In the fast diet book, the author recommended a 2:00pm to 2:00pm or a 6:00pm to 6:00pm time frames.

Today is my first fast day and I opted for the 6:00pm to 6:00pm time frame. Mon, 10 Aug 2015 13:27:09 EST Hello - New to the 5:2 Hello team, my name is Tracey and today is my first day on the fast diet. I am not considering this a diet as I feel that I can do this for a lifetime. Today is my first day. I am doing the supper 24 hours from 6pm to 6pm so I ate my last meal at 6:00pm Sundays and go for as long as I can on Monday before breaking the fast. My goal is to fast the whole day Monday but if I can't, I have 500 calories I can consume until 6:00pm and then I resume my regular eating after. 6:00pm. My second fa... Wed, 6 Nov 2013 18:25:25 EST November Team Chatter I may or may not have forgotten that the months changed. I was in Minneapolis the past few days and touched my favorite musician. It was cool enough that we were front row center, but then we left for food after the show, came back over an hour later to call a cab because we knew the address to the venue but not to anywhere else. The cab never showed up, but the band did. I've been geeking out and really not very functional since then.

How has everyone's first few days of the month... Sun, 3 Nov 2013 09:55:18 EST question regarding non-fast days! so- for the past two weeks, i have been sticking to around 1200 cals and being super healthy on my non-fast days....until yesterday haha. i had like 2150 cals, including a bunch of alcohol.

SO MY QUESTION IS: do you think it is better to indulge MORE or LESS on non-fasting days? i would love some input! (and thank god, today is a fast day, so i am making up for yesterday's excess!) Fri, 1 Nov 2013 09:02:16 EST Beginning fast days at work. What's it like? Hi, I have been doing one 500 cal day per week, but only on the weekends. I am scared to try it on a work day. I am afraid I will be unable to do my job well enough (office work with lots of communication), get lethargic, and/or feel sick on the bus on the way home.

Please tell me about your experiences when you first tried a 500/600 cal day at work. Any tips to get through the day would also be appreciated.

Thank you!
Mon, 7 Oct 2013 19:11:04 EST October Team Chatter I love sweater weather. This was why I decided to do it and really thought it would have gone down. I'm really disappointed. The total number. If I had my paperwork with me I'd post my numbers. Anyone else have similar results? Mon, 16 Sep 2013 09:55:27 EST First week This is my first week on 5:2. Today was my first fast day. There have been days at work that I have been so busy that I don't have time to eat and have been fine. I was purposely not eating today and I was MISERABLE!!! I thought about food ALL day!!! I plan on completing a few weeks on the 5:2 to see if it makes a difference. Wow, I hope it gets better. Tue, 3 Sep 2013 22:03:53 EST Gaining it back.... ughhhhh! I do very well on my down days......stay at or a little under the 500 calories. And I lose a few pounds but then put them right back on after the up days. I really don't think I'm over eating on those days but guess I'll have to really watch how much I eat. Does this happen to others and do those pounds finally stay off after on the diet for awhile?? Just wondering because it just doesn't seem worth it if I'm going to lose and then gain it back. Thanks!! Sun, 1 Sep 2013 11:48:19 EST Hello My name is Lucy, AKA LovePurple2. I've been sitting here for the better part of an hour reading almost every single post on this team. The reason I'm here is because I've been doing 1,500 calorie days having a little success and then I got sick about a week ago and the medication killed my appetite. I went three days eating only because I had to but not getting anywhere close to 1,500 calories. I ended up losing 2 pounds that week. I blogged about the temporary "starvation" and if that w... Wed, 28 Aug 2013 23:58:57 EST Need help - not losing weight! Hi everyone. I have been on the Fast Diet for a week, with a total of 3 fast days completed (I am 3 hours away from completing my 3rd fast day). I have not cheated on the fast days at all - in fact, I find them pretty easy. But I have not lost any weight at all - not one pound! I don't overeat on the other days, and I run 10 miles a week, so I get plently of exercise. Can someone tell me what I'm doing wrong? Fri, 23 Aug 2013 15:55:44 EST Free IF book for kindle Hi all. This is amazing to me since i have still eaten pretty much what i wanted on my non-fasting days. I have been consuming between 1700 and 1900 calories and this seems like so much food to me since i was limiting to 1400 to 1500 every day before i started this method. As of this morning's "unofficial" weigh in i am within .5 lb. of my goal weight and it has been very manageable. I have been getting about 1700-1800 calories on feed days during the week and maybe around 1900-2000 on the weekends and still losing weight. I am feeling great and find that the longer i follow the 5:2 the easier my fast days get, less hunger and more energy. I do also try to exercise the morning after my fast... Wed, 14 Aug 2013 12:29:15 EST be true to the 5:2 fast diet plan When posting recipes, we should be very much aware that all 500 cal meal plans are not "created equal". 5:2 program insists on specific foods, with low GI and GL, therefore very few (mostly the ones in the book) meet this standards. Also, proteins are almost exclusively fish and chicken. I guess my point is not all the meals that fit calorically, are otherwise fitted for the plan. Wed, 14 Aug 2013 10:26:55 EST Calorie Count When I entered all my info into the system it gave me how many calories to eat each day to lose weight. Thu, 8 Aug 2013 17:51:37 EST Newbie with questions. I plan on starting The Fast Diet soon. I've been reading the boards trying to figure out what is the best way to do this diet. Some say they eat breakfast, lunch and dinner on a fast day and then others are saying its supposed to be a Fasting so you shouldn't eat all day like that but only eat once or maybe twice. Any suggestions or ideas??? Wed, 7 Aug 2013 10:09:22 EST Fast Diet vs JUDDD Hi everyone, I'm not actually new to Spark or JUDDD (Johnsons Up Day Down Day diet or alternating diet) but am new to The Fast Diet or 5:2 as I think it's also called. I've done JUDDD for a few years (off and on) and do well with it but it's not that easy....especially having to do a down day every other day. Tue, 6 Aug 2013 11:46:18 EST A little confused please. Hi all, I did my first fast yesterday and did really good.....until about 6pm, then I became SUPER hungry. I could have literally eaten everything in the house (but I didn't). I seem to recall in the book that the fasting is for a 24 hour period (or 500 calories in a 24 hour period) and that I could, in fact, do my fast from dinner to dinner instead of from the time I wake up.
Does this mean I could eat dinner, say at 5pm, normally on one day, wake up the next day and eat 500 calories u... Then, a week later, my mother was talking about the same plan and had even bought the book. I took it as a sign LOL. So I finished the book today and am going to try it. Sun, 2 Jun 2013 11:15:15 EST introduction Hi all! I feel like I have done way too many introductions on sparkpeople. Hopefully this will be the last one.

