Thu, 18 Oct 2012 16:13:09 EST love my pugs hi I just joined sparkpeople and it looks like a very interesting place to explore. I have had pugs since my dad brought home our first one when I was two. I am 55 now and have two pugs one fawn and one black. I don,t think you could ask for happier friendlier dogs. Since I have grandkids i'm so happy that pugs are usually kid tested and approved from day one. Wed, 4 Apr 2012 10:09:18 EST Adopted our first pug Hi, everyone...I stumbled across this group while looking for something else.

We adopted our first pug at the beginning of the year. She was rescued from a puppy mill, is almost eight years old, and we've had her for two months.

I've always loved pugs, and my husband has been partial to Boston Terriers, but when I showed him the pug rescue page, it was love at first sight for him too, so we applied to adopt one. :-)

Our little girl is fawn with black mask, and... Sat, 1 Oct 2011 20:39:51 EST Pug Funnies What cute or funny thing has your pug kid done recently? One or more of mine will occasionally have a really loud fart, the he or she will be startled by it and look to see where the sound came from. It never fails to crack me up Fri, 30 Sep 2011 09:09:10 EST Pug snacks, what do your pug kids like? Mine like pretty much everything, but what they really like is to go into the veggie patch and eat all my asparagus in the spring and all my cherry tomatoes in the summer and fall. They absolutely drool at the prospect of running to the garden Tue, 27 Sep 2011 08:46:19 EST What is your favorite thing about fall? My favorite thing is the light, the lower sun casts wonderful shadows and highlights the beautiful colors, my house is lighter because the sun can reach in further, and the lower temps and humidity of course. Fri, 16 Sep 2011 09:42:53 EST I'm back My old ID on SparkPeople was deleted from inactivity, but I've regained some weight so I'm back. Spike is my grand-pug. He's a six year old fawn. I love SparkPeople and Pug Village! I have also been known as PPPuggrammie. Thu, 15 Sep 2011 20:36:45 EST Pug Meetup! Does anyone else belong to a local pug meetup group? We have on here in Kalamazoo, MI and I'll be going to my 1st meetup tomorrow :) I'm pretty excited to meet other pug owners in our area and plus have Romeo and Oscar meet new friends :) If anyone has been to these meetups, did you have a good time and did the pugs all get along pretty good? I'm sure they will because they do like groups! Sat, 6 Aug 2011 14:13:22 EST How much do your pugs weigh? So...the vets (depending on who we see because there are several at the animal hospital) give me conflicting opinions on my pug's weight. According to their chart, apparently a female pug is supposed to be no more than 18 lb (~8kg). At the last check up, the vet said she was completely happy with her weight (24 lb) and that she looked healthy. She eats 1 cup (measured) of diet food a day, gets 3 carrot sticks as a snack, and walks 2 miles a day. Unfortunately, she had an ear infection at t... Mon, 11 Jul 2011 12:29:40 EST Pug dental cleaning! I saw an 18 year old blind, deaf pug with 1 tooth the other day and she was the sweetest thing ever but I thought to myself, "I'd better start getting Cashew's teeth cleaned because she'd be devastated if in her old age, she couldn't eat anything and everything because she didn't have teeth!". So I upgraded her pet health plan and she's getting a dental cleaning in a few weeks. She already despises her twice a year check ups so I'm sure she's not going to be thrilled about someone prying in... There are three corgis, and in another yard adjacent to ours, there is a beagle and a bassett hound, who are occasionally visited by a smaller mixed-breed dog. Sophie has appointed herself as the 'neighborhood watch' dog and will sit quietly by the fence until they come outside into their respective yards; at that point she will tell them firmly... Mon, 9 May 2011 10:16:44 EST Do your pugs like veggies or fruit? Daisy Mae loves broccoli and cauliflower and green beans. She is not a fan of carrots (unless cooked). Most of my dogs have liked a slice of apple. Vet says - good, but warns (laughingly) about stinky flatulence after the broccoli. Sun, 8 May 2011 09:54:44 EST Huddling I've been away from Spark People for a time. Now that I am back I would like to get points for huddling with my teams but I can't seem to find how to do that any more. I have had 4 Pugs and they all have been TV watchers. Close TV watchers. I will be doing needlework on the couch, sitting quietly working away, and if a child or an animal (even cartoon) comes on the screen there is carrying-on like a robber entered the room. Jump off the couch, rush the set, paws on the counter, bark, bark, bark. EVERY TIME! I am afraid to get a flat screen TV, fearing that it will go flying. Fri, 29 Apr 2011 10:39:05 EST Pug rescue and adoption events in your area My personal mission in life is to rescue older and special needs dogs, usually pugs, but dogs happen. I would like to use this sticky topic to post rescue events that you have heard of, may be involved with etc. Some of us live close enough to each other to maybe attend. You can also donate to or purchase stuff from your favorite groups. I want to hear about your rescue and adoption stories. Fri, 29 Apr 2011 10:31:29 EST Belly bands Yay or Nay? We are having an interesting discussion on one of my other dog teams about peeing indoors and solutions. I have two males who are champion pee'rs indoors and we have been using belly bands. I don't like them, they need to be changed all the time, taken off every time we take them out, but we didn't know what else to do. Now someone who seems very knowledgeable says that belly bands