There are two basic times in life when God’s people need revival. The first is in times of wickedness, and the second is in times of weakness. During both those times, we need for the Lord to miraculously open His word and give us the resources we need to have our strength restored. If we could ever drink deeply of the word of God, we would seek God’s deliverance from our times of wickedness and from our times of weakness. We would see him revive o... Fri, 25 Jan 2013 08:34:43 EST DID YOU KNOW? Samson is a man whose life should be studied, but not duplicated. Yet, the lessons we learn from the life of Samson teach us that the greatest enemy we have is ourselves. If we can learn to conquer self, we can walk in this life in spiritual victory and power. Thu, 24 Jan 2013 07:11:05 EST DID YOU KNOW? Often churches and church people use ungodly means to achieve their goals. God, in His sovereignty, is able to bless in spite of our failure to walk in His will. I am glad that my sin will not derail God’s plans! I am glad that the wicked tactics of my enemies will not derail God’s plan. God will do what He is going to do either with, or without, our cooperation. Our foolishness will not even slow Him down! Far too many in the church have adopted the motto, “You have to go along to get along”. They are afraid to take a stand for the truth because they don’t want to hurt anyone’s feelings. They are afraid to say anything, do anything, or take any position that might “rock the boat.” Let someone dare to “rock the boat”, and that person will often find themselves standing alone, while the very people who ought to stand with them make deals with the enemy to protect their own hides. That’s right; we find pleasure and satisfaction in getting even. It’s part of our human nature. It is hard wired into us and we have a hard time walking away and simply letting things go. A lot of the churches that have resorted to worldly methods and gimmicks to draw their crowds will see a falling away when they run out of gimmicks to keep them there. That is why we need to examine our motives. Why do we serve the Lord? Why do we come to church? Why do we do the things we do? If we are motivated by... Sat, 19 Jan 2013 07:59:49 EST DID YOU KNOW? Remember that God warns His people against forming close relationships with unsaved people. He forbids marriages like the one Samson was about to enter. That prohibition extends beyond marriage to all the associations we enter into in life. The wrong kind of relationships can have a devastating effect on y... Fri, 18 Jan 2013 07:59:39 EST New Glad to found another Christian group. I am looking forward to being a part of this community. Thu, 17 Jan 2013 21:06:49 EST DID YOU KNOW? Our reactions to the negative actions of the people around us are a window into our heart. When we are like Jesus, we will react like Jesus. When there are problems in our heart, we will react according to our fallen nature. We will be bitter, unforgiving, vengeful, hateful and mean-spirited. Our reactions are indeed a window into our souls. Did You Know? Vic. Thu, 17 Jan 2013 09:22:02 EST DID YOU KNOW? A person has real spiritual problems when they cease to be affected by their sins. We all sin, but when we sin as “believers”, there is chastisement and conviction. There is the sense that we have dishonored the Lord and damaged our fellowship with Him. When we sin, we look for a place of repentance. When that sense of sin is missing, it is an indication that the heart has grown hard toward the Lord. It is an indication that the conscience has been seared. It is an indication that sin has pl... Wed, 16 Jan 2013 06:50:15 EST DID YOU KNOW? In Old Testament time, a period of time of marriage would begin called the betrothal period. This usually lasted about 1 year. During that time, the bridegroom would prepare a place for the couple to live. The bride would take this time to prepare her wedding wardrobe and to get ready for the arrival of the groom. At an unannounced hour, usually at night, the bridegroom would come for his bride. He would arrange for a feast to be ready. He would take his friends and go after his bride. He... Tue, 15 Jan 2013 06:54:24 EST DID YOU KNOW? When we willfully disregard God’s will for our lives, we always pull others down with us. You see it in families all the time. One member will get out of God’s will and they will pull the rest of the family away from God with them. It is sad, but true, most of us never stop to think about the impact our decisions have on the lives of