A relative told me about this diet on 5/4 and I began it on 5/7/13. I have lost 5 to 6 lbs. depending on the day I weigh in. While I don't workout on a fast day, I did managed to walk quite a bit when running errands. I was hungry but it was manageable. Though I did feel quite tense and wobbly in the evening.

My official weigh in is tomorrow (Saturday) but I'm pretty sure my weight has not gone down this week. Fri, 31 May 2013 06:49:19 EST First week on The Fast Diet Hi everyone

I've just completed my first week on The Fast Diet. I started a new job recently and the women I share an office with are doing Monday and Thursday fasts, so I thought I'd join in. Before I started I noticed that I was feeling hungry all the time even though I was eating (even though I was over-eating, in fact). So these hunger pangs I was having were obviously more than a little bit misleading and I can't rely on them to indicate to me that I need to eat.

... I am not petite by any means, 5'6" large bones (did the wrist measurements to confirm), carrying around an extra 80lbs and just could not do the 500 cals but just by adding... Sat, 18 May 2013 11:30:13 EST Just Joining the Fast Diet Group Today Three years ago I reduced my weight from 290+ to 180 lbs. This was thanks to my use of Sparkspeople to track my calorie intake & my calories burned through exercise. Since then I continued to track my daily intake & my exercise. Last year my average weight averaged 178 with a daily standard deviation of less than 2 pounds.

My goal for this year was to reduce my average weight by 1 lb. However, this has been an elusive goal. Instead of losing I began to gain somewhat. I hit 1... Fri, 17 May 2013 21:21:51 EST help or suggestions please I just finished my third week of the fast diet, and my weight has barely budged. I actually gained 1lb in the middle week, and now I'm back down to the weight that I started at. I'm weighing myself at the same time each week after the 2nd fast day. I still try to eat healthy on my feast days. I incorporated exercise in this last week too. I'm looking for suggestions on how to maximize the effects of this diet, it seems like my body is highly resistant to losing.
Note that I'm on my l... I haven't been able to get the scale to budge for well over a year. I have all my skinny jeans that I have not been able to get into and even my "fat" jeans were tight. I started the Fast Diet the beginning of March. I was seeing very slow loss, but I was seeing loss, which encouraged me. Although I was SO jealous when I would get on here and see people down 4 lbs in a week. I did about a lb a week. I have been walking and consistently exercising 30-60... Fri, 3 May 2013 08:53:21 EST May Team Chatter A new thread for a new month, so chat away! I figure if we kept on in the other one, things were going to eventually get confusing. Wed, 1 May 2013 11:25:14 EST Fast day meals I'm trying different menus on my fast days. Yesterday I had coffee with 1% milk for breakfast and decided to not eat lunch and save my 450 calories left for dinner so I didn't have to worry so much about going over. For dinner I had 3 scallops cooked in less than a tablespoon of oil and butter mixture, broccoli, and a salad with salsa for dressing. I figured it was less than 400 calories but not sure so didn't have a 100 calorie fudge bar for dessert. Fri, 26 Apr 2013 16:13:43 EST week 3 Oops I put this post in team chatter instead. Fri, 26 Apr 2013 09:00:25 EST Tips from anyone who has been doing this for ages? Hi all!
I've just started - not the alternate day diet but the 5:2 diet. I fast monday and thursday, i find doing more is too much.
I'm only on my third week and have lost 2 kg (4 pounds), it feels good and i'm happy with it.
I'm just wondering how this diet works long term. Has anyone been on it for a long time here? I would love to hear your experiences.
-Is there a time when you get tired of the diet?
-What do you to when you get to plateaus and the weight stands s...
