It's really irritating because I can't do any squats or leg press at all but I'm taking it easy. I just do too much leg workouts and too much cardios at the gym. Slowly building my strenght in my legs. I use to do cardio 2 to 3 times a week and now 1 maybe twice a week. Kinda frustrating sometimes but it's not gonna weigh me down. I'm not really trying to lose weight, although I would love to. My problem is that I'm unable to consume enough calories and my body tends to eat the muscle I work on building doing my rehab. So my thing is that I must be 90% fat and 10% muscle. Most people look at me and see me as average to healthy weight...but they see me clothed. I lack no motivation for being active, I lack capacity. Sat, 3 Aug 2013 09:11:13 EST Defining Maintenance July was a difficult month for me. My Spark People story is great. I lost 55 pounds and reached my target weight on March 31 and for three months I successfully maintained that weight. However in July a series of conferences I needed to attend plus a week of volunteer work at a camp followed by a family reunion threw me completely out of the exercise and eating routines I had put in place with Spark People. I gained eleven pounds. I've returned to serious dieting mode and as of this morni... Mon, 29 Jul 2013 08:57:33 EST What do you think of daily visualization exercise? Mon, 17 Jun 2013 21:19:26 EST New Beginnings I have been having problems with staying consistent so I have re-set program today. I am going to see how long I can truthfully follow my goals. I will be using "Other Goals" to start and keep streaks going. I am also keeping a journal that will have my TO-DO list, Daily goals list, Other Goals list, Walking Program, Exercise journal, and Food and water journal. Because the nature of Spark People is positive reinforcement, I invite you to check in regularly to share your "triumph of the day." I'll start by sharing mine from yesterday.

I took my mom to lunch at a local Chinese buffet yesterday, where it's hard for me to control my eating because everything is SO GOOD. But I went into the restaurant with a game plan and steely resolve, and I walked out ha... Sat, 23 Feb 2013 11:41:46 EST Does weight loss slow down close to our goal? I have lost 38 pounds and I plan to lose ten more. For most of this journey I have been very fortunate. I have lost about two pounds a week - this was certainly helpful in keeping me motivated. I know I have been fortunate. But now the weight seems to be coming off much more slowly - about a half pound per week. Is it normal for the weight loss rate to slow down as we come close to our target weight - or is there probably some other reason why I am experiencing this change. Tue, 19 Feb 2013 08:52:55 EST What does "mindfulness" mean to you? After whining to my friend about my frustration over not seeing better results from eating healthy and exercising, she asked me, "Are you doing these things mindfully, or are you just going through the motions?"

That stopped me in my tracks, because I really am just going through the motions.

It got me thinking about what "mindfulness" actually means in these matters. Does it mean being more engaged in the moment? Like, savoring each bite of food as you eat? Focusing on... Wed, 13 Feb 2013 16:00:38 EST Remembering this is a *journey* Two weeks into my latest Spark People (and four days into my Spark Coach) journey, I'm already feeling frustrated. I know this is dumb. I realize weight loss is a process, not instant gratification. But the scale has registered the exact same number every morning for three days in a row, and I can't deny it's extremely frustrating.

Actually, it's not the fact the scale hasn't moved. The frustration comes from feeling I'm doing everything right but still not seeing results. I faithf... Wed, 13 Feb 2013 10:22:18 EST Goal Visualization Day 1 of SparkCoach and it tells me to my visualize my goal. I have drawn a blank when I was thinking of this. I have so focused on my goal of reaching 100 pound loss and maintaining it. My visualization is being 140 pounds and crossing the finish line for a full marathon. Why does it feel unattainable? Maybe that means it is a good challenge. I didn't think I could lose 100 pounds either.

Sun, 10 Feb 2013 17:29:26 EST Suggestion for Coach Nicole The push up demo is today only will work for those who are able to get down on the floor. Many of us with disabilities, hip replacements, etc. cannot do this. It would have been good to remind and/or show people that there are wall and/or counter push ups. I appreciate all you do, but there are a lot of us who could benefit from this instruction as well.

