I'm trying to exercise every day, I've only missed one day this month (I had a dreadful headache for 35 hours).

I've been riding my bike to work most days, jogging 3 times a week and going to yoga at least once a week. It's April 1 and time for a new challenge. We're all pretty different so let's make our own goals and check in her for support, encouragement or commisseration!

I went running today. I just finished week one of Couch to 5K. It was raining lightly but I went anyway because I really felt like working up a sweat. I have a new hot pink dri-fit shirt with long sleeves and I love wearing it! Hopefully soon I won't have quite so much belly fat bulging out of it. You can estimate distance travelled if you swimg or bike and add that into it.

Or a food challenge? Like eating more fresh stuff or giving up a problem food for a week? I have been subbing sugar-free pudding and jello for now, but I want to try to eliminate dessert all together in the future.

How about you guys? Successes, struggles? 38 Wed, 17 Jan 2007 12:22:50 EST Nutritionist? http://www.sparkpeople.com/myspark/team_messageboard_thread.asp?board=0x7064x4424349 Has anyone ever seen a nutritionist?

I think it would be a good move for me, since I am a vegetarian and I really want to make sure I'm getting enough vitamins and minerals and I am really clueless about that kind of stuff.

My gym has a nutritionist on staff but I would have to pay extra and I think its pretty spendy, plus I'm already maxed out on my gym budget with paying for my trainer.

But! I just found out that the University has a liscensed nutritionist ... Tue, 16 Jan 2007 13:25:45 EST Keeping track of the metrics http://www.sparkpeople.com/myspark/team_messageboard_thread.asp?board=0x7064x4415617 So I have this idea to weigh myself, take my measurements, and body fat percentage. But I find that a) I don't have a scale, b) I'm too lazy and c) I'm too scared to hear what my body fat is.

I should do this soon so I can actually track the changes. Sparkpeople needs a place where you can put in other things besides weight! Like body fat % and measurements. Once I start doing weights, I will gain weight before I lose it, because I put on muscle so quickly. And I don't want to b... Tue, 16 Jan 2007 00:26:20 EST What are you eating this week? http://www.sparkpeople.com/myspark/team_messageboard_thread.asp?board=0x7064x4389002 I'm sitting down today to plan out a couple of meals. I try to do at least a couple each week - though I don't always stick to them.

I have some Italian sausage I need to use up so I think I'm just going to make sausage with peppers and onions with those.

And I'm going to make some "real simple" black bean soup - which is basically 1 can drained black beans, 1 can refried black beans and 1 can chicken broth mixed with some pico de gallo. Easy, healthy.

A... Sun, 14 Jan 2007 14:17:11 EST Name your nemesis - pitfall foods? http://www.sparkpeople.com/myspark/team_messageboard_thread.asp?board=0x7064x4385219 You all probably know mine: beer! Man, I LOVE beer. If I were God I would ordain beer to be a food group all on its own. Beer only comes in 500ml cans/bottles here. Two beers equals about 400 calories: between a third and a quarter of my daily calorie allowance! And it's a bloater, too! And it gives me gas, but you probably didn't want to know that.

I am not going to kid myself and pretend that I will stop drinking beer. But I treat it like candy: I can have one when I've been stic... Sun, 14 Jan 2007 09:28:45 EST This is not working. http://www.sparkpeople.com/myspark/team_messageboard_thread.asp?board=0x7064x4383622 Ok so day 1 (Friday) went ok, but by 9 pm I was *starving* so I had a small small handful of walnuts. because they have omega 3s and they're good for you and all that. Well they also have 200 calories - putting me over for the day. Today I tried so freaking hard, but again, hungry too early, small snack of chik'n nuggets - again over.

I am drinking a lot of water! I am eating a lot of fiber! (I'm tracking it, and I'm above the RDA both days) I feel like I'll have to go serio... Sun, 14 Jan 2007 03:23:25 EST Exercise! http://www.sparkpeople.com/myspark/team_messageboard_thread.asp?board=0x7064x4365358 I try to keep up with the days I'm supposed to exercise here, but...somedays it doesn't work out. (har har)
And I keep telling myself that I'm trying to ease into this slowly and I don't want to tackle too much at one time anyway or else I might become overwhelmed and quit.

Anyway, the other night I did some squats (as prescribed!) and every time I've done them I've sworn I'll NEVER do them again. My legs ache for days. Today I'm at the "can't lower myself onto the toile... I'm still mucking around on this board, but I'll figure it out. Fri, 12 Jan 2007 14:19:48 EST Re-Introdu uction/What are we all doing here? http://www.sparkpeople.com/myspark/team_messageboard_thread.asp?board=0x7064x4348356 i wanted to reply to chubbyknees's and vikarious's sort of "weight loss introductions" in the food thread without taking that thread on a further tangent. it seems like we need a little re-introduction to one another in this new venue... like who we are as weight loss people as opposed to glitter people. so here's my deal:

this whole weight loss thing really freaks me out. the only times i've ever lost weight in the past i've been 1) engaging in horribly disordered eating habits... Thu, 11 Jan 2007 19:04:31 EST Food! http://www.sparkpeople.com/myspark/team_messageboard_thread.asp?board=0x7064x4339060 What are you eating lately? Favorite recipes? Low-cal snacks? Post it here.

This weekend I made 5 days' worth of egg white omelettes with veggies for breakfasts, let them cool, and I can take one with me each morning to work. I really like fixing my breakfasts in bulk, in advance, so that I don't have to think about it every day. Any ideas for what I can eat next week? I'm pretty sick of omelettes!

Did you know you can make your own microwave popcorn? In a brown paper lu... Thu, 11 Jan 2007 10:47:24 EST The YAY ME thread http://www.sparkpeople.com/myspark/team_messageboard_thread.asp?board=0x7064x4338652 This is the thread in which you can post your accomplishments. At least for me, this is a very one-day-at-a-time endeavor, and I think it's important to acknowledge every goal reached.

So YAY ME! Yesterday I kept my calories in my goal range, did all the strength training exercises on my list, and did half an hour of cardio. I'm way proud of myself! Thu, 11 Jan 2007 10:30:45 EST
