Why do I need to shave, and what do I need to shave? My husband thought maybe it was meant for men to shave their bellies, but I've seen other women talking about getting up and shaving in the morning in order to prepare for surgery, so I'm feeling that I'm missing something... Wed, 12 Mar 2014 20:01:45 EST Hello everyone http://www.sparkpeople.com/myspark/team_messageboard_thread.asp?board=-1x537x56936386 I was banded in Sept 2012. I have only lost 15 pounds. I am frustrated. I have had a few fills but I still go up and down on my weight. My husband and I were banded on the same day. He has lost 160 pounds. I am happy for him. He is at a plateau also. I have tried low carbs and high protein like my dr said but it doesn't seem to work. We only eat a quarter of what we used to but we are not getting any where. I am open to any suggestions. I have been on insulin for nearly 10 years. The band while good at restricting food intake, does nothing to change your metabolism or gut hormones! This means it is a short term fix for anything serious like the diabetes. SO, for a long term fix/tool the bypass is the plan. I just... Just trying to get back on the wagon and really start using my lapband as a tool. I was banded August 9, 2012 at 198 lbs and I've lost 25 lbs since then and really have just been maintaining since December. I have been struggling, and I think it is because more and more I realize that I am dealing with food addiction and binge eating. A lot more mental struggles are coming out that I honestly initially did not think that I had (at least to this extent). I have a video blog on youtu... I started my band at 242lbs in December 2009. I realized that I have abused and depended on the band itself to lose the weight which is why I cant keep it off. The lost weight I have reached is 182 I think. My sister and I started at the same weight and had the surgery a year apart and she weighs 160. I drink soda, eat cookies, everything I'm not supposed to do while I sit here and wonder why the scale keeps going back up..... But I have had 2 fills so far. (surgery date was 3/6/12, I had my first fill on 4/18, and then again on 5/12). I now have 5 ccs of saline in my band, but I don't feel any different than I did after surgery. I guess I am a little concerned that the band is not really being filled.