Thank you. for your dedication. Mon, 4 Feb 2013 12:30:51 EST Kicking sugar! I just signed up today, but am worried I will sabatoge myself! I have a major problem with sugar and caffiene. I can honestly say that I drink most of my calories and sugars. Tea, coffee and soda are my biggest enemy and biggest habits. I'm a sugar and caffiene junky! Any advice? I have never really tried to come off either so I'm not sure how difficult it will really be, but I do know that I will miss the sugar at first. Don't really enjoy black coffee or unsweetened tea. I do not look at this as a diet but a new life journey. I am interested in vegetarian/vegan eating and a more mindful and simpler life as I am entering the last third of my life. I look forward to learning and living well!!!! Thu, 10 Jan 2013 04:07:03 EST Question I noticed that when I post somethign on message boards that my points and fitness minutes aren't showing up. Does anyone know how to fix this? Wed, 9 Jan 2013 14:59:02 EST Doing things I've never done before I have been participating in the January Jumpstart Challenge. My workout video today was arm of the more weaker areas on my body. And you will never guess what my SparkCoach challenge was for today...50 pushups!!! That is 50 pushups throughout the day...not necessarily all at once. I have never been able to do more than 5 pushups at a time so I was really dreading this challenge. I'm happy to say its only 11:00 and I've already done 30!!! I'm so amazed at what I can do o... Tue, 8 Jan 2013 11:01:19 EST My challenges Today, Coach Nicole told me to "Move with Mother Nature". Seeing as I'm usually running outside this was right up my street. But I promised myself a rest day today. So I just went for what I thought would be a short walk-2 miles at most I promised myself. Anyway, cue discovering a little canal route (Birmingham UK is FULL of canal routes) and I've walked 2x more than I originally intended, and I found a nice little piece of greenery in the UK 2nd largest city! 224 104 Sat, 5 Jan 2013 09:05:45 EST My biggest struggle My biggest struggle is self-esteem. During the afternoon I have a habit of wanting something chocolate. I am surprised how much time I can let slip by while I am sitting and reading. Wed, 2 Jan 2013 21:52:56 EST You know it's time to resolve to lose weight when. You know it's time for a New Year's resolution to lose weight when you step on a talking scale and it says, "One at a time, please!"

246 334 Sat, 29 Dec 2012 09:45:45 EST Your opinion: resetting weight goal First, some BACKGROUND: When I started at SP in October, I just wanted to lose weight.
SP asked me for a goal weight, so I plugged in 158. (I didn't really care . . . just wanted to be under 160).

Well, I am 162 right now which is 5 pounds away from that number.
However, 158 is not my final destination. ( And I'm still not sure what number that will be.)

A few weeks ago, when I dropped below 170, I switched my goal weight to 155, and that's what the tr... Wed, 26 Dec 2012 18:03:32 EST HELP!! What do you do when you can't get enough? Had a busy day yesterday and was looking forward to grilled chicken breasts stuff with mushrooms for dinner. About 5 minutes after they went into the oven, our power went out. I was starved and dinner being an hour and a half late didn't help. Due to the power outage, we had a can of cold green beans for vegetable.

Half an hour after dinner, I was still hungry and had a piece of bread and half a tablespoon of peanut butter thinking that would fill the gap. Sat, 15 Dec 2012 22:53:47 EST Please pray for Newtown There was a school shooting in my state today. Just 45 minutes from my home 27 people were murdered by a lunatic. 18 children lost their lives and right now there are no answers for parents, 9 teachers, or administrators families. Why? I just lost 25 lbs and I do not want to lose more. (awful problem I know!) I worked for a year to lose the weight and I wanted to stop 4 lbs ago. I want to learn how to maintain. I need help because I am eating more but still losing. Yet, I do not want to gain the weight back! Help! I need to customize a plan but I do not know who to talk to! Can you help me? Mon, 3 Dec 2012 10:16:05 EST Touching Base This is a funny phrase, isn't it? A base is a safe place, and touching can be like contact. I like it. Something else I'm working on, though I don't have a checkbox for it, is to make a conscious effort to show my kids I love them. I have a friend who is a research psychiatrist and they told me that rejection actually correlates with neuro inflammation. So hug someone today, it's good for their brain!
