SparkPeople OXYGEN Readers Team Messageboard A team for those that love to read Oxygen! This magazine offers a plethora of information from training, nutrition, medical areas, nutrition, & overall health. SparkPeople OXYGEN Readers Team Messageboard Novemer 2013 issue Just got the November 2013 issue in the mail.
True to their word, full subscription term - my expiration date was extended the extra 3 months to account for the three months of no issue.
The format and style is the same as the former Oxygen. Magazine seems a little thin, but hoping that will change as time goes on.
Just happy to have my Oxygen back! Fri, 25 Oct 2013 09:07:49 EST Oxygen Bankrupt Well, I wondered why I hadn't got my August issue yet - way overdue. So I did a little google search and found out why - RK Pubs has declared bankruptcy.

Very sad to see this as I loved both Oxygen and Clean Eating magazine. Sounds as if they are hoping to sell the brands to someone else so they can continue. I hope so - but if not, at least I saved my last 6 years of Oxygen to re-read.

Dang! All the preparation, planning and hunting for obscure ingredient just exhausts me! I fell off the wagon big time during the holidays but I'm here to recommit myself to eating right. This time I'm just going to concentrate on portions and not worry about eating 6 times a day or getting the right supplements. I'm not planning on becoming a fitness model so I don't need to eat like one. No weird stuff, jus... Thu, 3 Jan 2013 09:23:31 EST Nutri Bullet Does anyone have the Nutri Bullet? I've been doing the Plyo dvd from P90X and I realized that we go for about 1 min of high intensity type jumping w/little rest in between...

Would this be HIIT or sustained cardio? Mon, 27 Apr 2009 06:54:48 EST 1st magazine finally arrive in the mail! I'm new to Oxygen and weight lifting. I've started looking through the new magazine and I'm loving what I've seen so far! Sat, 25 Apr 2009 14:46:50 EST New Teammate from Chicago! Hi everyone! I LOVE this magazine! I have read it for probably 4 years and I can't believe the way it has changed my life! I have found myself getting selfish tho. I FINALLY just got rid of 2006 issues. I don't like clutter but I can't bear to get rid of any of these issues! Tosca is my role model! I am not as big as her but I am also NOT as tight as she is now! I really hope I will be!

Jess Sat, 18 Apr 2009 13:37:46 EST Question about workout schedule I've noticed in some of the Oxygen magazine issues that when they give their recommendation of how many times a week to do the workout.

Example, they have a biceps workout and they recommend to do it twice a week for best results. Same with their upper body workout.

I workout 6 days a week
Mon Chest, Triceps & Shoulders
Tue HIIT
Wed Cardio
Thurs Legs, Abs
Fri Back, Biceps, Abs
Sat Cardio

Sould I add in weight training aga... I am soo excited that there is a team for Oxygen readers, as I read Oxygen religously!! Team Creator..stroke of genious 211 Mon, 13 Apr 2009 16:37:38 EST Winter 2009, 7 weeks to a better you plan Has anyone tried the 7 weeks to a better you plan? I am trying to ditch a few pounds and attempt to lean out a bit. I have liked the 3 part series for a better body and figured I could give this a try. Any thoughts? Sun, 12 Apr 2009 13:22:04 EST Anyone do the 30 day plan in the Fat Loss edition? I found this magazine at the bottom of a pile and thought that the meal plan in this edition consisted of items I would actually like to eat. Just wonder if anyone tried the plan and if they had success, were hungry, etc. Looks to me like they only make room for one snack per day, so I was thinking of leaving something out of one of the meals and having it as an additional snack as I get really hungry when at work for 12 hr shifts. Sun, 29 Mar 2009 12:27:50 EST How to best target back fat? Ok...I have back fat...I admit it. It's not heinous but it's the first place I gain weight. It's the little roll under the bra strap?

This is what I know: cardio (fat loss)is one part of the equation as much as weight work like lat pull downs, rows, etc. And of course, the diet should be as clean as possible.

Anyone know anything I might be missing? Any secret to a beautiful back?

My ideal back? Remember the article in the issue that came out before t... Fri, 27 Mar 2009 23:50:28 EST Need a Schedule - Getting Upset.. Hi O2 readers,

My husband just got me this magazine for the first time like 3 weeks ago and I devoured it.

I just had my 3rd baby about 9 months ago and I'm looking to get back to my goal weight of 150. I'm currently 182 and I'm 5'6.

I'm strong and when I go to the gym, I don't mess around. I focus and make sure to pick the weights that are going to make me push through the last few reps.

I've been doing the Dream Makeover workout for the last 3... Wed, 25 Mar 2009 20:39:39 EST Not new,but back!!!!! I am trying my second round with spark. I have been reading Oxygen for about 7 years. I love it.This team will be great.I am finally motivated again.I think I can do it. Wed, 25 Mar 2009 20:17:27 EST workout on the playground Weather was so nice yesterday, I took my girls to the park. Anyone know of a link to a workout to do on the playground for beginners? I know I see a lot of that type of activity on the shows I have watched on TV. I thought it might be a great way to get some activity in while spending time with my kids. Mon, 23 Mar 2009 12:15:25 EST Cover to Cover Reader... I'm glad I found this team, I absolutely adore Oxygen! I'm just now getting back into fitness since I had my kids, and I need a TON of work. I am now at my heaviest ever, and I need help!

I've been getting Oxygen for at least a year, but still couldn't find my motivation, even though I get so excited when I get my new Mag each month. That feeling just wasn't lasting even after reading them cover to cover! Now I caught the bug and I'm beyond ready to get my live back!

