I am Emmers, I'm 24 (until July at least) and addicted to taking pictures.

I'm also about 120-150 lbs heavier that I'd like to be.

I currently have a point-and-shoot camera (Kodak Z5120) and it works for me, but I sometimes with I had something with more kick.

I got a camera for Mother's Day from DH. A Canon Powershot SX280 with an awesome zoom lens. We have bird feeders and now I can zoom in for great shots of the birds, something my iPhone camera can't manage.

I had another Canon previously but my daughter always borrowed it. It's probably in her room somewhere and is at least 10 years old.

My Dad, who has been gone for 24 years, was into photography in his early adult years. He had quite an eye for it but I guess got to...

Hi there, I'm Trish, 54 years old, living in south Florida with my hubby of 32 years.

I lost 100 pounds with Spark People in 2009-2010, before real life raised its ugly head and sent me into a tailspin.
In the past three years I have gained almost 40 pounds back, but have still kept off 60+ pounds. Life has settled into a new normal and it's time to make "me" my priority.

All my previous Spark Friends have also disappeared, so I'm looking to have a group of friends...

This weekend I went to the second session of Nikon School "Color, Light, Technology."

I'd like to be more proficient with flash, off-camera flash in particular so I figured it would be worth my time. I've just recently joined spark and am loving it so far. I am also a professional photographer, I've lost that "spark" of taking pictures just for the absolute joy of it. Yesterday I decided to take my camera with me on my walk. I didn't see anything that inspired be however, but at least I took it with me. Maybe next time, as I learn to see things again, I will find inspiration.

Never realized how bad Google+ is

So, if you've seen my posts, you've noticed the links are to Google+. They quickly hooked me on simplicity and integration but I just noticed something. They resample the images into mush. The Walt Disney World album I tossed in my introduction has some really bad black levels from me getting lazy outputting the RAW. So, I fixed them and re-uploaded them and...they still look terrible. The original files look fine but once uploaded, they become very unsharp. Here is an example.

I hope to get an answer soon. I'm doing an online photography course from Photojojo. It's with the iPhone so no other camera is allowed in this course. This assignment from yesterday is to take a photo using natural light so that the subject appears to be a silhouette. Problem: no sun where I'm at. It's dark and overcast, storming horribly, street is blocked off so I can't even travel anywhere. Assignment needs to be done by tomorrow evening. Any ideas? Today was not a good day for me!!!!

Yesterday evening it was evident Cody was having problems. This morning when I took him out at 8:30 he was very lethargic. I had my sister take me to the Vet. When the vet came in he immediately said, "This doesn't look good." After listening with his stethoscope he told me Cody had no heartbeat (just rumbling) so I had to have him put to sleep.

While I was not ready to let go yet, I didn't want him suffering any more. However, my life...

The light was terrible right there. :-)
I've made two promises: The first is that I need to lose the weight I've gained back (I lost 190, found 80 of it again) and the second was joining an online photography community. Spark helps me check off two boxes at once.

My name is Cheltsi (obviously) and I'm new here. I have a total weight loss goal of 94 lbs and have completed 25lbs of that. I have a strong photography background as well as a passion for it. Lately though, I have lost all.... inspiration. I have no drive or desire to pick up my camera, no inspiration to "capture the moment". I'm hoping this group drives me back to my passion! One of the things I look for is things that people see but don't take the time to look at. Or hiding things in a picture. For example some thing in my way that I may move so that object is behind a tree. or actually lying on the floor which I did at a wedding while the bride and groom were on a stage about 3 ft high. I go out of my way to take pictures. I may move something out of the way or rearrange somethings. . I have gone over and around barriers.

Some CDS I get so perfect when I have burned them and then I check them over and then mail them out but they cannot view them the two people. . My sister in-law got a laptop new and a T.V. So I am thinking that could be the problem. All the other times she has had know problem with her regular T.V or her old computer. Not a laptop. The old one she had..

Perhaps to test she should try the ones I made her to see if she can still see them if she cant then it must be her new lap...

Wow is it hard to get a picture with my camera of a owl. They say they have so many eyes and of course he turned his head around. Hubby tried . He was circling over my hubbys head and all winged in flight. Was beautiful but with my camera I cannot get it in.

Question about calories being burned

For the first time I did 30 minutes work out with Leslie Sanson. The four step was good but not into the high steps yet so did little lifts. I found the rest okay. Seeing I have osoarthritis and the sciatic left leg. I could not lift the leg too high. I did the cool downs with her not any problem.

