SparkPeople Loving Yourself Team Messageboard It is so important for people to want to build up their self esteem. As the saying goes if no one else is going to love me then I have to because I'm important. SparkPeople Loving Yourself Team Messageboard Daily "Streak" check-in I just wanted a place to keep track of my 2 new streaks, which are
1) staying in my calorie range and
2) walking my dog everyday

Today is day 3 on both!
YAY, me! Mon, 17 Sep 2012 12:37:26 EST I'm battling Demons. "You're a pretty girl you know" I was told, two weekends ago. I paused. For a moment I thought he was speaking to somebody else, somebody behind me. Then I wondered, "what does he want?" failing that, the voice in my head told me. "Eh, he is only telling you that because you're his friend." I smiled awkwardly "...thank you" I replied, practised, having learned to reply gracefully to compliments, while my inside wanted to scream "oh, my hair is a mess, and I'm feeling bloated, and fat and excu... Thu, 6 Sep 2012 07:56:12 EST Self Love Hello! I am new to this team, and new to Sparkpeople. I have come to realize that self love needs to be the foundation of my weight loss, and am happy to find a group with the theme of self love. Sun, 2 Sep 2012 14:28:06 EST Into to Extreme Self Love Hi all,

Just a little line to note that I'm just so really happy to have found this Team. Looking forward to getting to know you a little better over time and hope to be actively involved as much as I can. Getting healthy involves a real time commitment, and much of my effort will be concentrated on what goes on in the kitchen, at the dinner table, plus gaining a real sense of balance between rest and activity. Glad that we have found each other on this journey!

Cheers,... Sat, 25 Aug 2012 13:35:29 EST Huzzah! New to this team, not to spark, have been on and off here for years. Full disclosure on my current user name, am NOT a chef, just a person trying to learn to cook more at home now that my career life is less busy.

Was browsing teams a while ago and can't tell you how the concept of "extreme self love" lept out at moi, as I am very down today for some reason.

I do suffer from extreme self love lol ... most of the time ... it is a good thing to suffer from. Sun, 19 Aug 2012 22:32:31 EST Hi! I'm Eydie. I just realized that I've had this team photo on my bathroom wall for years with the caption "What matters most is how you see yourself." It's been a long journey but I finally love myself and see myself as worthy. I finally truly understand that taking care of myself, eating well, exercising, and all those "worldly" things are important ways to show love for ourselves. Fri, 17 Aug 2012 21:12:58 EST Lose 5% over 12 weeks This is a challenge I got from a fellow Sparker.

The goal is to lose 5% of your weight over the next 8 weeks. For me, that means losing just 11 lbs. My final goal is to lose 106 lbs and that can be pretty intimidating, but 5% of my weight is really do-able!

So today, I re-set my spark goal to lose just 11 lbs over the next 8 weeks, and I am going to commit to tracking my calories, staying within my limits, and exercising everyday, for the next 8 weeks. I want to weigh ... Fri, 22 Jun 2012 17:23:13 EST Hump Day Challenge Wednesday is halfway through the week and some of us start losing our "ooomph" about then, so I thought everyone might enjoy a short, week long challenge--starting every Wednesday.

Since today is Wednesday, I have a challenge for us for the week:
Everyday this week, get at least half an hour of cardio exercise. It can be anything you want to do (biking, dancing, running, walking, treadmill, etc) but it should be enough to get your heart pumping and make you sweat at least a ... Sun, 1 Apr 2012 22:22:13 EST 5-Minute Pep Talk vs Self Love Meditation This was a comment I put in a thread and I wanted other ppl to see it so I am making it a post here. Please DO NOT REPLY to this post because it will get buried and folks won't see it.

I don't know how many folks know the difference between a "pep talk" and a "self love meditation" so I thought it would be useful if I clarified it:

Pep Talk:
Using positive self talk, and keeping it up for 5 minutes. I open a word document and continually type positive "bullets" unti... Thu, 29 Mar 2012 10:27:29 EST April challenge This first month's challenge is to help us just get started taking control of our (emotional) eating patterns. For April, all we are going to do is plan our meals ahead, and then follow the plan. We can do this planning in the tracker, so we'll all be tracking our nutrition and by the end of April we should have really mastered it!

