Sun, 25 Dec 2016 21:59:51 EST Light HardCore Swimming Laps WorkOut Help!?!?!?! Hi Yall,
Im not asking for medical advice but I hurt myself and now I ended up with somewhat swollen ankles with little bit of pain I want to start back working out. I normally do like 78 laps = like an hr and a half. what would be a light work out but still hard core that I have a chance at losing weight at the same time workout during the healing process of this ankle situation.

Thanks
Lu Thu, 21 Jul 2016 16:44:48 EST Morning Step We are starting a morning program at school on Monday called Morning Step. I am excited to be part of it. The program was started by one of our great teachers, and I am glad to help her vision continue on. The best part is that I get additional exercise in each morning. I love it!! Sat, 12 Mar 2016 12:13:45 EST Race Across America We are finally here! In 26 minutes we begin our virtual race. There aren't many rules. The goal is to race across America from Boston to San Diego. You can select how you go. I will be walking, swimming, and cycling. My goal is to get 10 miles in at least four days (mostly from cycling). You can check in as often as you like, but at least 1 x each week would be great. For you pet owners out there, feel free to include them on your journey and in your comments. Tonight I decided Ediso... Fri, 1 Jan 2016 00:42:19 EST Sometimes I wonder Sometimes I wonder and become frustrated by my "why". Today, I worked with some children that were from nonchristian cultures. As I worked with them, I wondered why children are so willing to accept each other for who they are, and yet adults judge, heckle, and attempt to break the spirit of those around them. I realize that not all children accept so easily, but I must say that many do until an adult comes along. Today I witnessed a beautiful moment of three cultures coming together; no j... Sat, 19 Dec 2015 00:16:47 EST Inside or Out? I am challenging myself to dress warmer and get outside until the sidewalks aren't clear anymore. I must say it has been very difficult. The wind has turned cold and now has a bite to it. I am staying commited despite the cold, so I am going outside for a walk. Are you exercising inside or out? Sun, 22 Nov 2015 17:23:19 EST Commitment Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts.
Winston Churchill

Wed, 11 Nov 2015 20:55:12 EST Sticking with the mileage Today was one of those overly long days where everything gets packed in so tightly that there is no me time. I didn't entirely lose sight of my goals, but staying on track was incredibly hard. I was worried going into the day. I knew dinner would be a problem as I was not the cook. While there were many choices, few were within the healthy range. I stuck to my tablespoon rule, and stayed away from the gluten. Luckily, I got my mileage in today as well. Glad I'm not a perfectionist. Thi... Tue, 10 Nov 2015 21:04:47 EST Thought for the Day “The Secret of change is to focus all of your energy not fighting the old, but building the new.” - Socrates

This really got me today. I always avoid my "triggers". Perhaps I should focus on replacing them with something new. Tue, 3 Nov 2015 21:03:08 EST Distance Check How many miles did you go today? Mon, 2 Nov 2015 21:36:33 EST Race Across America January 1st, 2016, we will be virtual racing from Boston to San Diego. The route is 3, 252 miles long. You may walk, run, cycle, swim, or suggest an addition mode of movement. We will section out participants into teams of walkers, runners, etc. so that everyone can participate at their level. Each week we will log our miles in our forum. As miles are logged, participants will identify check points as to where their distance has landed them by the weeks end. I can't wait to see who make... Sat, 31 Oct 2015 20:40:28 EST Anything Goes Some of you may remember the 1934 broadway musical, "Anything Goes" by Cole Porter. While this forum has nothing to do with falling in love, England, or voyages, it is intended to have the same careless sense that the musical does. Therefore, there are no rules for this forum. Post anything you wish: jokes, games, your daily adventures, and family news if you wish. I promise, I will not post any videos of me least for now : ) Enjoy! Wed, 28 Oct 2015 20:58:16 EST Trick your Brain Tips With the weather changing and the light dimming, I am really struggling. I have found my self wanting to eat just to warm up, or energize myself. I am trying to think of ways to trick my brain into thinking it is still summer. I haven't had a lot of success with this yet. If you have any tips you would like to share, I woud appreciate them. A few others might too! Sat, 24 Oct 2015 18:37:53 EST Favorite Recipe I am trying something new tonight. I made chicken soup without noodles. It took me awhile to think of a vegetable that would give me the texture of noodles and taste good with chicken. I think it will be one of my new favorite cold weather receipes. If you have a favorite and want to share, feel free to add it here. Sun, 18 Oct 2015 19:22:47 EST Work those 2's I hope you are all finding yourselves well today. It is a beautiful fall day where I live. The bright skies are so motivating. So, this week I decided to challenge everyone to work those 2's. I have lost 8 pounds since starting this goal. I am hoping to make it to ten at the week's end. Hopefully you will all meet your fitness goals too!