Does anyone know how many calories burned in those 30 minutes. I see you can have it to be other exercises each day as a reminder on your Fitness but I am not ready for any floor exercis...

Hi! I'm on a long journey to get my health back and my life. I decided to use my passion for scrapbooking to begin keeping a photo journal along my way. Preserving memories has always been important to me but now that I have 2 brain tumors and am losing my memory, its taken on a whole new importance. Non-dialysis Kidney Disease

My daughter was diagnosed with sudden onset Stage 5 Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) when she was just 29. The doctors told her she'd be on dialysis within months. Trying to get to where I was

I am a grandma who has always been very active. At least I was until I had an accident and broke my kneecap. This injury has really sidelined me and now I find myself gaining more lbs. than I know what to with. I work full time, many days on my feet all day, so consequently, after I get home and get dinner cooked, I find it hard to do any besides sit. When we are taking pictures many times these pictures seem ordinary but there are Shapes that we haven’t noticed. Like looking down on a “circle” intersection. Four trash cans sitting together where the handles of the lids formed a “square”.
Firefighters working with a hose which formed a “triangle”.
What do you see?

Good morning, I found Sparkpeople yesterday while surfing the internet and was hesitant to try it, but here I am and am going to work on following this program, the strategies I've read make sense, I'm 61 soon to be 62 and have battled weight all my life, up down up down. So glad I was directed to this forum by other members.

When I started marathon training in February 2011, I put $25 away into an envelope in a safe for each long run. The goal was after the Rock 'n' Roll Savannah Marathon in November I would reward myself with something nice. I was thinking a nice GPS watch. Imagine my surprise when I looked in the envelope and found a Garmin 210 AND a Nikon 5100 kit.

So I think in an attempt to keep what iv got going, I am going to try and take a new photo walk each weekend, I know that the weekends are my biggest fallback times of the week because I still struggle with eating out of boredum, and on the weekends my wife sleeps until sometimes as late as 2 pm, so it doesn't give me much to do but watch the kids, and I snack too much.

So im thinking if I find a new photo walk to take each weekend, that will not only give me some more ideas of p...

I am currently using PS Elements 8 for Mac. What programs'pluggins do you use/recommend for correcting lens distortion? I have seen Dxo Optic Pro which looks like a good product but am not sure if it is the best value.

Hi there all does anyone know how i can water mark my photos for free. I have tried picasa but cant seem to place it on the photo only the edge which can easily be cropped off. Is post production "cheating" or just the modern equivalent of darkroom rendering from the old days?

Does it violate some type of photographic standard to add "emotion" to an image the camera alone could not record?

Interested in your opinions.

Studio Lighting

I have seen several looking for relatively inexpensive studio lighting.

The challenge I had being involved in Help Portrait last year was lighting. I wasted a lot of money trying to find an expensive solution.

The best solution I have found is a vendor on Amazon called Cowboy Studios. They have a single light stand with "shoot through" umbrella for about $30. I use two of these:

I just started shooting in RAW. I love how you can adjust everything on the computer. Now I need to be able to get my pictures on Facebook and flickr. When I save the pictures it saves them in .dng. How do I get them to save in .jpeg also? Or do I need to use RAW+jpeg instead?

Insurance came through. Canon 7D arrived today.

I say "sorta" because now all I have to do is figure out how to use it. It is laid out a lot different than my K20D was. Lots of manual reading ahead.

I have never traveled with alot of photo equipment, but I am taking a trip to Tuscan AZ in a few weeks and I am going just to take pictures. If I have all of my equipment in a carry on camera bag, do I have to take all of my lens and stuff out of the bag. My tripod will fit in my suitcase that I am checking in. Should I put some of my filters and things in my check in bag. Any Advice? Also any ideas about specific places to go in the Tuscan area? I would like to get some pictures of sandh...

My bf offered to get me the Nikon J1 for Christmas. We have 4 of the D series cameras between us, and I have the S8000. My first inital thought was WOW this little camera packs alot of punch in a small package. My second look at it was a bit of a downer... the lens has all electronic moving parts. :( I opted for the 9100 instead. Was wondering what others think about this camera/would like to here about shooting experiences with the J series.

Forced into buying a new camera. My camera bag with 70% of my equipment was stolen.

I have always shot Pentax. But Pentax has a "ceiling". Nikon and Canon has no "ceiling" going up to full size sensors.

Now I have to find out what model Canon/Nikon comes closest to my K20d's functionality as well as which one had the "feel" I prefer.

New Shutterbug -looking for accountability partner
