I've been told by my doctor that the less extra weight I'm carrying the less stress there will be on my joints. I don't expect to lose it fast. It took me 8 years to put on all the weight. My goal is to drop 2 lbs every month and keep it off til I reach my 92 lb goal.
I am married to Bob and he's just had... Thu, 20 Feb 2014 17:49:00 EST Intentions for the New Year This is because resolutions are made to be broken.

I will start. Just as with the mind-body disciplines ... at the top of every practice, we set an intention ... this is not a goal, but a dedication. A thematic or fervent prayer or entreaty encompassing sometimes more than yourself.

Although concentrating on yourself is good, too ....

So, in practicing (and in living) you grapple with your intention. I started this journey in a 12 step program back in 1997 but found myself relapsing over and over trying to achieve black or white "abstinence". Went to a residential inpt treatment facility in 2011 where I was introduced to intuitive eating.... Wow! Have struggled since due to losing an ex friend and living with another compulsive over eater (partner). My struggle now is one of keeping focus on my choices and actions.... Tue, 7 May 2013 01:34:50 EST Fat and Type 2 Diabetes-a HAES Approach (my story) Correlation is not Causation!

I was diagnosed as a Type 2 diabetic 5 weeks ago.
The culprit is, most likely my having been on statin drugs to treat hereditary high blood cholesterol for the past 17 years.

That being said, I was fewer than ten pounds overweight (BMI was maybe about 26 or so) when I'd been diagnosed. And the being overweight stemmed from what I thought was a metabolic meltdown caused by my going through a "secret, second part of postmenopause". I'd... Sat, 23 Feb 2013 13:43:14 EST New Here Is this still an active group? I'm interested in being a part of it, but I've joined inactive groups before and I was just curious.
I had, in the past, thought that HAES was permission to be fat, but it just dawned on me that: 1. so what if it is? 2. It is merely suggesting that we all be healthy and active regardless of our size. How can that be bad? Sat, 5 Jan 2013 09:19:10 EST IS anyone still here? I am looking for an active HAES group. Are you still active? Wed, 26 Dec 2012 21:26:03 EST Hoping to regain my intuitive eater..... Hi, I am new. I have been on this endless rollercoaster of on again, off again diets. I found IE back in 2010 and fully embraced it, got pregnant, continued to embrace it, had my baby and... crash, boom, bang! End! I started back up with the scale and there came the obsessions that lie with it.

I just read *ahem* devoured the Health at Every Size book and am currently re-reading the Intuitive Eating book. Looking forward to chatting with you all! Padding is just one solution. (It's camera trickery on about the same level as putting a board down on the beach and sprinkling sand over it so the model's stiletto heels don't sink.) Some plus-size models also use food tricks to temporarily meet certain clients' requirements — like eating salt to retain water weight just long enough to get measured, get confirmed, and do the... Wed, 2 Apr 2008 12:27:44 EST Here's to the future! Hi! I'm Olive and I look forward to becoming a healthy, comfortable weight again. Mon, 24 Mar 2008 21:13:37 EST Counting Weight training as Circuit training??? I've recently begun to use resistance machines at the university that I attend. SP doesn't count cardio for Weight training and we have discussed that before, but I was wondering if you all felt counting it as circuit training would be OK? I did 10 machines today and estimated about 5 minutes per machine, so I counted it as 50 min of circuit training which said I burned 330 calories. Do you all think this would be accurate or way off? I did log the exercises in the Strength training sect... Mon, 24 Mar 2008 21:00:11 EST Alright now, this is what I'm talking about!! Hi team,

My name is Anita hailing from Florida, and this team is what I was looking for.

I was never a skinny woman, or girl always
"overweight". I just a few years ago learned to accept me for me beautifully large and lovely. And the Good Lord blessed me with a wonderful husband who loved and married me at my highest weight and he does'nt want me to get "too small". However, I must lose enough weight for health and comfort. (my back knees and feet will thank me... Mon, 24 Mar 2008 11:53:48 EST Calorie-cutting So, apropos to my last discussion thread, I finally got up the courage to weigh myself. I went to the gym, ran, and got on the scale. So that's the good news.

The other news is that there was no change in my weight at all. At the same time, however, I measured myself two nights ago, and I'm an inch smaller around my waist and bust, and half an inch smaller in my hips.

I'm a little unsure what to change -- or if change is even necessary. Originally, I looked at 1200-1550... Thu, 20 Mar 2008 11:50:23 EST Question of the Day 3/19 What is the weirdest thing you will ever admit to having done in the past? Wed, 19 Mar 2008 13:48:23 EST hips fitting into pants I ordered a target outfit. Sadly though, it is listed as a 39" hip on the size chart, but measures in at 36".

Then I tried this with my current clothes. They measure at 45", but my hips are actually 49"-- BUT, they fit proper!

So... are all clothes about 3-4 inches less than your actual hips??? Is this just normal???

Tue, 18 Mar 2008 17:57:33 EST Old Navy sizing? Does anyone have pants from Old Navy? Is their size chart accurate?

For example, their size chart says a size 12 equals 41.5" hips. Is this so?

I ask b/c I remember wearing size 12 pants from ON and feeling very happy and confident. Sadly, I no longer have those clothes to do a direct measure. However, I know size charts are sometimes inconsistent with the actual measures.

Just wondering if ON lists their sizes accurately?

Mon, 17 Mar 2008 22:43:36 EST Hello everyone I've been skinny and now I'm fat (obese according to the charts). I've come to realize I don't want to be either. I want to be healthy. I love my curves and hopefully as I get down to a healthy weight my curves won't go anywhere...LOL...glad to be apart of this team. Mon, 17 Mar 2008 18:45:42 EST Question of the Day 3/17 Happy Saint Patrick's Day!!!!!

What do you do to celebrate this holiday? Mon, 17 Mar 2008 12:55:33 EST Afraid to Weigh Myself This might sound incredibly immature, but I'm really afraid to weigh myself. Friday and Saturday were really unhealthy days for me. (Mexican food, happy hour, pizza, Easter candy, oh my!)

I keep trying to tell myself that I just need to get back to it -- and on Sunday I did, mostly, making some whole wheat spaghetti instead of repeating the pizza incident and I had a healthy, vegetable-ridden dinner. But something in my head keeps yelling about how I'm a horrible person and oh, by ... Mon, 17 Mar 2008 11:35:49 EST Question of the Day 3/13 In what ways does your faith affect your life? Wed, 12 Mar 2008 19:24:01 EST Introducing myself Hi, all!

I'm new to SparkPeople (as of Monday), and new to this team (as of today). This topic, as someone else said, really spoke to me.

I want to be healthy... I think this might involve a little bit of weight loss, since I developed some outrageous eating habits during my college years and various battles with depression (and for this reason I need to track my calories just to recalibrate myself). But mostly, I just want to refine my curves and make my body strong and... Wed, 12 Mar 2008 17:20:02 EST Overall progress. Hi! I'm new to this team. It looked perfect for me since I am struggling with setting a definitive end goal.

I used to be a size 12. I did squeeze to a size 10 but could never maintain it (even with exercise & good eating).

I think I should shoot for size 12 again (5'7", hourglass figure). I am not model-thin there, but I wasn't ashamed b/c of being overweight either. I hope I can be happy there again (and not keep pushing my goal for model-thinness).

What ...