others. That is part of the deceptiveness of sin. It blinds our eyes to the true consequences of our actions. All we see is the pleasure, we can never see the p... Mon, 14 Jan 2013 07:55:52 EST DID YOU KNOW? The disobedient heart always shows itself through disobedient actions. It does as it pleases without regard for God or for the consequences. Fri, 11 Jan 2013 09:07:13 EST Did You Know? It would do us well to remember that our problems in the spiritual realm begin in the same place that Samson’s problems began. They begin within our own hearts as we seek to fulfill our own selfish, sinful desires. The problem of sin is an internal problem. It doesn’t begin with someone else. It doesn’t even begin with the devil. Our sin problem begins with us. This should be a warning sign to us. When we begin to long for things that God forbids, it is a sign that we are headed for trouble.... Fri, 11 Jan 2013 07:36:38 EST Did You Know? Parents, you are doing your children no favors when you bow to their every whim. They need to know that there are boundaries in life. They need to know that there are limits in life. Thu, 10 Jan 2013 07:40:17 EST Did You Know? Barrenness was often seen as the judgment of God against a home. In that culture, every young woman wanted the same thing. They all wanted to be a mother who would bear many sons for their husbands. And, they all wanted to be the woman through whom God would send the Messiah. To be barren crushed both those dreams. To be barren in that culture meant that a woman was always exposed to the danger of being divorced by a husband who wanted sons. It meant that when her husband died, she would b... Wed, 9 Jan 2013 07:30:57 EST Did You Know? Who is this “Angel of the Lord”? We have every reason to believe that this is a pre-Bethlehem, pre-incarnate appearance of the Lord Jesus Christ. So, this is a “Christophany”. Jesus Christ steps out of eternity and into time to bring good news. This is not the only time Jesus showed up in the Old Testament. A few more of His “Christophanies” are: He appeared to Hagar, (Gen. 16:7-14, Gen. 21:16-20). He appeared to Abraham, (Gen.18:10; Gen.18:17, Gen. 22:11). He appeared to Jacob, (Gen... Your plan will not change His plan. Regardless of what you offer Him it will not change His mind about what He plans to do. Our God is sovereign and He will not be coerced into anything that is not part of His perfect plan! We are to walk by faith and trust the Lord to do with us as He pleases. Don’t bargain, simply obey! Did You Know? Vic. Mon, 7 Jan 2013 07:55:11 EST Did You Know? When there is victory over some sin, over some enemy, over some difficult period of life, we should always be quick to praise the Lord and thank Him for the victory. If victory came our way, it came to us through Him, and He deserves all the glory for it! We should never take any credit for any of the victories in our lives. Did You Know? Vic. Sun, 6 Jan 2013 07:31:31 EST Did You Know? “If you will do this for me, Lord, then I will do something for you.” Have you ever done that? Have you ever tried to bargain with the Lord? I think we all have at times, but I think we all fail to recognize the serious nature of the vows we make to the Lord. God expects you to fulfill every vow you make to Him! Did You Know? Vic. Sat, 5 Jan 2013 07:51:53 EST Did You Know? A man who makes a rash vow may live to regret it. Jephthah teaches us that we need to take heed to every word that comes out of our mouths, and nowhere is that more important than when it comes to the words we speak to the Lord. Oh, be careful little mouth, what you say, For the Father up above, Is looking down in love, So be careful little mouth what you say. Did You Know? Vic. Fri, 4 Jan 2013 07:06:31 EST Did You Know? Whether we will accept it or not, how we treat others is a direct reflection of the place God holds in our hearts. If we can spitefully mistreat and attack those who are made in God’s image and bought by the blood of His Son, it does not say much for our opinion of Him. When we love Him as we should, we will love others as we should. Did You Know? Vic. Thu, 3 Jan 2013 07:25:08 EST Did You Know? What a shame! This is how many people treat the Lord. They refuse to be faithful. They refuse to serve Him. They refuse to honor His word, His will or His house. They treat Him like He is an unwanted intruder in their lives. They treat Him like He is the spare tire on the car of their life. He is to stay in the trunk and keep quiet, but He better be ready when they have a flat and pull him