Thu, 1 May 2014 07:34:10 EST Question about the low fat aspect http://www.sparkpeople.com/myspark/team_messageboard_thread.asp?board=-1x7696x57576630 A bit about me: I was vegetarian for 20 years, then "cooked" vegan for the last 5, and now a few weeks into being 100% raw vegan. I have already lost 5 kilos without ever starving myself and I really am feeling a difference. My question is, why does there seem to be an emphasis on the raw vegan diet needing to be low fat? There are some very healthy foods that contain pretty high concentrations of fat: avocados, seeds, coconut, etc, but these are good fats that are beneficial to our bodies.... I signed on to the team a few weeks ago because I was looking for a raw group that wasn't eating tons of nuts and dried fruit. When I realized the group was specifically for people doing the 80-10-10 diet, I looked up reviews of the diet online and was scared off by the amount of fruit. After a couple of weeks researching, I kept finding people speaking well of the 80-10-10 Diet and finally decided to read the book. It ends up being exactly what ... We eat as if we live in a beautiful garden, miles from any other food source. Just the fact that our food is not cooked (read denatured) separates us from the majority of the population. For some reason we are the odd ones out, not those who take fresh food and do to it what they would never want done to their own bodies: they scald it, they boil it, they roast it, etc. And then they eat it.

Please read RAWO... Then you just need to be very careful with your selections. Perhaps also being creative would resolve these issues.

How much do you consume of packaged and processed phood items?

Fri, 13 Apr 2012 08:10:33 EST NO calorie restrictions on LFRV!!!! http://www.sparkpeople.com/myspark/team_messageboard_thread.asp?board=0x7696x47559129 Yup! We people eating 80/10/10 count calories to be sure that we get enough calories, not to restrict them. Have you ever sen a monkey reject a banana because she might gain an ounce? Uh huh!

Easiest way to get enough LFRV calories is to make smoothies with loads of fruit. Get in a great big smoothie for breakfast.
