SparkPeople Bariatric Surgery support Team Messageboard For those who have had Bariatric surgery or contemplating having it. SparkPeople Bariatric Surgery support Team Messageboard carbonation Hi, I'm new and just started the pre-op diet. I'm emptying my kitchen of thing I won't be able to have. Does anyone know if letting pop go stale will remove the carbonation so that it is acceptable. I've been pulling recipes from my files that will work but I'm unsure about how to get them to the right amounts to have. Any help would be great. Mon, 3 Feb 2014 13:11:27 EST Having Gastric Sleeve Surgery Finally, I scheduled for gastric sleeve surgery by the help of PlacidWay and it will be held on April 2014. We moved to Lexington from Cincinnati last October and we got to go back home to visit. We kind of lived out in the country there and miss it. Lexington is small but it's VERY congested! We miss having room to breathe ;-)

Ok and yes, I went WAY off my food plan yesterday and stopped for pizza at a local pizza. Yummm...was so good. I'm paying for it today though. I'm craving junk food and sweets. Ugh! Starting all over, but even... Mon, 29 Jul 2013 12:41:24 EST Friday, July 26, 2013 Hey, what happened to yesterday? Totally missed posting yesterday. My apologies.

My husband had to go for his first day of testing today. I did this last Friday. It included his first weigh in (12 lbs gone so far and I've lost 10!!), appointment with the Psychologist, blood work drawn, EKG and an Endoscopy. Everything went well.

I heard from the center the other day and I have to go in for 2 non-exercise stress tests next week due to what they said was an abnormal EKG?? ... I hope everybody have a great weekend and you were able to keep cool!

That being said, what are you challenges during the weekend? How do you overcome them? During the weekend, we are not on the schedule we usually are on, and tend to eat out more. Are you this way, too? How do you stay on track during the weekend? Mon, 22 Jul 2013 10:08:15 EST Sunday, July 21, 2013 Hope whenever you read this, you are having a wonderful Sunday! Haha, that's my plan anyway!

Are you post- or pre-surgery? What are the biggest challenge you have had to overcome since your journey began and how did you best deal with them?

I am about 2 months pre-surgery and have just started with my... Fri, 17 Aug 2012 12:13:22 EST Welcome to our bariatric surgery support forum! I know it can be challenging to find a good support system when you are going through the bariatric surgery experience. So many people don’t understand that morbid obesity is a debilitating disease and at times it calls for surgical intervention. My own parents and sister did not support my decision. It is hard to hear people say negative things and feel that you are all alone… BUT YOU ARE NOT!!! We are here to support you and together we will be successful and learn to be healthy. We will dr... Mon, 6 Aug 2012 17:38:01 EST surgery 08/01/12 Hello team! So sorry I've been out of the loop! As stated in the heading, I recnetly had my surgery (gastric sleeve) and I'm now on the mend. It has been a little rough so I've been taking it easy. Glad to say thet after 5 days I'm finally feeling a little better. The hardest thing is keeping up with the amount of liquids & protien I'm supposed to consume. Since my stomach is SO tiny now it is frankly impossible to get all that they say but over time I know I will be able to improve. Mon, 6 Aug 2012 17:30:37 EST 3 1/2 weeks post op Hi there. Have not been on here in a while. I had surgery on July 11th. Mentally been a little ruff. I am curious to know what everyone ate at 3 1/2 weeks out. I am in soft food stage. How are you able to track properly on here. Sun, 5 Aug 2012 20:36:24 EST Surgery on 8/14 New to the forum. I will be having Roux N Y on 14 August at the U of Iowa. Will be starting my liquid/pureed diet on Wednesday. I have to admit I am more nervous about that than the surgery. Wish me luck please Mon, 30 Jul 2012 10:51:39 EST Less than 1 week away! I am having the gastric sleev done on Wednesday 08/01/12. I am currently on my liquid protien diet and will have my IVC filter placed tomorrow. I have about 100 lb. to lose. I have been contemplating this for 8 years. In those 8 years I have lost and re-gained about 60 lb. I am releived to finally be getting this over with, but also anxious about the potential complications. I worked at a bariatricians office so I know all the possible complications. I have seen people be very successful, but... Thu, 26 Jul 2012 18:32:00 EST Hi!! I was referred to the Bariatric Clinic in my area back in 2010 so it's been a long process. The Post OP Diet Class is scheduled for August 14th so I'm hoping to have the RNY done before the end of the year. The support group I belong to has been suspended just for the summer and will start again in September. The good thing is that we still keep in contact through email. I agree that this is a personal decision and a lot of people, (mostly my family) feel I shouldn't have it. My husband c... Tue, 10 Jul 2012 11:41:57 EST Getting through the two week protein shakes pre-op I am on my 6th day of the protein shakes and was wondering if anyone has any other tips. My Physician allows 4 meals during this two weeks and I have had 1 at day 4. I have found that if I cut the sweetness of the shakes with plain koolaid powder or cocoa, they are much more palatable. One of my biggest problems is the gas after drinking the shake and I know it is from blending it. Does anyone have any other suggestions.

I will not give up because this is so worth anything I ha... Sun, 8 Jul 2012 13:24:31 EST Hi! Figure I'll just jump in here. I had Roux-en-Y Gastric Bypass Surgery on June 22, 2004. My top weight was approximately 299.5 lbs, although it might have been higher before I decided to see a surgeon about WLS. Initially I lost 134.5 lbs, but then regained 76 lbs. I recently got back on track and have lost around 14 lbs. I have discussed with my new Bariatric dr/surgeon the possibility of having a Band Over Bypass, but I am hoping I won't have to do that. One of the reasons I believe I had my...