out! Did You Know? Vic. Wed, 2 Jan 2013 07:57:57 EST Did You Know? Most of us do not trumpet our abilities, yet we go to great lengths to conceal our problems. This just reminds us that we are human, and as long as we live in this world, we are going to remain less than perfect. No matter how far up the ladder of holiness we climb, we will still be sinners, and we need a Savior still desperately. Did You Know? Vic. Tue, 1 Jan 2013 07:45:09 EST Did You Know? The spiritual climate in Israel during those days is summed up by the last verse in the book. Judges 21:25 says, “In those days there was no king in Israel: every man did that which was right in his own eyes.” And, what is so discouraging about this book is that there is ample evidence that we humans do not learn our lessons well. Left to ourselves, we can do little but get ourselves in trouble time and again. Did You Know? God Help Us! Vic. Mon, 31 Dec 2012 07:33:26 EST Did You Know? Why would any of us be discouraged like the disciples, when they saw Jesus walking on water? They were afraid. How about us? Why is it that after we got the job, after we are in remission, after we find the lost document or the right house, after we have seen Jesus perform a sign ....we turn to the next crisis, the next storm in life, and we don't hear, "It is I, don't be afraid". This speaks of the Coccus worm found in oak trees. These worms were used to produce the red dye that used in the articles made for the tabernacle. It comes from the Hebrew root “tala”, which means “to be clothed in scarlet”. Tola is the son of “Puah”. His name means “light”. Thus, Tola was “the son of light”. Did You Know? Vic. Sat, 29 Dec 2012 08:25:21 EST Did You Know? God’s people are “the salt of the earth”. Salt, as you know, purifies, adds flavor to bland foods, and helps preserve meat. In Bible times, salt was more valuable than money. The ancient Romans used to give a soldier his pay in salt rather than money. The word “salary” comes to us from the Roman word “salarium”, which speaks of a soldier being paid in salt. The phrase “not worth his salt” comes from this practice. Did You Know? Vic. Fri, 28 Dec 2012 07:24:55 EST Did You Know? It’s not always easy to walk in the old paths when everyone around us is looking for something new, but it is right! It isn’t always easy to live for the Lord when others around you are living for the world, the flesh and the devil, but it is right! When there is a lack of the manifest presence and power of God in the church, it can usually be traced to some sin in the body! There is an infection and it needs to be identified and treated before there will ever be a return of God’s power and glory! Did You Know? I’ll be back with YOU on Oct 22nd! Vic. When you do it God's way, there will always be victory! It isn't about new means and methods! We don't need a new Bible or a new kind of service. We do not need to have this fellow in to preach a revival. Then, when the preacher is gone, after a few days, we are the same way we were before! No! We do not need all these things! All we need to do is patiently do it God's way. You see, obtaining the victory is His concern, obedience to Him is ours! Did You Know? Vic. Thu, 11 Oct 2012 07:34:25 EST Did You Know? God’s plan for His children may sound a bit strange. All He asks us to do is walk in faith! The secret to living the successful Christian life is this: you can’t do it! It is not about what you can do, but it is all about what He can do. It is not about trying and failing. It is all about learning to abide in Jesus, and in drawing one’s strength from Him. How Are You Walking? Vic. Sun, 7 Oct 2012 07:44:12 EST Who Is In Control? God is looking for people who will quit trying to fight their own battles and win their own victories. We like to call the shots. We like to be the boss, and it shows! It shows in defeat; in lack of peace and joy; in our being less than we could be for the Lord. Who Is In Control? Vic. Sat, 7 Jul 2012 08:09:16 EST What About You? Not everyone in the Israel camp was guilty of this sad show of the flesh (rejecting God‘s gift). There were some people in the camp who quietly gathered the Manna, thanked God for His provisions and lived. Thank God, there are still some even in this godless day who have partaken of the Bread of Heaven and are saved and satisfied in Jesus! What about you? <BR> Fri, 6 Jul 2012 08:40:39 EST How Is Your Spiritual Health? Every situation in life serves as ministry of the Lord to us. He uses all the times of life to shape us in His image.
