a masochist and make a cosplay with zero help from friends or anything and... yeah. I hadn't thought school would be this hard. Hard? Yes. Knew that. THIS hard? No notion whatsoever.

My weight's seemingly under control as I get to write 131 today! As that was two days in a row, I think it's pretty accurate and so I will try to challenge myself not to weigh in for a week.

October 5th, I come home for Mom's birthday, and Manga Next the ne... Wed, 19 Sep 2007 09:23:13 EST It's been awhile It's been awhile, but finally back and posting.

Convention season is over, and I'm in my first of the last four semesters at school before I get my BA -- considering now I'm living on campus, I'm absolutely petrified of the Transfer-Ten+ instead of wanting to lose more, certainly.

Future cosplay plans --

Seems I'm sticking with D.Gray-man for the long haul. Planning on hiking up to Ohayocon this January and, if I can lose a bit more, try to reward myself by m... Sun, 9 Sep 2007 12:24:52 EST Hi I am new to Spark Pages and I found this team. I knew this was a team for me because currently the only costume I could possibly hope to fit in, character wise, is a white mage due to my weight. My goal is to be small enough to possibly be Yuna from FFX. Currently I am 255.5lbs, my goal weight is 180 by next year. Sat, 26 May 2007 21:14:01 EST Fitness Plan I want to get back into kick boxing, my favourite cardio exercise seconded closely by Boot Camp. Today was my first work out in two weeks and I did the class -- a bit sore but worth every minute of it.

The scale was fractionally lower than 136 at the gym, not enough to list but it was something for eating, well, terribly. I hope to get to 130 by Animazement when I see my Aunt and Uncle as well as make new friends. Undoubtedly, I'll detox like crazy the week before because I do s... Mon, 23 Apr 2007 17:48:06 EST Introduce Yourself! Hey everyone, this is your admin/mod/God person, and welcome.

My personal goals are to lose twenty more pounds before Anime Next and the rest of the convention season. I'm planning on going to Otakon. I'm interested in the Yaoi/BL/Shonen Ai series as well as some of the comedic dramas.

Completed Cosplays are: Amano Ginji (Get Backers), Seguchi Tohma (Gravitation), Sohma Hatori (Fruits Basket), Heero Yuy (Gundam Wing), Quatre Raberba Winner (Gundam Wing), and Dr. Gregor...
