I have arthritis in both feet and it is really cramping my whole style -- being fat isn't helping this health problem at all. I am motivated to try this, I've done weight watchers before and reached goal weight in a year -- but at that time I had 30 pounds to lose, and I was 15 years younger. Seems harder and harder to lose for me.
I can use some support, and any tips on how to make... I've been eating only real foods for a while, have been wheat-free also for quite a while. Not eating dairy is new to me, as is trying to give up caffeine. Sugar and artificial sweeteners have never been a big deal to me, so those were pretty easy to drop. I'm looking forward to having some dressing on my salad tomorrow, that's for sure!

Because I've been grain-free/low carb for so long, I suspect I won't see much of a result ... Monday and Tuesday would be better. But then I love Phase 3 for the weekends. So I'm thinking maybe I could do Ph2 (M&T); Ph1 (W&Th); and then Phase 3 (Fri-Sun). Saw it on the list, but just skipped right over it. Now I am looking at this article - Go green for your health, or something like that. And I see Nopales, also known as Prickly Pear. But it looks like a cactus! I am like wait a minute, I just saw that name recently. And lo and behold, here it is on Phase 3.

Has anyone ever tried it before? It's listed under fruit.
Thu, 25 Apr 2013 17:50:42 EST Caffeine: You Don't Need It. http://www.sparkpeople.com/myspark/team_messageboard_thread.asp?board=0x59958x53105566 This was in an email:

Caffeine: You Don't Need It.
"I really want to try the Fast Metabolism Diet, but I just HAVE to have my morning coffee."

We've been hearing this a lot as people gear up to start the Fast Metabolism Diet (now a #1 New York Times Bestseller, thank you very much!). Yes, caffeine is a no-no on the 28-day plan, but there's a good reason for it. Caffeine stresses out your adrenal glands -- and we're going to need to get your adrenals back in l... Probably from doing low carb for a long period of time this phase will feel like old hat to me. I know it's not atkins like, it's more southbeachy if I had to label it.

I think I may find the snacks difficult. I bought nitrate turkey meat for this phase because I wasn't keen on any of the snacks in the book. Mon, 22 Apr 2013 10:03:13 EST Breakfast http://www.sparkpeople.com/myspark/team_messageboard_thread.asp?board=0x59958x53064014 This is probably the most difficult for me. The timing of breakfast.

Partly because of DH's work schedule. Sometimes he gets up at 3 or 4. I try to get up with him. Do I eat? Well yes if I stay up, but maybe I want to lay back down?

Or I can't sleep and so I get up. But I don't know if I will stay up, or if I will try to lay back down. So do I eat, or do I wait?

This morning I was hungry. I got up at 2 and it was 5 before I knew it, so I was going to... Wow, I slept great!!!

So meals started off later, which would have been okay, had we stayed home. But shortly after we ate, we decided to try to meet up with the Riding Group. I took my snacks, but we caught up to the group, and rode on to the destination, which was a lunch stop.

So all I had were about half a dozen chicken wings. Not the whole wing, but 6 separate pieces. Then I ate my snack after that... We ate out, but I had a grilled chicken salad w/o the parm and w/o the croutons, and oil & balsamic.

Then the rest of the day, snacks and meal times were just messed up. I drank water, but I am sure not enough. I did not wan... Mon, 22 Apr 2013 09:10:32 EST Coffee http://www.sparkpeople.com/myspark/team_messageboard_thread.asp?board=0x59958x53062888 I started this AM. I had coffee though, like the book said I just made sure it was one cup and only once I had breakfast in my belly and black.
It's one of those non negotiable(s) for me atm. I'm just too afraid of the withdrawals and having to function with a 2 yr old & a headache that won't quit. *shudder* However, I had agreed to give it up if I don't lose anything.
Mon, 22 Apr 2013 08:40:49 EST Phase 3 - Day 5 http://www.sparkpeople.com/myspark/team_messageboard_thread.asp?board=25923x59958x53040092 OMG phase 3 is fantastic!! 104

Lots of good healthy fats. Yumm-o! Lots of variety from all macros for 3 days.

The plan says don't count calories, but I have been counting calories for over a year, so it is hard not to. Plus I was just curious as to how it would all play out.

She says calories dont really matter, it is the combination of foods eaten at certain times, which I am starting to see the effect. These are the same foods I use to eat,... Sat, 20 Apr 2013 09:42:17 EST Phase 2 - Day 4 http://www.sparkpeople.com/myspark/team_messageboard_thread.asp?board=25922x59958x53027938 I didnt get to weigh today. Dead batteries on the Wii remote.

Day 4 was pretty much the same as the day before.

I love protein, love meat. I would rather have steak with whole eggs though..... having just egg whites is different for me. Of course there are other protein sources if you don't' want egg whites. Lots of choices.

I have done high protein days before, but usually goes along with it's fair share of fat, so that has been different, trying to cu... I usually have chicken breast cooked and frozen, so I could have mixed it up a little, but I didnt see any for some reason. I also could have had steak or something, I just stuck with the turkey. It was alr... Thu, 18 Apr 2013 06:37:42 EST Phase 1 - Day 2 http://www.sparkpeople.com/myspark/team_messageboard_thread.asp?board=25921x59958x53001064 Yesterday went great. Always encouraging after seeing the scale budge downward a little, even though I am certain it is just water, it's still going in the right direction.

Food yesterday - I pretty much ate the same as the day before, just a little less. I was so stuffed on Monday, I just couldnt eat it all yesterday. The plan doesnt count calories, but it counts servings (ounces & cups &/or pcs. of fruit) and if you want to lose more than 20lbs, you add half a serving. For ea... I usually have a couple cups of coffee in the morning (2-4) and several cups of green tea throughout the day (3-4)

I ate alot of food it seems. I could not eat all that I was suppose to, based on the amount that I want to lose. The book says not to track, but being a sparker, I tracked :) I had more calories and carbs than I care to have, but went with it.

Result? Down .9 this morning! 104

Now, I...
