SparkPeople Healthy Hearts Team Messageboard New to Sparkpeople and to this Team Hello: My name is Jim and live with my wife in a small city on the Can/USA border. I am going with the "its never too late" focus in order to regain some semblance heath and fitness. I haven't picked the best starting point having gone through 2 open heart surgeries, a recent heart attack, P.A.D., high blood pressure, high cholesterol, high triglyceride level, clinical depression, P.T.S., cancer believed in remission, sleep apnoea, tendinitis, and types of arthritis, but otherwise fit as ... Mon, 1 Feb 2016 23:09:10 EST Tish is ready to change my lifestyle This is a new year and I hope a new lifestyle for me. I have been on a lot of diets and even had gastric by-pass seven years ago. I do not exercise right and I have totally lost all focus of proper eating habits. I hope this support and group of spark people will be the help I need. Then I want to help others with the success I will have this year. Stay with me people. Wed, 27 Jan 2016 20:15:38 EST Bundle branch block buddy? Hey all,

I am a 46 year old female, I have a left bundle branch block and right anterior hemi block. This seems to affect me at the weirdest times, with seemingly no trigger or warning. It's congenital, apparently. My mother has it too, and had to get a pacemaker at 61.
Any one else with this condition? How does it affect you? Tue, 26 Jan 2016 19:51:50 EST Anybody else had cardioversion? I was dx'd with idiopathic cardiomyopathy about 5-1/2 years ago, improved with bivent/ICD and two prescription meds. Other than having low blood pressure, I've been reasonably well until I caught a really bad cold last month. That apparently triggered atrial fibrillation that wouldn't quit. I bloated up, was given more drugs, and scheduled for cardioversion which I had recently.

Overall the cardioversion wasn't fun but not too bad either. The sedation worked well. I'm wondering ho... Mon, 18 Jan 2016 12:32:22 EST New to the team Hi! I just got here. I had a heart attack in September 2014, a stent was placed and I have done well. It was a shock to say the least, I was 52 and my only health problem I had (that I knew about obviously) was that I was overweight and needed to get fit. From that day to this now I'm on meds and have a cardiologist ( who is great, by the way) Anyway the adjustment is tough. Anyway here I am on SparkPeople and ready to get fit, drop the excess weight and live on. Thu, 14 Jan 2016 10:45:38 EST Hi Hi I a starting today. Mon, 11 Jan 2016 23:50:34 EST Hi, I'm new to this team This is the team where I need a lot of support. I had heart bypass surgery, it will be 2 years on the 23rd of this month. So far not too bad. I unfortunately have a lot of other health issues that I won't bore you with.
My Cardiologist tells me I have to lose weight. She thinks I should just eat protein and veggies and no bread. That would be ok if I could stomach some foods. She told me that I have to force myself to eat. Well I am trying. But I seem when I don't want to eat to ... Tue, 5 Jan 2016 21:35:47 EST Trying the Ornish Diet Hi, my name is Erik. I'm 53. I have not gone to the doctor and got my heart checked out lately. A few years ago it got a clean bill of health. However, my father started battling heart disease around this age so I am trying to learn from his mistakes. Bad news from my cholesterol tests sent me off the edge for a couple of days but I am back on track. What was most discouraging about the tests was that my LDL jumped from 100 to 155. This blew me away as I had been eating very healthy. I even made it a point to make almost all my 40ish grams of daily fat very healthy ones. However I did discontinue taking Lipitor about a month before I had the tests because of experiencing peripheral neuropathy type symptom... Wed, 29 Oct 2014 16:16:43 EST I'm new Hello,

I joined SP in 2010, did really well for over a year until I had a major surgery at the end of 2011. since then I have struggled with motivation. In June of this year, my husband had a massive (widow maker) heart attack that was complicated with a massive lung hemorrhage. He was given 30 minutes to live, then the best prognosis became brain dead. However, he walked out of the hospital 19 days later, has returned to work, riding his bike and has gone for a couple of easy jogs... Wed, 29 Oct 2014 09:33:00 EST Hello everyone I am new here. More importantly, I miss the feeling of being fit. Before moving to Florida, I worked out 6 days each week. Sometimes, it was only a 45 minute brisk walk, but most days I found my way to the YMCA. When I moved here, the YMCA was lacking and before I knew it, I was becoming a couch potato. I found a gym I like and here I go!