actually make things worse. Has anyone used them? What do you do with your little pee'r Tue, 26 Apr 2011 14:36:03 EST New co-leader for the team Hi all, I know many of you already because I am totally gaga over pugs and drawn to pug people. Fri, 22 Apr 2011 20:49:30 EST Pug Talk Just wondered if anyone else in the group subscribed to "Pug Talk". If you have not heard of it, it is a bi-monthly magazine dedicated to all things pug. We've had a subscription for years but I only just realized they added a page on Facebook also. Fri, 22 Apr 2011 20:36:04 EST Housebreaking Rescue We have recently adopted Sierra as a rescue. She came from a puppy mill in the states and her health is pretty good. Very petite and will eventually go blind but doing well otherwise. Any suggestions on housebreaking? She has spent a lot of her first year of life in a cage and doesn't have a clue. The fact that we have a ton of snow outside is not helping. Right now I am not worrying about it to much but would like to do the right thing for her. Since she is my first rescue would reall... Sun, 20 Mar 2011 22:12:46 EST Kia Kaitlyn We just rescued a pug that was going to be put down because the breeder couldn't sell her for "full retail" because at 1 week, she had ulcers on her eyes and now her eyesight isn't that good. I had to pay $50, but I thought that was cheap compared to putting her down. Her and Coco are getting along pretty well. Coco gets a little jealous when I take her outside. She's only 4 mos. and I think he doesn't understand that she's not exatcly housebroken yet and needs to go out more often. The cats ... Sat, 5 Mar 2011 17:08:13 EST New on here! Wed, 2 Mar 2011 19:13:51 EST Another Week.... afternoon Puglovers,
Lynn and her two pugs Mimi and Maxi are here today. The girls didn't like the rain in Ohio today. I have to force them to go out. When we had the bad snow they would go out and stay on the patio under the roof; Now I have to clean up their mess now that snow is gone. LOL!
Hope you all having a great day. I am Lynn in ohio. I have 2 pugs. Mimi and Maxi. just like my kids. They sleep with me at night and go everywhere with me. I bring them to work with me every day and they stay in a big cage and sleep most the day but I let them out to play. they love to greet people that come into the office.
I am looking forward to knowing you all here and your pugs and this looks like a great place to have fun with.
See you all around. Hugs,Lynn Thu, 10 Feb 2011 15:24:26 EST Fallen Pug My little girl pug, Mia, took a fall today. DH said she was playing and fell on her back. She squirted a little poo when she fell. He thought maybe she needs her fecal sacs emptied. We have another dog who has to have this occasionally. After her fall, she was acting a little hurt for awhile but seems to be better. But when she was laying on my lap sleeping, she kept passing gas. So, I wonder if maybe it is a bad after effect of the fall. I don't know. I guess I will just keep an eye... Fri, 4 Feb 2011 21:32:47 EST Lyme Disease My darling little guy was diagnosed with Lyme Disease yesterday. We live in the northwest burbs of Chicago and did not think there was a Lyme disease problem here, though we do have a huge deer population. He is doing better on pain meds and antibiotics. Has anyone had any experience with this? 40 Tue, 25 Jan 2011 15:40:27 EST Birthday for an older pug tomorrow :) I am looking forward to celebrating my pugs 13th birthday tomorrow. Honestly, though, it is so bittersweet, cuz 2 yrs ago, I nearly lost her to a collapsed trachea. I am so grateful she is still with me, but I just worry everyday of when she will have the final attack. She is doing pretty ok lately, I love her to pieces, can't wait for her to have a piece of her birthday "cake" and get her presents, but with this older pug, I just keep fearing the end, ya know?
Sun, 23 Jan 2011 00:24:29 EST What learned from my Pugs As we all know, pugs like to eat and don't always like to exercise. Just like me. As a result, pugs have a tendency to be overweight. Just like me. What my husband and I have done for the last 2 years is weigh their meals. We know exactly how much they eat and we have adjusted how much we feed them based on their weights. Our oldest boy is 10. He is a big boy and weighed 30 lbs when we adopted him. He is now down to 24 svelte pounds and healthy and active. My husband walks all three of ... Sun, 16 Jan 2011 11:03:44 EST Just saying hello I am new to SparkPeople and so far I like it. Great to have pug people to commune with. I have 3 darlings. They graciously let us live in their house and sleep in their bed. Mon, 10 Jan 2011 14:30:27 EST Pug dental... Hi there. We took our pug Gus for dental in 2006....we adopted him at 3 1/2 yrs old in 2005. The dental procedure "seemed" to go OK, but after he was brought home...we had a horrible experience. When he tried to sleep (he sleeps with us)...he kept wheezing....and could not breathe well. I called pet emergency and they said oftentimes when dental is done and the stick the tube down the puggie's throat, it irritates they told me to keep an eye on him. Well hours later, little Gus stil... Fri, 15 Oct 2010 14:08:30 EST Walkies! Tonight we had a great walk. They did over a mile in about 30 minutes. That's like a record for them! Brutus LOVES to stop, sniff and pee on everything he can. I swear he is hollow. Buddy I could still probably run with and he'd be happy. How is it walking your pugs? Tue, 12 Oct 2010 22:12:45 EST Pug Meetup this weekend!! I get to take the boys to the PRONE pug meetup this weekend. Anyone else going? Fri, 8 Oct 2010 13:40:58 EST Sorry guys!! I have been absent dealing with some health issues, but I'm still around. :) How is everyone doing?

