I've had RA since I was 15 (24 now) although it spent several years in remission. I am new to the diagnosis of RA. And yet, there remains a question of the diagnosis. I have had joint pain, with exhaustion, early morning stiffness, swelling hot joints and flare ups, for years. My pain went from the knees after a car accident, to my elbows and then wrists and hands. I am in the middle of a horrible flare up this week and am just biding my time until i can get home to rest. I had a negative Ra factor and low sed rate awhile back, but then i started having this flar... Yep, full blown RA not JRA. I had a really hard time with this diagnosis in the begining. I went from being a very active teenager to barely able to move about. My rheumy was an older and very old school Dr. but I loved him, he was so great to me! Sadly, he retired and I haven't really been happy with any of my Dr's since. I feel like an old pro when it comes to RA. I've been on ju... I'm awaiting the final news but most doctors have said its likely I have RA. Had strokes years ago due to antiphospholipid antibodies, trigeminal neuralgia or Sjogrens (never heard the decision on that one) mom and aunt both had poly myalgia rheumatica. So the docs are leaning towards RA. Have had such terrible pain in my neck, lower back and hips for the last few weeks. I toughed it out, tried a new pillow, took Vicodin, gabapentin and methocarbomal since I had those in the house but oth...