Happy Sunday everyone : ) Sun, 18 Oct 2015 17:36:08 EST What's holding you back? The last few months have been busy, and somewhat melancholy for me. We have had two deaths in my family, several weddings, and a birthday. Each event came with its own set of challenges. I handled the weddings the best. I found it easy to stick to my food plan and sneak in some exercise. Weddings always fill me with so much hope. I wasn't able to attend the funerals due to taking a new job. It made things hard emotionally. I had two or three bad days, but my new job is so wonderful tha... Sun, 11 Oct 2015 22:27:26 EST Fit Bit I am wondering how many of you have a Fit Bit and use it with Spark People. I would like to know tips from those of you that have one. I will be purchasing one in a few weeks, but want to make sure it is worth it. Sun, 11 Oct 2015 09:27:20 EST Power of 2 Two can be an exponential number. While the number two alone doesn't seem like much, once it becomes exponential, it grows very quickly. I know that the next few weeks, I won't see much of a change in how I look, but over time my efforts will pay off. Keep up the power of 2 team members trying to lose. Noticeable results are just weeks away : ) Thu, 24 Sep 2015 23:25:30 EST Checking out, or checking in? This is about the time of year that I begin checking out on myself. While I keep up my exercise, I often neglect my diet. I get over committed and planned meals are usually the first things to go. With my kids gone, big meals are not necessary and they can sometimes make me feel lonely. In order to stay checked in, I am trying to find things that motivate me. I was approved to go back to the YMCA by my doctor. I am hoping this will do the trick, but I know even my best attempts may back... Wed, 9 Sep 2015 21:58:23 EST September Goals I am going to lose at least 2 lbs. a week for the month of September, In order to lose weight I will measure my food, exercise daily, and think positive thoughts when I get upset. Happy September everyone! Tue, 1 Sep 2015 07:03:33 EST Stay Calm, Carry On As we approach the end to summer, my days get quite crazy. With school starting up and going back to work, my time has become very limited. Today as I was sitting at my desk, I received a dreaded phone call. My uncle had passed away unexpectedly. My daughter who is quite far from me was devastated. There is absolutely nothing more upsetting to me than not being able to spend time with my family when they need comforting. My immediate response to discomfort was a strong craving for choco... Mon, 31 Aug 2015 16:02:33 EST Finish Strong With only eight days left of August, I hope everyone finishes the month strong. I went to a wedding out of state last week. It was hard riding in the back seat of a car for almost six hours. Going down was great. I didn't give into munching, but I must say that the beautiful night sky kept my mind off of food. Coming home was a different story. Everyone was eating on and off throughout the drive home. I didn't steal anyone's food, or gorge myself on chips, but I did eat foods that I ha... Sun, 23 Aug 2015 18:27:44 EST August Challenge I hope all is going well for you all. For this month's challenge try to get in 10 extra fitness minutes each week. Mon, 3 Aug 2015 17:04:18 EST Team Challenge I am learning from my experience with ankle surgery how to work around obstacles and excuses. Wednesday has never been a good day for healthy eating and working out for me. My stress tends to build throughout the week, and by Wednesday, I have lost my resolve. I am doing much better today. I managed to eat healthy all day, and I didn't let my hectic day through me off. I managed to lose weight despite the surgery. While it is a very small amount, I am happy that I lost weight. Mon, 9 Mar 2015 19:26:10 EST 2015 distance goal According to my FitBit, in 2014, I walked 3,450,964 steps. Less than 10,000 a day. Seems I'm doing a better job of remembering my 20K days than of noticing all the days when I'm at 7K or 8K. I want to do better. FitBit says 6285 floors - I feel pretty good about that, but I think I can get to 11000 this year. I've been looking for glutes exercises - what better than to just get in more stairs? I have them in my house, so no excuses.

My goal for 2015 is 6.2 million steps (ho... Mon, 12 Jan 2015 14:02:16 EST What is your Goal for December 2014? Sat, 8 Nov 2014 03:15:12 EST Losing Face I always struggle every winter with diet and weight loss. Here we are the first of November, and I have made no progress. I realize there is cooler weather, change in the amount of light, and for me, a higher level of stress, But honestly I am tired of finding myself in this place every year. It is so self-defeating and I also feel like I lose face with others who know I am on an endless path to keeping my weight down. I keep doing things to change my lifestyle, switching to organic produ... Sat, 1 Nov 2014 16:11:39 EST What do you do in late fall and winter? With it getting colder and knowing it will be icy soon, I am thinking about what I should do for fitness next. I am trying to ride my recumbent bike more. I want to purchase a bike, but have put it off until spring due to an ankle issue. I also don't think riding in the cold would be good for me. Walking is my exercise of choice, but I need to avoid the ice at all costs this year. So, I am looking for new things to try. I plan on going to the YMCA, and plan on trying some new things ou... Sat, 18 Oct 2014 15:22:44 EST Intro to Learn211 I am joining Go the Distance this evening, and would like to take moment to introduce myself. I am a special needs teacher in Wisconsin. I have been severely overweight since I had my children. I managed to drop my weight done to 200, but struggle to get into the hundreds, and usually gain weight during winter. Fri, 17 Aug 2012 07:32:22 EST Time to begin anew. Hi everyone. I hesitated joining this group and then I remembered a video that I seen recently saw about a man who was in a wheelchair and overwieght. He was told it was likely impossible for him to walk again.