To make this pug-related, Brutus and Buddy are on diets. Mini has started actively feeding them his food, so they are definitely getting lots of table food. :) They also steal his snacks. Silly pugs! Brutus will actually stick his tongue in the snack bowl with the flappy lid to fish out Mini's snacks. :) Mon, 13 Sep 2010 21:42:01 EST Love my sweet pug! It was sudden, with no warning, and with no conclusive explanation on why she suffered the way she did. I seem to be dealing better than my husband (he still stayed home today, while I went to work), and I can honestly say this is one of the hardest things I have ever had to deal with in my life. Any words of encouragement from others who have had experience with pet loss would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. Wed, 7 Jul 2010 12:45:54 EST Stinky Fur: UPDATE Shaved Ya-Ya down with a #2 shield on the shaver and boy is she happy! So much cooler and as a bonus, she doesn't smell as bad! Yay! Tue, 6 Jul 2010 10:12:14 EST Stinky fur? My pug has a really strong smell to her fur. I keep her clean and wiper her face down regularly but she just smells. I am considering shaving her down a little bit since her coat seems pretty thick. Any thoughts on this? Thu, 1 Jul 2010 15:08:19 EST New to team Hi I have been on Spark since January but I am new to the team. I am the loving Mom to Tank (2 year old fawn male) and Panzer (1year old black male). Fell in love with the breed after Tank joined our family and a year later along came Panzer. They are the sweetest little guys. Tank is quite hyper but Panz is a mellow little guy. Wed, 25 Jun 2008 19:41:16 EST Pet Insurance for Pugs Hello. We recently got a 2 year old pug from a rescue group. He appears to be in good health, but we'd like to get pet insurance for him just in case. I know pugs are predisposed for things like rotating knee caps and hip displaysia that often show up around 2-3. I am wondering if anyone has pet insurance and can recommend a company that has the best coverage for the pug predispositions. I did a Google search and it came up with a LOT of results - was a little overwhelming. Thanks. Sun, 22 Jun 2008 19:06:14 EST Oh so in love with pugs! So I may be one of those creepy "weird guy watching a kids soccer game even though he doesn't have any kids" when it comes to this group.

Except I'm not a creepy guy. However while I do love pugs possibly more than any animal on this good green earth, my allergies prevent me from having one of my own.

So I just admire all you wonderful people and your wonderful pugs from afar! Sat, 26 May 2007 00:32:18 EST Discovery Since I've been drinking so much water lately, I can't hardly drink soda anymore. The carbonation is just hard to swallow. I also think I am allergic to something in colas. My thyroid glands swell occasionally and I've had lots of tests. They showed nothing. I told the doctor I thought I was allergic to cola. He just laughed. Now I am more sure of it. I haven't had any problems lately unless I drink my used to be favorite diet Pepsi. How weird is that? 194 Fri, 25 May 2007 08:27:07 EST WEEKEND PLANS? I DON'T HAVE MUCH PLANNED FOR THIS NICE, LONG WEEKEND AHEAD.