For this challenge, you will need to plan your nutrition ahead and follow the plan, 8 days out of 10 (80% of the time). So by the end of April, you shou... Wed, 28 Mar 2012 14:43:53 EST Good morning from Mississippi!!! Hey y'all! My name is Amanda, I am 28 years old, and I am a married mother of three girls, ages 10, 7, and 5. I have been married to my (sometimes) wonderful husband for eleven years and we work together, so we are literally together TWENTY FOUR/SEVEN!!!

I have always had self esteem problems and problems telling people NO when I should. I joined this team to meet others like me. I have let people walk all over me for most of my life, and I am tired of it. I will be thirty next yea... Wed, 28 Mar 2012 08:12:57 EST First Challenge: Membership Drive! We only have about a week left of March, and I would like to use this short time for our first challenge: It's time to get some new members to join our team! Lets aim for at least 3 new members each, and if you know others who would enjoy and benefit from, this team, invite them!!!

Then beginning next month, we'll have a 30 day challenge each month so we can focus on one aspect of taking care of ourselves, and really make it a habit! Thu, 22 Mar 2012 22:14:57 EST Self help (or other) book you are reading I'm working on building up my confidence so I have a lot of that kind of book at the moment but what I am reading right now is called "Get Anyone to Do Anything" by David J. Lieberman. It's not that I want to be a control freak, I am just tired of ppl ignoring me and treating me with no respect, and these kinds of books are about developing leadership and charisma traits. I haven't actually started it yet and I hope it's good. I'll let you know tomorrow.

Tue, 20 Mar 2012 22:29:39 EST Did you reward yourself today and how? I gave myself a sparkly green clover sticker for my calendar and one square (1/4 serving) of a Lindt 70% cocoa bar. Tue, 20 Mar 2012 22:16:53 EST Beauty Focus for the month This is a place to make a commitment to your beauty and appearance. If you have let yourself go, then NOW is the time to start taking better care of yourself! Wed, 14 Mar 2012 15:23:32 EST Overcoming Emotional Eating This is a place for activities and goals that will help us all develop healthier relationships with food. Some of the challenges I have planned are:

1. journaling about WHY you are eating, BEFORE you eat.

2. a self affirming Hindu meal prayer or a similar prayer of your choice

3. eating mindfully

4. focusing on fullness

5. changing your comfort foods

6. other suggestions? Wed, 14 Mar 2012 14:51:53 EST 5 things I am proud of, or love about myself today Today I
1. got up and made myself a healthy breakfast
2. made a commitment to change my life
3. complimented myself for cleaning house last night
4. planned something fun and active to do with my son Dominic today (rollar skating)
5. started this team
Wed, 14 Mar 2012 14:13:02 EST My name is Reina.. I'm pagan, I dream of homesteading, and I am an outdoorsy, adventurous kind of girl. I'm tired of putting myself down and putting myself last, and I am not going to abuse my body any more! I am committed to building my self esteem and learning to love myself. I hope to find others that feel like I do! Wed, 14 Mar 2012 14:00:45 EST Basic Care This is a challenge to take the best possible care of yourself, inside and out. The goal is to provide yourself with the same loving care you would give to your child. Use this thread to post your "Daily 5":

1. Feed yourself well: a nutrient-dense diet rich in veggies and fresh fruits, whole grains, lean proteins, and healthful fats. It has to be beautiful and delicious, and you must give yourself enough time to eat it in peace. Aim for at least 5 fruits and veggies a day. Aim for ... Wed, 14 Mar 2012 13:22:38 EST Self-Love Meditation Once each day, just take a moment to thank your body for being there for you. As you rub lotion into your skin, thank your legs for taking you everywhere even when you have neglected them. As you use a loofah or pumice stone, thank your feet for holding you up even when you have allowed yourself to be too heavy. Thank your body for "being there" for you. It sounds a little funny but you will be AMAZED at the transformation in how you begin to feel about yourself. Wed, 14 Mar 2012 13:12:25 EST What gift did you give yourself today? This is a place to post a daily gift. It should usually be an act of nurturing or an experience, with only an occasional gift of a purchase. Wed, 14 Mar 2012 13:09:19 EST Did you give yourself a 5 minute pep talk today? Replace that negative self talk with affirmative action! Post if you gave yourself a pep talk today. Here's an example of a GREAT pep talk, to get you started:
Wed, 14 Mar 2012 13:05:05 EST
