Choose your destination and find out how many miles it would take for you to walk there, then hop on the treadmill (or sidewalk) and start tracking the miles you've walked. SparkPeople Where are YOU walking to? Team Messageboard January 2018 - Walking in Denmark I just got back from a very cold walk to open 2018. So I was thinking that as long as I was cold, I should walk virtually in a location that might be cold, but would at least be somewhat exotic. So we are going to Denmark, and heading out a peninsula that is surrounded by lots of water.

How does this work?

You pick a distance from the options below and each day you walk, run, jog, elliptical your way to achieving the distance. Mon, 1 Jan 2018 13:57:04 EST December 2017 - Camden Town, London, UK I've been seeing commercials for a movie about the writing of A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens. If memory serves me, Bob Cratchit, Mr. Scrooge's poorly treated clerk lived with his large family in Camden Town. Or at least I think I remember that from a movie where Scrooge sends the butcher off to Camden Town to delivery a VERY large turkey to the Cratchit family.

So, now that the destination is set, what next? Fri, 1 Dec 2017 18:45:55 EST November 2017 - Turkey, NC We're going to stay in the southern US for the moment and walk to Turkey, NC. It's great for walking.

How does this work? Pick a route from the options below and then each day walk or run or jog or elliptical to cover the miles. Wed, 1 Nov 2017 09:28:41 EST October 2017 - Pumpkintown, South Carolina I was looking for a suitable October destination and my mind stayed in Europe, briefly, when I thought maybe walking in Transylvania would be interesting. Then I remembered that here in NC, we have a Transylvania County, with a really cool town called Brevard. Aha! A possible destination. As luck would have it when I zeroed in on Brevard in Google Maps, I saw Pumpkintown, South Carolina! Sun, 1 Oct 2017 07:36:19 EST September 2017 - Santiago de Compostela We are going to walk in Spain in September. You might ask why....well, because I'm actually going to be in Spain and walking for a couple of weeks this month. My walking trip is portions of the Camino de Santiago, an ancient pilgrimage that ends at Santiago de Compostela. I won't be walking the required 100 kilometers (I think that's the requirement to earn a Pilgram's Badge) that ends at Santiago de Compostela, but I will be there at some point.

How does this work?

Pick... Sun, 2 Jan 2011 10:09:57 EST January 2011 - Walking to Negril, Jamaica We need a warm walk in January. There's far too much talk of snow in North America, so we're headed somewhere warm. We would love to have any and all join us on a walk to Negril, Jamaica.

How does this work?
- Pick a distance from the list below.
- If you need a different distance, please post and say that you do, and how long you'd like it to be and I'll find a walk for you that ends at Glacier.
- Post to this thread and tell us what walk you're signing up for.
... Fri, 31 Dec 2010 20:49:12 EST Destination - Goose Pimple Junction, VA - Dec 2010 We seem to be on a weird theme involving various kinds of fowl and so in December our destination is Goose Pimple Junction, Virginia. It's up in the southwest corner of Virginia, not far from Bristol. If you don't know Bristol Virginia, then you'll be interested (maybe) to learn that there is also a Bristol Tennessee. I'm told that one side of the main street in Bristol is in Virginia and the other side is in Tennessee.

How does this work?
- Pick a distance from the list below... Wed, 1 Dec 2010 08:34:30 EST 48.2 miles to my daughter's house Starting off with something attainable. My son lives within the same city as me, very close, probably only about 5 miles. My daughter lives 48.2 miles away, so that's my first "where am I walking to" goal. My other son lives probably 1500 miles away. So I'll set that after I get to my daughter's. wow..... Mon, 29 Nov 2010 00:33:18 EST New Journey Hello Teammates,

My name is Tristine and I joined Sparks back at the end of Sept. 2010. I had been faithfully walking for about 6 weeks- missed only 3-4 days. When I first started out, I wasn't even able to walk a mile however; by the end of the 6 weeks, I was walking 4-5 miles with ease. Then my husband got a new job and life became more hectic. I quit walking and realized I was only hurting my self and my goal to becoming healthy again. Four weeks had passed before I laced up my ... Tue, 2 Nov 2010 22:01:53 EST A walk in Turkey - November 2010 The month's walk is in Turkey for two reasons - because Armistice Day (end of WW I) is November 11th and the Ottoman Empire, of which modern day Turkey was a part played a role in the War to End all wars. Also, here in the US, we have Thanksgiving, when we all partake of turkey. So we kind of hit two themes for the month. Plus last month we walked to a town named Duck, so I guess we have to fowl months in a row! (Sorry 'bout that...)

20

How does this work? <BR... Fri, 15 Oct 2010 17:17:15 EST Keeping Track Hi!
I'm new to this group today and I have a question...
I've decided to walk from home to Acadia National Park (one of my favorite places and about 601 miles away according to Google Maps). Is there somewhere to keep track of our miles on the Spark website or do we just put our miles in our posts?
(If there isn't a mileage tracker and someone's good with computers, I think it would be a great idea.)
Thanks for your help! 41 Mon, 11 Oct 2010 10:00:47 EST