... Mon, 16 Mar 2009 12:14:25 EST 21 day plan? So, I had a rough couple of months in my training and eating due to injury and illness. I put some weight back on and took my training down a notch. I am trying to get back in the swing of things and rebuild, and I thought this looked like a good plan to get me refocused on eating clean. It is at the low side of my suggested calorie intake as it stands, so it isn't too extreme.

Is anyone else trying it? Anyone have thoughts on it? (It's in the Spring 2009 issue) Sun, 15 Mar 2009 21:15:15 EST Heavy/Light Training Hi! Anyone doing the Heavy/Light Training from the Stronger, Fitter You article in the Spring 2009 Edition? I am considering it as it looks totally doable for me. Fri, 13 Mar 2009 12:55:19 EST Fruit Explosion Protein Shake I was experimenting today and I created a protein shake that tasted pretty damn good if I say so myself!!! Check it out:

l.asp?recipe=539817
Tue, 24 Feb 2009 22:19:09 EST The Cashew Butter Chicken Stew We made the Cashew Butter Chicken stew last night and it was out of this world. The kids loved it so much and I was so excited for my lunch leftover's today. Tue, 24 Feb 2009 20:42:17 EST Greek-ish Chicken
I just wanted to highly recommend the "Greek-ish chicken" recipe from the newest oxygen (April '09). It is delicious and SO easy to make. The only bad thing was I dripped olive oil in my brand new magazine. My husband won't eat leftovers and he even took some to work for his lunch. It's packed with protein and is a great deviation from regular ole chicken breasts everyday. Good luck everyone, work hard "sisters in steel." :-) Tue, 24 Feb 2009 15:07:22 EST Timing food & excercise I was eating a light breakfast then doing my cardio workout (1/2 - 1 hour) then doing my strength workouts (1/2 - 1 hour), THEN having a protein bar.
Would it be better to have the protein bar BEFORE doing my strength workout? So my muscles have something to build on?
Thanks in advance for any advice! Mon, 23 Feb 2009 12:55:11 EST I ordered my subscription today! I ordered my subscription today! I met my goal weight yesterday; I've lost about 50 pounds! (my goal was 154, so I set a new goal of 149 pounds)
I rewarded myself with a new ticker and a subscription to Oxygen magazine...
Now, I just have to wait 6 weeks for it... 24 Sat, 21 Feb 2009 14:54:15 EST Newbie to team! I tried the No Cook Protein Bar recipe from Oxygen (can't find it now which issue it was in) but I wrote down the recipe to try.
Anyways, someone on the P90X Bring It team wanted to know if anyone had a recipe for protein bars. So, even though I hadn't tried it yet, I shared it with them...
The memnber said that they were AWFUL!
So, as to not be put off, I tried making them myself. I thought they were AWESOME! I had to add a little more water to make them stick together, b... Sat, 14 Feb 2009 18:26:27 EST New to the team!! Hello team :)

I am new to SP and found this team... I use to be a fan of muscle and fitness HERS, but they sold out to too many adds and no longer do subscriptions. I am so geeked to join this group I think it will be great. . .HELLO ALL!!
34 Mon, 9 Feb 2009 12:13:57 EST Has Anyone done the 3 Month Dream Body Routine? I've been looking over the 3 Month Dream Body plan and wanted to know if anyone else has done this?

Some of the routine seems a little begginer for me, but it can easily be apdated for an intermediate to advanced lifter.

I really like how they have 3 different splits, 1 for each month and was just curious as to your results or thoughts!

I was going to get back to the gym Mid-March so month 1 would be great for me to do at home as there are no machines needed!... Fri, 6 Feb 2009 13:40:53 EST Hello! Hi there! I was so glad to find this group on SP... I've been an Oxygen fan for about 12 months and I love it. It's spoiled me though, now I find myself unable to read Self or Shape. I love the more muscular look and have finally come to terms with the fact that the waif look is not in my future (ever!)..... Anyhow, glad to see everyone here! Tue, 27 Jan 2009 13:52:36 EST Hi from a Newbie Hi Ladies just wanted to say "Hi"

Mazza64 224 Sun, 25 Jan 2009 14:42:26 EST NEW OXYGEN ADDICT!!! I plan to increase gradually. My question is, is it better to increase the mph, or the incline and walk slower? So far, I feel that walking longer with a higher incline makes me feel better than trying to walk too fast (or run even at this point) at zero incline. Anyway, can feel it more in my legs with the high incline and feel I am actually doing something?? Fri, 16 Jan 2009 21:55:40 EST New Here! Hello! I'm new to the team, and I LOVE Oxygen!
Thanks for having me here! Thu, 15 Jan 2009 18:53:37 EST Larry King link Biggest Loser Winners
In case you missed it. It has Month 2 of the 3 month Dream Body Makeover workout. I am personally saving all 3 months to use for when I get back to the gym in Mid April!

I really loved and am thankful for your ideas about putting the workouts and recipes in a binder. I now have a HUGE binder full of workout routines and am very eager to get going on them! Thanks!

Enjoy March when you receive it! Sun, 11 Jan 2009 10:44:46 EST Whey protein.... Hey guys...first off, I just joined this team yesterday...SO excited to get to spark with some fellow Oxygen readers!
I am wanting to start supplementing my nutrition and exercise program with whey protein, but I have lots of questions!
Should I buy flavored, or un-flavored? Does anyone have a particular kind they like? Do you all use it in recipes that you cook as well as smoothies, etc? Do you think it has helped you to lose weight/gain muscle?
Thanks in advance! :-)
... Wed, 7 Jan 2009 12:05:05 EST Disappointed So I got the Winter Special Fat Loss issue last night finally! but noticed that they completely copied the 30 day meal plan from the Summers special issue article 28 days to Shrink Your Waist . They couldn't get creative and make up a new 1 week meal plan to follow for 4 wks. Come on. Wed, 7 Jan 2009 10:44:01 EST
